We've taken cooler(s) with us to any hotel we've stayed at Hotel personal don't think anything about it. Get ice from the ice machine--put your food in airtight plastic containers ) the lock and lock brand is excellent--we take things like slices of turkey or low sodium ham, string cheese whole wheat bread. a small container of diet mayo, mustard,, we also take bowls of salad ( again using the lock and lock storage system) and our low fat salad dressing , throw in a few fruits and veggies, some paper plates and plastic silverware, some napkins and you are good to go. Just make sure to drain out the water as the ice melts and keep putting fresh ice in.It's easy !!!

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I think I was making it a bigger problem. I don't want the hard work to be thrown out the window in one week.

I will bring a cooler (packing fruit & nuts), checking out protein bars, and will see if there is a store within walking distance. And will call the hotel today and see if I can refrigerate anything in the lobby.

I spoke to my husband, and he is willing to do what he can to help me out. Thanks so much for the suggestions.

If your not comfortable with the cooler idea and don't want to get charged for the fridge, how about freezing some yogurt and then putting it into an insulated bag with ice packs. Grab some protein bars, fruit and Fiber One bars!!!

I didn't get to read all the responses, so this may have already been said, but bring a cooler - that's what I always do. Any time I go to a hotel we always have a cooler in hand - sometimes it's full of food, sometimes it's full of adult beverages! :) Hey - whatever works, right?!

Have a great trip and don't fret!

I know my nephew has medicine that has to stay refrigerated, and most hotels even if they don't have them in the room will let you get one (just like a trundle bed). Also, take a minute to look up the hotel on google maps and see if there are any 7-11's or anything near your hotel. One vacation I walked down the two block every morning to get yogurt. Good luck!

Such great suggestions!

I always carry granola bars in my purse for emergencies. They have "saved" me many a time.

Call ahead and see if you can get a fridge or like the other member said bring a cooler and keep filling it with ice.. You will be fine-- just make wise choices.

Congrats!!

One bite, one day, one pound at a time. Remember you are worth the effort!

Talk to the waitress in the restaurant. Tell her you're diabetic and need something low in carbs and fats. Most places are very happy to oblige.

The Radisson is upscale enough that, if your room doesn't come with a mini fridge, they should be able to get you one. You may have to pay a couple of dollars a day for it, but they have them.

Just try to pack some things that don't need refrigerated, like NutriGrain Bars or Fiber one bars, apples, organges..etc...

Workpeacefully has a great idea too about eating half of what you order or sharing with someone.

Good Luck! emoticon

A cooler? I know it's a pain, but seriously, you might wanna look into one. They also sell coolers that plug into wall outlets (my husband is a trucker and uses one).

Fruit doesn't have to be refrigerated, so maybe have a piece of fruit for breakfast, a salad with the dressing on the side, and a sensible dinner.

As far as portion control, just eat half of whatever you order. Restaurants are horrible about serving double or even triple servings.

I just recently celebrated my 5 year anni, and I gained 5lbs in half a week. It was weekend before last, and I am just now getting back below where I was before that weekend!

I wish you luck! Remember, even if you get off track a bit, this one week will not completely ruin your weight loss efforts! It's just one week, and then you will be back home, and can get back in the swing of things!

Peace, Rachel

Ok, ladies, here is the deal. I recently signed up for SP and have been doing FABULOUS! However, we are going out of town for our 1 year wedding anniversary, no big deal right? Wrong, I just found out the Radisson does not have refrigerators in the rooms.

What am I supposed to do? I was planning to bring fruit, yogurt, and cheese-now I have no way to keep them cold. I am still new at portion control, and who wants to eat out all three meals for a whole week? Any ideas to keep me on track?
