Have ordered the July book from the library. I have returned the June read.

I, too, would be very careful to whom I'd recommend this book. Oh, my.

Joanne - I didn't get invested in him or his story either - to be honest for a while i thought he was Fenrir and didn't realize he was the son until too late in the story.

I agree HEADRENEE! I preferred Cyrah's story, and briefly thought that the book could have been just that part, but I guess the author had more to say from son's perspective. I just did not become as invested in him, or in his story.

I never would have found this book if it hadn't been for this group. I too enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

I found that I particularly liked the story more when told through Cyrah. I wish we could have had more of her story.

I just finished the book, and I stand by my earlier comments: what a unique and compelling read! Not sure I would recommend it to a friend... but I did recommend it to my daughter as I think she would appreciate it on so many levels.

That is exactly how I felt about the bodily fluids and the gore. I didn't see it as gratuitous at all. It was needed to shore just how like animals rather than human, they are. I agree I've never read anything like this and while there are a lot of pieces that are horrific, I don't feel like it is really a horror story.

I have been delaying commenting because WOW!
This book is unlike any I have read before. I am not a huge fantasy fan, but would you class this as fantasy? Horror? Supernatural-historic-legend based? I am at a loss as to how I would describe this to a friend.
Another thing: I feel like I SHOULD be having a different reaction to this book than the one I AM having. I often make a joke to my family that the one thing I do not want to see in movies or read about in books is bodily fluids. And this book has them all. In spades. Yet for some reason, rather than being turned off by all this, I am taking it in stride. The reason, I think, is that it is relevant to the story.
There is so much energy in this book, dark energy, and so much arousal (but not erotic arousal), and so much that is horrible, yet at the same time, emotionally stirring.
I am enthralled by Das' storytelling. I feel like this book was NOT written for me, that somehow it came into my hands by mistake, that I am reading a forbidden tale.
About 2/3 of the way through. Taking it one big juicy bite at a time!

I'm a little over half way through this. I had a really hard time getting into it (took about 50 pages before I could read more than a few at a time). Still not sure what I think about it.

A rainy day has finally got me out of my garden and into this book. Reading your comments, I can see I am in for quite a read! I am really looking forward to this one - probably not one I would had come across on my own!

That was how I felt. I wanted to keep going, but I wasn't really sure how I felt about it for a while. I find I'm still thinking about it unexpectedly.

I'm about 1/2 through as well - the more i read it though the more I want to keep turning pages. I am liking the story although I went into this book blind not knowing what it's about at all. Maybe I'll stay up late tonight and finish :)

About 1/2 way through and still not certain. I do like learning about the city/culture/country/mythology--as teammate put it, but some of the story..........not sure why this story is being told. Yet.

I've only started, a few chapters in, but I'm intrigued, and looking forward to getting a few more chapters in today.

I've decided that I liked it. I'll wait to talk about it until more have read it. I think this is going to be a DNF for some. There is a lot of violence, gore, pissing, unconventional relationships (trying to not spoil anything). It wasn't always a comfortable read, but I enjoyed the mythology and much of the story telling.

I've finished. I'm going to sit on it for a day or so to try to decide how to uncomplicate my feelings for this one.

Wow! You're right--I didn't expect this either. Haven't decided yet on love/hate the book, but I think you're right about that, too.

This wasn't at all what I was expecting. I'm a little more than half way done. I have a feeling this will be one that people love or hate.
