I have a craving for something sweet after a meal that I'm trying to stop. It need not be much and perhaps is a habit of thinking of it when I finish the meal...

The only other sweet I have is a half of a teaspoon of Trivia in lemon juice and water in the morning. I have this because I think it is healthy and we have so many lemon trees and lemons that go to waste here I might as well make use of them - and I can't drink lemons juice without a sweetener.

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of May 2019. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2019 to be back to below 155.

My body's desire for sugar is decreasing. I'm usually a HUGE candy person.

I don't track sugar separately, but I know I eat very little. I discovered a sugar intolerance, sort f hypoglycemia, more than 40 years ago and have been careful ever since. Today was the exception as we had a birthday cake for my daughter's/husband's joint birthday party. I made it - and sent half of it home with my daughter and another piece went with my granddaughter. Hubby and I ate the rest (1 large and 1 small piece each). So a lot of sugar today, but it's gone now. Otherwise we don't keep foods like that in the house. Oh yes, we both feel rotten and will be happy when the sugar is processed out of our bodies.

What cut the most sugar out of my life was trying not to eat processed foods. yes we still eat some. We have sugar in the house it is a good exfoliant.

Sugar's hard to eliminate because they hide it in so many things.

I agree Sandy. I also think there are worse ingredients than sugar, but I thought it would be a good thing to concentrate on this week. =) I was thinking about HFCS, but I think I did that one already? I don't remember. LOL

It's hard to eliminate all sugar but I cut it back a whole lot when I stopped using it in coffee & tea & switched to diet soda. I stopped using creamer in coffee, too, so that eliminated a lot of sugar. I don't drink coffee often but when I do, it's black.

How much sugar do we consume in a day?

If we are eating anything packaged, try to keep the grams to 9 or less per serving. If you add sugar to something, i.e. coffee/tea, etc. lessen the amount you normally put in, cutting back every so slightly. (unless you want to go Rambo on it, and just go cold turkey.)

If you have any struggles or suggestions please share, but also share your successes!
