I also had a crazy weekend..ugh..I need a vacation!! lol. I did OK with eating, but too much pasta type of dishes. I'm sure I worked it off.

I live near a high school and was going to get gas and stop for corn around the time school was getting out. I was stopped at a red light (had wyatt and louise with me, too) and one of the kids rear ended me. There wasn't much damage to my van, but her whole front fender fell off her Volvo! I couldn't believe it!! Sad thing is I just had my bumper replaced not too long ago because someone else ran into me..SO WHAT'S UP WITH THAT??? The important thing is that no one was injured including the dogs. Bumpers and fenders can be replaced (again)!!

Taking it one step at a time.

Morning, Molly! I had a pretty crazy weekend! Went to a concert on Friday night in Oakland, CA and then drove down to Six Flags in Valenica (5 hours) for a day of fun at the park! We ran, walked, and had some heart stopping moments. Yesterday we made the long drive home and crashed! Didn't make it to the gym this morning, but will be going this evening for full body! I will aslo be doing my 3 mile walk at lunch. I would love to make it to the pool today, but I really don't see that happening. Tomorrow morning I think will work?

Had a greyt weekend. The Buckeyes won (but it sure wasn't pretty) and my next fav team won (USF Bulls, also not pretty). I did eat like a crazy person but I ran 5 miles the night before the game and I walked 14 miles total yesterday, so I am hoping the damage was minimal. I will find out tomorrow when I go to work and jump on the scale.
Plans for today are hiking this morning and dinner with my family as it is my mom's birthday. We are going to the Cheesecake factory. I checked out the menu and I think I should be able to find something there that won't reck the day too bad (maybe I will just hike a little more this morning just for some wiggle room emoticon
Hope everyone has a great day and an even greater week.

Boy sounds like you have a busy weekend planned.
I have a pretty busy one myself. Tomorrow is an Ohio State home football game at noon. We will probably start tailgating down at the stadium around nine in the morning. I don't expect we will get home until around 5. Sunday I am going down to my sister-in-laws and training for a half marathon walk in 3 weeks. Our plan is to walk 11 miles on Sunday (all at one time) in the morning and then go to lunch in the afternoon.
I have mixed feelings about the new logo. I like the logo but I miss seeing that picture of those 3 adorable greyhounds with their heads all cocked to the side (TOO CUTE!)
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

It's Friday! I like the new team picture/logo. I noticed it yesterday!

Going to be a busy weekend. We have company coming and we also have a wedding to go to tomorrow. Our company is our nephews; they will be going to my inlaws tomorrow to do some work around their house for them, but they will be sleeping at our house. Sunday will be a family dinner at my in laws and that will pretty much take up the whole weekend! Time for work! emoticon

It's a 1981 Yamaha Maxim. I haven't been riding it at all. Still working on getting my license, but I'm determined to have my license before Oct.

I need to replace a piece of the electrical which shouldn't take me any time at all this week and then I'll be off. I'm really anxious to ride it especially with the wonderful weather I've been having.

Didn't know you had a motorcycle. What kind?

I'll probably go to the gym a couple of times, but for the most part I'm going to relax and get a couple of things accomplished. I've got to repair my motorcycle and give me dogs a much needed bath.

Sunday my mom is having a family BBQ which should be a lot of fun! Other than that I have nothing planned!

Boy, one more day until the weekend. It has been a long week. I am looking forward to the long weekend. Going to the first OSU Football game on Saturday so I am very excited to start tailgating for the season. No other big plans. There is a local 5K on Monday morning which is put on by one of the schools to help raise money for their cross country program. I am considering doing this if the weather stays nice (and not too hot). Any one have big plans for the holiday weekend?

Happy Saturday. Hope people have the day off and can relax from a busy work week. It is beautiful here in Columbus this morning.

I have a couple birthday get togethers this weekend so I have to try really hard to keep the eating under control. I did the best I could at incorporating some junk food into my nutrition tracker today without going over my limits. Keep your fingers crossed that I can stick with it. I am going to the gym this morning and hopefully bust out about 6 miles of jogging on the treadmill which will give me a little wiggle room emoticon

I'm really excited that our new dog, Oliver, is already helping us get more exercise, and he hasn't even been with us for a week! We've been taking him for daily morning and evening walks - I go with him in the morning before I have to leave for work, and it's usually at a pretty brisk pace. Most of the time it's just a quick walk around the block, which is a little less than half a mile. In the evenings, both the hubby and I go with him - the pace is a little slower, but we typically do a neighborhood circuit that's almost a mile.

This morning, I had some extra time and did the mile route since we'll only have time for a short walk this evening. We covered it in 15 minutes flat, including a couple little jogging stretches. It feels great to be doing something that's good for both the humans and the dog! :)

I ate horrible again this weekend but I worked my butt off.
jogging: 6 miles
walking: 5 miles
cycling: 8 miles
elliptical: 2 miles
cleaned the whole house and laundry
gardedning: 75 minutes

I think that should almost cancel everything out. So overall all I am going to say it was a good weekend. The weather was so beautiful here this weekend that I just wanted to be outside doing something.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend and here to a greyt week.

Beautiful weather here in Columbus. This weekend is only suppose to be in the high 70's and sunny. That sure beats the mid 90's that we were having just last week. It makes me feel happy.

I love bike riding. I was a little nervous when I got started again since I hadn't been on a bike since I was about 10 and never ridden one with more than one gear.

I do enjoy it. Especially now that I have a bike that fits me better. My old bike was too big. I *heart* my new bike LOL

It ended up rainy and windy for the ride. We left the house extra early anticipating it to be hot and humid. I did 37.5 miles. I think that is officially my longest bike ride since I did the MS 150 four years ago.

Hope it is not too hot tomorrow for your bike ride.

I completed my second 5K today. I managed to shave quite a bit of time off the one that I did 2 weeks ago (finishing time was 27:46 which was second in my age group) emoticon

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Exercise for the rest of the week:

Tonight - crazy spinning class for 45 minutes. This lady is way more intense than the Tuesday night guy.

Friday - Be a bum

Saturday - help hold dogs who are getting their nails trims (whether they like it or not) for 3 hours.

Sunday - Do another 35 mile ride hopefully. The heat index for this weekend is supposed to be over 105. If it is really bad out (like 90 by 8 AM or something) I'll just go to the gym instead.

I have been known to skip and evening spinning class in favor of sleeping but I figure that is ok as long as I don't do it too often. And by that point I'm usually so tired that I only get up for about an hour to feed to dog and shower before going to bed for the evening.

It is hard for me to decipher between the "I'm working too hard and really need a break" and the "I'm feeling lazy so I'm going to make myself think I'm tired and I need a break"

I was exercising for 30 min Monday and Wednesday, and doing 45 minute spinning classes Tuesday and Thursday and then riding my bike for a couple of hours Saturday or Sunday and that was burning me out. I dropped the Monday exercise and that has helped. I feel bad about it but I think it will be better in the long run because I'll be less likely to burn out.

I agree with that. I get home, check the mail, feed the animals, change clothes and then it is off to the gym for about an hour. By the time I get home, get cleaned up and eat dinner it is 8:00. I do miss my evenings.

Weekends I either have dog stuff or go riding or both so I'm loosing time there too to catch up on things.

As I told my mom this week, right now my life is work, biking, and dogs. LOL

Things have been busy here. Does anyone else have a hard time balancing your home life and your new exercise life? I am finding that I am having trouble keeping up with my house cleaning and gardening. My job is very physical so when I get home from work I am already tired. Now with exercising 5 nights a week, I am exhausted. I am trying something new this week, I created spark goals for cleaning and gardening. I thought maybe if I awarded myself spark points, I would be more motivated. I guess only time will tell........

I got in my bike ride this weekend.

I did 35 miles on flat paved trails and averaged 14.5 mph. I think the last 10 miles I was riding 12-13 mph so I managed a good speed for the first 25. Just a few weeks ago I was doing 28 miles and only averaging about 13 mph so I feel like my training is paying off.

I still have a long way to go to build up to the 97 miles I'll have to do the first day of the MS150.

Thanks for the info. I had heard of it's sleeping effects on humans but I guess I just never thought of giving for Sitka's storm anxiety. Any help with the panting and pacing would be great. Sitka usually ends up going into our walk-in closet. If she does venture out, she paces back and forth panting for what seems like forever. I have to put ear plugs in to get any sleep. emoticon

What is also bad, is that after an hour or so of being up and pacing, she wants to go out and pee. I will definitely get some and try it.

Thanks for the info.

Hope everyone is having a greyt day. I have to say I am looking forward to this evening. I have a massage scheduled at 8:30. It will be a deep tissue massage so not exactly the most enjoyable (for a small girl, my massage therapist can really cause me quite a bit of pain!!!) however after I get one of her massages, I sleep like a rock. Greyt way to end the work week.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

You can get melatonin just about anywhere, it is in the herbal supplements section. It is used as a sleep aid for people (I take it too LOL) but works good for taking the edge off of nervous dogs.

I knew it would storm over night so I gave it to her right before I went to bed. Ideally I give it an hour or so before I think there will be a storm. Without melatonin Stella is standing in the bathroom shaking and panting. With it she just lays in the bathroom panting a little and looking concerned.

I have tablets and just give her one but you can give two. She is great about taking pills so I just take a milk bone, scoop some PB on one end, and press the tablet into the PB and she eats it right up.

Also I don't feel bad about giving it to her if I think it is going to rain and then it doesn't, she just naps a bit more. Of course at almost 13 about all she does is nap LOL.

For me, I take it when my sleep is off. I find that I get a good nights sleep but it doesn't leave me feeling groggy in the morning like a Tylenol PM or something would.

Melatonin? When do you give this? My little girl also hates storms and it is getting worse. Last night she started the pacing when it was only lightening out, no rain or thunder yet.

Hope the cool down lasts through the weekend for you, especially with all that cycling coming up.

We had storms come through last night and it finally cooled off here. Stella was very unhappy about the storms though. Thank goodness for melatonin, it really helps her with that stuff.

I need to put in 35-40 miles on my bike Saturday and I think it will be back in the low 90s by then. Ick.

Of course my check in today is all about my race. I ran my first 5K in 10 years. I was hoping to average 11 minute miles. I am happy to say that I bet that goal (just barely). According to the time clock, I finished at 32:33 emoticon emoticon

I guess my next goal will be to try to shave some time off my next run and start training for the 10K.

Hey Elaine, how are the munchies treating you (LOL)?

I am working through it. I keep telling myself that if I resist today, I can have what I want tomorrow and then when tomorrow comes, I start the whole mantra over again. We are going to an art festival on Friday so I am trying to hold out until then but you can beat I am gonna have something good there.

Beautiful in Columbus right now but a little warm. Our A/C was out for almost a week. Thank goodness they came 2 days ago and fixed it. Although maybe my weight loss this week is due to excessive sweating????

Hey MJ.... If it's any consolation, the past week or so, I've been in the same boat - always thinking about food! It's almost like I'm going through withdrawel from an addictive substance. Hmmm... is it possible to be addicted to food or, perhaps, something in the food?

Maybe because you're so close to your goal?! I would think about food constantly if I was one pound away too!

Hang in there!

Who knows, I am just thinking about food in general. When I snack I am at least trying to go to a 100 calorie pack of something but still I am not sure why I am so food focused recently.

Why do you think you're thinking about food so much?

Are you having bad food cravings or good foods?

Don't beat yourself up! Just try to find something else to focus on. Plan a dream trip. Search for that outfit you've always wanted to wear.

It has been a rough last couple days. I have the extreme munchies and I am not even hungry. So far I have been able to stay in my calorie range each day but I am definitely at the upper end instead of in the middle of my range. All I am thinking about is food:(

Good job, Heather. I have a question for you...

Is the Kroger a food store? If so, next time go & cruise the produce and you can pick up something like an apple, a banana, or even some individual 3 oz packets of baby carrots! They sell stuff like that in our grocery stores here in NM. I've done it more than once and it helps me to make better choices, later, when I can sit down & eat.

Also, I'd recommend that instead of diet soda, you grab a bottle of water. There are studies out there that show links between diet soda and both weight gain and metabolic syndrome, a precursor to adult onset diabetes. It really isn't all that good for people trying to lose weight, contrary to what you would think. EEK!!!!

It's sooo hard not to turn to unhealthy food when you are hungry. I often have this problem. Then once I make one slip, I find I have a hard time getting back on track the rest of the day. It will probably always be something I have to work with. My food choices have been horrible this week. We had our community festival this weekend which I went to on both Saturday and Sunday. Then my sister-in-law had a birthday party for her little girl and finally it is that time of the month. That in and of itself can make my appetite ravenous. This weekend will be horrible as well because me and my husband are going to NYC for the weekend. I will need to try and do some SERIOUS damage control next week.

I think I agree with Brook about keeping some healthy food options in the car (just make sure it is something that won't melt....). Subway also has some healthy food options and at least here in Ohio there seems to be one on almost every corner. You could always grab one and eat it in the car.

Well, don't eat your cell phone! I can't imagine what it would taste like, not to mention how it would feel coming out!!

Girl!! I was about to eat my cell phone. Keeping some food in the car is a good idea. I was going to go back in the house, but I just put Wilma in her crate, which she doesn't really like, so I didn't want to disturb her.

I agree Heather! I usually try to keep some nuts, almonds, or dried fruit in the car to help out with those moments!

Good job on waiting, even though I'm sure you were starving!!

I'm checking in. This is a great idea. For me, having accountability really helps you stick to your goals.

I probably haven't eaten enough today. I had a doctors appointment this morning and forgot my snack so I was ravenous. I had to stop at the Kroger to go to the bank and I only bought a diet soda! Waited until I got home to get something to eat. It is hard to turn away something unhealthy when you are so hungry. I try to avoid this, but it happens now and then.

Beautiful day here in Columbus. I think I will skip the gym today and do some gardening out in the yard.

Plan on trying a new healthy chocolate chip cookie recipe today from the SparkRecipe site (few minor revisions). I will try and let everyone know tomorrow how they taste.
