Wohooo - this works! I am much better again with the gym now that rehab is over but I have to say I still have bouts of not drinking enough of ANY fluids (wonder if I was a camel in another lifetime)...

Hey, it's a little late for me but my new years goals were to
1. get healthier and lose weight
2. not be lazy
3. try to be nicer and more understanding to customers at my work

So far I have been doing great on the first one. For the month of January I lost 15 pounds, and I have been doing fairly well on making sure I eat healthier then I had been. It is hard though to stay consistant with drinking 8 glasses of water, getting enough servings of fruits and veggies, and not having too many "bad days", but I'll just keeping trucking lol.

As for my not being lazy, I think I have been doing a lot better. I've had the task of keeping up my grandmas house while she is away (after surgery), and cleaning after three rascal dogs, and so far have been doing pretty good!

Hope everyone else is fairing out well

How's everyone doing? I seem to be plugging along - trying to duck the flu and cold bugs that are circling around me lately. Man I can't wait until we move out of this season!

Glad you decided to join us!

I realized that now that I am almost at the end of phase 1 of South Beach, it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be (considering it has been 4 years since I did it for that long). I miss fruit but I really haven't missed the grains/starch. My weight is in my normal weight loss pattern like before - ie about a pound every two weeks it looks like. This is fine considering it isn't like there is a whole lot there to lose..lol. Still struggling to get back to the gym on a daily basis - between the stupid weather and appointments. It should get closer back to normal now (snow is gone AGAIN) and arm is stronger for driving. Working out at home is okay but just not the same intensity.

I am just joining in on this team!

I am a week at SP and two weeks into my weight loss. My challenge for January is to record my food in SP every day. Doing great on it so far, learning a lot about calories that I didn't know before LOL!

So many of us have the first week under our belts officially today. How did we all do? Personally, I went down a pound which is all I expected. Got my water and tracking back on board. Just got back on the treadmill yesterday emoticon

Take this weekend, and peruse some recipes. It is clear many of us get caught in food ruts. So lets challenge ourselves to try something new. Check out the recipes here, or Sparkrecipes.com. Or if you are a foodie like me, I have a gazillion food blogs I read so my goal is to find something to inspire me. Let us know what you have tried and if it was a success/flop/etc..

Done well on food and water. Start working out on Sunday. Tomorrow is my first weigh in of the year. I wanted a week to get my food and water back under control. So I am ready to get to moving. Hope the scales are nice to me tomorrow.

Glad to have you back on board! It is funny but last year I went to Houston for the BBQ Championships which normally means lots of bbq and alcohol involved. It was the first time I actually brought my workout clothes and used the gym at the hotel which rocked. Kept me in line (for the most part..lol).

Glad your back. You can do this. Staying on track is hard but the reward is great. Let's make this an awesome year!

Here I am again, back at start!
My goal this year is to get back on track, I was doing great last year until July when we went on vacation, that's when my exercise "habit" went out the window :(
We were gone for 2 weeks and it was so hard to get back in the groove of things. I stopped my YMCA membership and turned my garage into a gym.
Today is day 2 for me with getting back on track with my eating healthy, portion size & water intake...I feel like I am starving :(
I plan on adding my exercise routine into the mix within the next week or so.
I am hoping to connect with people to stay in contact with, to form a small support group.
Happy New Year & I hope to hear from you.

I do that to with the water. So far on day two I have done well on the food and the water. Plan on kicking in the exercise here in a bit. I am so ready for this!

Day 2 for me. Thought I was going to need to live in the bathroom thanks to the "get myself back on track with water" goal. emoticon I forgot that it takes me awhile to "stabilize". emoticon

My goals:

I don't need to lose weight (although going to bring my weight back down to my low end of the weight spectrum for "wiggle room") but I definitely need to fine tune my diet - detox from the sugar and breads of the holiday season. Get myself back on 3 meals and 2-3 snacks every day. Get back on track with water. And get myself back to the lower end of my "allowed" weight range I have set for myself. It also includes getting in some type of exercise EVERY day.

This is a 30 day challenge since it takes 30 days to establish a habit. Your challenge is what you decide to make it. Weight loss, quit smoking, establish exercise, anything - you decide and post. Let's support each other in our endeavors!
