Oh my gosh, I did my first run yesterday and my stomach muscles are really sore! I thought it was suppose to be legs that got sore lol!

I'd like to take a pill that made me six stone. Then I could eat my way back up to ten. What a great weekend that would be. Jo Brand.

Well, I made myself do day 3. Figured I shouldn't let myself get lazy. It felt really good, though I definitely slowed down towards the end. I think at this point I'm going to stick with week 1 a few more times before hitting week 2, although I am curious if I can do it or not.

I just joined today and will start the program tonight after work. I've started in before in October and since I wasn't consistent I only made it to week 3 by January. I've decided to give myself a fresh start and join this group and start the program over. I'm hoping that with other sparkies I will be able to run a 5K (or 30 minutes straight) by my wedding (July 31)

(3/3/2010) I completed W1D1 yesterday and it was tough. I can't seem to breathe correctly. Does any one else have this problem? If not; how do you breathe?

Just joined the group today but did day 1 yesterday. I did mostly ST today at the gym and will do day 2 tomorrow. I have been running/walking in circuits on the treadmill for some time now but felt like I needed a better "plan" to get me to where I can run with some consistancy. I get really winded so need to pace myself to find the right speed for me. I am hoping this will help me to get to my goal weight by the end of April for my Sparkaversary or at least by June for my birthday.

I should be doing w1 d3 today. Yesterday I did some heavy duty cleaning for 2-3 hours, which included moving every piece of furniture in my living room, so I'm a tad sore. Is it ok to skip today and do it tomorrow, or should I push myself to do it today? I THINK I'd be ok doing it today, but feeling sore is enhancing my sense of lazy...

Day 1 today. Mine was walk fast/walk normal (with occasional dog pauses) for half an hour. At 66 and 230, my week 1 may take a month before I can reach an actual jog.

I really like the concept of intervals.

Ok - I started w1d1 on Friday and to my amazement, I could actually jog for 60 seconds! LOL I didn't get to continue over the weekend (very sick child), but picked it back up today. Can't wait to see the results! I haven't jogged/ran since I was a teenager (and even then I was too lazy to want to! LOL!!!) We have a vacation planned the week of May 23rd - I can't wait to see how much I can loose by then. :-) I may even buy a new bathing suit! (maybe)

After some emotional & physical setbacks this past week, I restarted the program. I got my butt out of bed early and went to the gym before work. W1D1, yet again- but I know I can make it to W2 this time!

Wk1d1 and I made it! Although I am surprised I'm still alive - I felt I was going to die from lack of oxygen. My legs decided they didn't want to run after my 7th minute, but the thought of not making it, pushed me on. I'm going to have a hot shower now and psyche myself up for wk1d2 on Wednesday.

@ASTABETH - The only 5K I did that had a time requirement was the one at Disneyland. They said they would pick you up if you couldn't do a 15-min/mile pace during the race. Most other races don't have time limits. Check with the race directors to see if they have restrictions.

Did Week 1 Day 2 today. Got off the treadmill and went into the neighborhood with the pup and without the podcast so it was more of a challenge with his sniff breaks and trying to figure out timing, etc....also trying to drag my entire body weight around is a lot more challenging than being on the treadmill. I worked up a pretty good sweat - gotta start somewhere! Have a great week and new month everyone! emoticon emoticon

So today was a mix day for me I did week 1 day 3 with my mom and well she didn't like to follow the program so we did 5k in 62 mins, and to keep up with her at the beginning I pushed myself too hard and had to walk and rest a lot during the hour we were going, well I was really frustrated since I had done well on week 1 day 2, so tonight I decided to go back out and try again, just me and my mp3 player and I did it, I finished all of week 1 day 3 no breaks no stopping, wasn't super fast but I am so happy with what I have done!!

I will be embracing my inner Weeble and will not fall down, but just roll back up and keep on going!!

I did W1D1 today. I thought I was dieing at first and didn't know if I could finish but I did finish Yeah me!
I did walk at 3.5 and run at 4.5 for first time. I may up it to 5.0 next time but I was breathing pretty hard even after only 60 seconds.Walking was actually easy after running for 60 seconds.

I also did W1D3 today, and outside for the first time instead of on a treadmill. I think using the treadmill is causing me to go slower - I normally get 2.0 km in 1/2 hr. on the treadmill and I did over 2.6 outside in 1/2 hour. Plus some slight inclines. I kept walking after I was done, and managed to do 5k in 55 minutes. I walked around for a few more minutes to get in a full hour.

Which makes me wonder - when you enter a 5k, how long do they give you to finish? I was surprised when I realized I made it in under an hour, but disappointed when I figured out that I only went about 3.4 miles per hour on average for the whole hour.

I did W1D3 today and it felt pretty good. I ran outside today instead of on the treadmill so that was a little different. I don't know how fast I was going - I'm sure it wasn't much, but it sure did feel like it! I was still breathing pretty hard after the 90 second walk and wondering if I should slow my running down. Do you think I should do another week of W1 until it is easier or should it be a little hard? I did switch from the Ullrey podcasts to Suz's and I liked that one a lot better. Kept me moving!

Did Week 1, Day 1 today on the treadmill. Easier to track time on the treadmill. I'll have to try to download the podcasts so I can try this program outdoors with the pup! Did the walk at 3.5 and the jog at 4.1 on a 2.5% incline. Trying to start slooooowly so I will keep with it. Haven't run an entire 5K in ages. Did w1d2 today - really slow. I thought I was increasing my speed over Wed., and while my running was .2 km/hr faster, my walking was actually slower! I forgot what I did on Wed. By the end I was afraid I wasn't going to make it.

Walking @ 3.2 km/hr & running @ 6.2 km/hr. On Sunday I will try walking @ 4.2 & running @ 6.2 for day 3.

Finished W1D2... I think I'm going to jump to Week 2 and do MWF to keep it even. It felt good! I upped the speeds a little bit (3.7-4.0 vs. 6.0-7.0). I normally hit a wall when I run that fast and I have to slow down, but I guess the intervals are short enough?

I'm lovin' it.

I finished week 1 day 2 today! Made the mistake of trying a nature trail to start, and it was all up and down hill, so I changed to a flat paved surface and it went much much better. I am so excited now I have to wait until Sunday for day 3, LOL!!

I started today with the fast paced walk for 5 minutes and then tried to do 60 seconds of a jog and ran out of breath after 40 sec. Then walked a bit more and tried again.

I met friends and we walked pretty normally in the park for 1 1/2 hrs. Then on my way back by myself I did 40 sec of jog and then 90 sec walk. I tried to continue. Didn't make it for 20 minutes though.
I'll try again tomorrow. I can't say I need a rest because I didn't complete the sets.

CARLTA1-

You are supposed to do it every other day to make sure your body has time to recover. That is why there is only 3 days per week in the schedule.

I have a question - On the coolrunnings site it shows Week 1-9 with 3 workouts....As I'm reading some of these posts it looks like you guys are doing this daily. I guess I was assuming I should do week 1 every other day, meaning on week 1 I would run on Monday, Wed, Friday for example...is this wrong? Should I be doing the week 1 each day?

Yesterday I wasn't motivated to do my morning run of training. I finally got motivated yesterday afternoon. Did my w1d2 run and I felt like I could run forever. Maybe I need to up my run time. Right now I'm walking 1 min and running 1 minute. Don't have seconds on my phone which is my clock. I'm feeling pretty good about my running. Excited for w1d3.

I finished W1D1 last night and I feel great. It felt like I had just won a marathon! I put my arms in the air and said "YES"!! I always thought that I could not be a runner and it felt like I had climb a mountain. I guess that says something about the limitations that we place unnecessarily on ourselves. Thanks for this team - very helpful and supportive!!

I tried this past Fall and made it to week 6... then got sick (just a flu, nothing life changing) and fell off the wagon.

In January I started Sparkpeople and just read the DailySpark blog this morning and thought, "hey, I want to give it another shot!" Here goes nothing! ;)

I am doing W1D4 tonight. I know there is no day 4, but I don't feel quite ready to move on, plus it is really hard to run when it is so cold! Wish me luck and hopefully I will be on W2D1 this weekend!

I just finished W1D2. I felt better and worse than the first day. Today my lungs and head felt better - felt like I was in more control. But my feet and legs don't feel as good. I did try to go a little harder today, and my running companion (125lb dog, Elle) was pulling to the side to sniff more than usual today, threw me off balance a couple times. But its done and I'm feeling good.

I had intended to start March 1, but I tried W1D1 today to make sure I could do it, and I did! So I am beginning today.

I had to go really slow - I started out walking @ 4.2 km/hr and running @ 7.2 km/hr and couldn't do it - so I slowed down to walking @ 4.0 km/hr and running @ 6.0 km/hr and it was really tough, but I did it - and I only had to hang on to the front of the treadmill once.

I feel like I have actually exercised, as opposed to my usual routine of 30 min. walk/jog. This one is faster. Listening to the Podrunner interval podcast kept me going. This is my first time trying C25K, and my goal is to run a 5k by the end of June.

I did D1W1, but I didn't find it too bad. I think I'm going to just do MWF for this entire thing.

Hi my name is Lin. Time zone GMT-5
The plan is to do Zumba at least 2-3 times per week and TRX or other hour long workout once per week.... (or 2 half hour workouts). Total goal 500-1000 fitness minutes weekly.

BUT i injured my knee so I have to learn to do some chair exercises. Please ask me if I started yet.... cuz I probably didnt.

Today I did W1D1. I was able to finish, but it was hard. I am really out of shape! I am so impressed with all of you who are out running in the cold and snow. I live in Florida and did my running on the treadmill at the Y! I ran at 5.5mph and walked at 3.8mph with a bit of an incline. I started at 3% but by the end I was at 1%. Looking forward to D2 and seeing if it is any easier the 2nd time.

Yesterday was W1D2 for me. It was cccooooold outside at first, wind whipping in my face. But, as I started my first 60 second run, the most amazing thing happened...I wasn't cold anymore, somehow!! LOL.
Anyway, it was a bit easier the second time and I felt exhilarated afterwards! Hooray me.
I CAN be an athlete after all.....who knew?
