What is a reward? It's something that makes us feel good. Well, here's an idea:

Some of us like to reward ourselves with small food treats, say a drink at Starbucks or an ice cream cone.

Think of the amount of money you would spend on the food reward (say $5) and give it to a charity, a cause, a shelter, or just put it into a savings account for yourself.

ďA mighty flame followeth a tiny spark" -- Dante Alighieri

Thoughts become things. Losing 150 pounds started with this simple little phrase: "No More."

Today my non-food reward was going to Dillards and using my 3 gift cards that I've been saving to buy myself a gorgeous new beach cover up for all the parties that I've been invited to this summer. It is a light & airy, gauzy man tailored shirt style, with wooden buttons on the pockets and slits on the sides and soft rolled 3/4 sleeves and i LOVE it and I deserve it!! I have lost 13lbs (6 with SP) and 7 inches and even though it was pricey, it is EXACTLY what I have been looking for and it makes me feel like a total rock star!!! ( & Much better than food, I can tell ya!!)

I read the book "INTO THE WILD" which was really good, because I'd first read "INTO THIN AIR" and even better book about the trip to the Top of Mt. Everest and the Hurricane(Cyclone). If you haven't read that book, the documentary was on PBS and good, but not as good as the book.
I realize that I have for more determination than I use, when I know that I would have forced myself to have lived through the night on Everest.

emoticon emoticon Movie (Into The Wild) from Netflix. The story was very good but a little sad.

Oldie but goodie movie (Less Than Zero). It's an old movie starring Andrew McCarthy, Jami Gertz, Robert Downey Jr. emoticon emoticon

It probably wasn't a block buster movie when it was released. But I find it fascinating how it appears to mimic Robert Downey Jr.'s real life struggle with drugs. Fortunately, real life has a better ending than the movie.

How are you rewarding yourself for accomplishing your short or long term goals? How about rewarding yourself for accomplishing your daily goals?

How about ...
A soothing bubble bath by candle light
A new and fragrant body wash for your next shower
Watching an "oldie but goody" movie
Wearing the "good" night gown
A foot soak AND a massage
A new music download for your MP3 player
A cup of your favorite tea using the good china
Painting your nails
A "Law and Order" (or other TV show) mini-marathon
A spray of lavendar or light fragrance on bed linen
An extra hour of sleep
Any non-food item that shows gratitude and appreciation for you as you are now, and rewards you for completing some or all of your daily goals today.

Use this discussion to remind yourself to take things one day at a time, to enjoy the process, break the food-emotion connection, and to earn 1 spark point. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
