Im almost embarrassed to post my time, after that amazing performance..wow!
My personal best for 5K is at 31 min, 45 s., so I definitely am not setting any records..I plan to enter my first official race Sept 19, and my goal is 30 min..
Will post back after that ( gulp)

Yay!!! I finished in 25:15:591, a full minute faster than my first 5K. I was quite a bit farther back in the pack this time, but this is a much bigger, faster, elite race. I'm very happy with my performance and looking forward to another run in September.

Something to work on before then: Kegels! (TMI-I leaked the entire race, thank goodness for black running shorts!)

I'll be running in my 2nd 5K this morning. My goal is less than 26 minutes, which means shaving 20 seconds off the time of my first 5K. I think it's totally doable, but I'll check back later and let everyone know how I did.

Shelley, that's so great that you're doing another clinic! What a neat way to improve your running. I bet you'll be running 10K in no time! It just kind of creeped up on me, you might surprise yourself.

Julie, great to hear! From what the runners at work tell me, I will want to do that one day too..But I don't believe it..I am still working the 5K thing. RE-signed up for a second 10 week clinic and am working on my pace. Dont know that I would even move to 10k, but hey, at least I can ( almost :-) say I like running!! 6 months ago I could barely say the word "run"
Good luck!!

Hope everyone is doing well!! I'm still here and still running. Need to start adding in sprints again I think. I'm now considering training for a 1/2 marathon, crazy huh?!

Have a great week!

It's been awhile but I've been following my 4 day/week training schedule. This past Saturday I was scheduled to run 5.5 miles (working towards 10K) but about 3/4 of the way through I was feeling pretty good and decided to just go for it. I ran the whole 10K in 56 minutes! Now I'm contemplating trying for a 1/2 marathon. We'll see. I also really want to better my time for the 5K distance. I'd like to be able to finish in under 26 minutes by the end of the month.

Happy Running!

Hi everyone..Just a quick update..The last 3 running classes have gone great! Best pace, best length to date..And, yesterday, I did my first OUTSIDE 5K. Plotted a run on mapmyrun.com , found a shady loop on the trail and said, "I'm going for it!". Took me 34 minutes..I was finally a jogger with a smile..Next goal is to run in an organized event..looking for something in Sept. so it's hopefully a bit cooler!
I am finally there..I think?
Julie that's too bad about the one run, but you have a great plan and I am sure you will continue to be successful! I plan to run the distance 2-3 times a week for a couple of weeks, then start working on improving my time..
Great to hear from you ....Good luck

Hey Shelley, Hope your running class went great!

I had my worst run ever on Monday...tried to run in the evening after dinner. Such a bad idea. I was supposed to run 3 miles and I had to stop and walk after 2.4, even completing that much was tough. Ugh. Never again will I run on a full stomach!

My mile this morning went much better. I'm going to stick with just one on Wednesdays but see how fast I can complete it. This morning I was just about 8 minutes. I'd really like to be around 7.5 minutes by the end of summer. Not for the longer runs, but for the 1-1.5 mile distance.

Tomorrow is 2 miles and then another 5 on Saturday. Happy Running!

It's really interesting to me how different we all are. I ran on the treadmill Thurs, just because I have been so disheartened with my outside runs..Ran at 4% incline at 4.9km/hr for 25min with absolutely no problem at all..It seemed 10x easier for me than my runs outside.
Weird eh? I am going to take my music for my running class tomorrow, to see if I it helps me..Wondering if some of my issues are that , without music, I can hear every breath, every step etc. :-)
Check back with y'all soon! Have a great weekend..

I agree that eating less(or sleeping less) than normal can definitely affect your running. I've had some tougher days, but always feel better when I get the other areas back on track.

I did try running on a treadmill on Thursday morning. We were in a hotel and I thought, why not? I ran 1.5 miles at about my normal pace and I have to say, I was not at all impressed. People who can run on a treadmill officially have my respect. I can't do it.

This morning was a long run for me. I had a goal that I wanted to start extending my distance, so I mapped out a 5 mile route. I set a moderate pace and took off. I finished it in 48 minutes and actually felt really good. It would have been even better if it wasn't quite so humid (almost 80%).

I hope everyone finishes the week strong and has a great weekend!

I feel like I have a touch spell every time I get on the treadmill. I need for this endless heat wave to end so I can get back running outside during the day. On the mornings that I get up and run, I can tell the difference when I've had a good night sleep or a bad one. I'm sure whether you've eaten well that day or not will have an effect.

Well I gotta admit I had my worst running experience so far, on Monday..It poured heavy, heavy rain,, not soooo bad , but I hit the 12 min mark and I suddenly got very weak and my face started to tingle..usually my warnings signs that I am about to pass out..Walked for a bit, tried to run again, but the same weakness wave came over me..I had had a busy day out of town and had not eaten my usual meals / snacks, so hoping that was the reason..Today I made 3 x10 min intervals and went almost 5K..It was hot and it was hard work..Sure hope it gets a bit easier soon, I dont want to give up...Did any of you have tough spells?

Hi everyone! I hope you all got in some great running last week. I feel like I've been way out of the loop, but I'm working my way back.

I ran my first 5K on Saturday and finished in 26:19. I'm really pleased with that time, even if I did push a bit harder than my body wanted. It sets me up for quite a challenge to beat that time on my next race though.

Hope you all have a great week!

Way to go ICAN..So glad you are able to get back in the swing of things! You certainly need to listen to your body and take care of yourself..Managed a 3 x 10 min run on Sunday...then this heatwave hit so it was a much shorter run on Monday..just too hot..
I signed up for a 20 min. challenge run on July 21..thats going to be a stretch, but hey..sometimes you gotta reach ...right?

Congrats Shelley, that's great! I never finished week 9 of C25K. The heart palpitations that I was experiencing slowed me down. They come and go now, but I'm getting back into the grove. I ran just under 2 miles this morning around the neighborhood, bright and early (5:00am). If I run at lunchtime on the treadmill I only run 1 mile. Once this heat wave breaks and I can get back outside at lunchtime, I'll increase those runs to 2 miles. I'll get to week 9 at some point.....

I got out this morning and did about ~3 miles on a local wooded trail. It was really nice, a good change from running the streets of my neighborhood. Going to try to do the whole 4.8 mile trail on Monday.

Just an update to close out the week..Made Wednesday running clinic ( was it HOT!!!) . We were doing 5 cycles of run 3 walk 1. A small group of us were slightly ahead, and felt so good we did an extra 3 :-)
Today I took myself to the trail nearby and did 5 cycles of run 5min walk 1min. I am finding I am starting to look forward to running! WooHoo.
Hope everyone else is well and I wish you all a great weekend. Next running clinic is Sunday morning..

Hi there ICAN...here is the link to running room website...Not sure where you are from..Looks like they are primarily Canadian, with location in Minnesota and Iowa
I had heard about their clinics through folks at work..
I cannot get the link to paste as a link so you might have to type this in manually
http://www.runningroom.com/hm/
Lots of info there..

way to go Julie/ woodmom..You guys are runners for sure..
I decided to join the local running room's "learn to run" program. Had my first session yesterday. They were in week 3 already which was 3 min run , 1 min walk for 5 cycles. In spite of my apprehension about running with other people ( I'm actually quite shy in group settings ) I found them quite welcoming and managed the session okay. I could likely have run longer, but I think starting back a bit is a good way to build my confidence and think about my technique. I can feel it a bit in my knees today, but that's like because the route to the trail requires some running on sidewalks..
Back I go on Wed..
Have a good week...And thank you all for the suggestions and sharing your experiences!

I did my long run on Saturday (4.5 miles @ 9min/mi)-I'm not sure the socks made any difference, but I have them, so I'll definitely wear them. I did another 3 miles this morning and I'm feeling pretty good.

Shelley-I think that's what I love about running outside, I don't have anything dictating my speed. I do what feels comfortable and I adjust as each new songs comes on my mp3 player.

Hi Everyone! I haven't posted in a while, but I have still been running. I am running 4 days a week and am slowly increasing my mileage. I run for mileage now instead of time. I am seeing my speed increase without really even trying. Today was my "long" run of 2.6 miles.

It's pretty exciting to see everyone staying consistent and to hear reports of us wearing out our first pairs of running shoes. Keep on running!

Hi everyone.. Second outside running session completed. I ran more than the 8 minutes session, but did not quite make the full 20 min of day 3 week 5 ( estimating I ran 17 minutes..) Not quite as tough as the first one, but it's still quite an adjustment.
Could be all in my head, but the impact on ground vs treadmill is just SO different. I think the movement of the belt helps pace you as well, whereas outside, I am on my own..Gonna stick with it though!
I also have Asics Kayanos (?) and they are AWESOME..I have had no issues with any soreness or shin splints ( touch wood)..They are 4 months old and are just about ready to be replaced.
Planning to head back to the trail to run tomorrow..wish me luck and I'll check back with y'all later!
Glad everyone is posting once in a while so I can keep tabs on you all emoticon

Ah.. there's my updates... I knew you guys were posting interesting posts but I just couldn't see them...
I loved my Asics shoes too. I decided to try a Nike + pair as I was interested in getting the beanpod for my shoe and use as a pedometer. I've found them comfy and have no regrets on getting them.
How are your special socks, Freck? Just before my first race my hubby bought me a new shirt (with dragonflies on it - what else???) and some "sock guy" socks. They have all sorts of funky designs on them and I got a black cat on mine (in memory of my fabulous cat, Coco, who died in January). They are great for running (I found with my generic cotton socks that I was getting rubbing under the toes as my feet began to perspire) and they are funky too.

How's everyone doing?? Something is wonky with my feeds on here... I don't see the updates from the rest of you on the thread since my last post until I post again... strange.
I'm actively searching for other local race events to register for. I need that as I know I've been less driven to get out 3 times a week for my runs. Still considering it important, but I'm letting life get in the way and allowing myself excuses to defer a run until another day.
I did go out this morning for a 6k run. Beautiful temperature and conditions for a run. That was a great adrenalin rush!!
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Julie

ICANFLYTOO: You might need a separate pair of walking shoes for the walking. They have different cushioning and flexibility than running shoes.

We've all been running now for about 3 months, so we may be wearing out our first pair of shoes. I am noticing the balls of my feet are starting to hurt after the longer runs. I might have to break out my extra pair and see if that makes a difference.

I'll keep those sneakers in mind. I bought a new pair of Asics back in March. They fixed the arch pain I was having, but they do not have enough cushion in the front of the shoe. They are fine when I run, but the balls of my feet burn when I walk long distances. I can run 2 miles, but not walk 2 miles in them. I've tried several different inserts but nothing feels comfortable. Pretty annoying for a new pair of sneakers. So if anyone knows of a good insert for the balls of the feet, I'd love to hear about it!

Congrats on doing an outdoor run! You took the hardest step. I think a lot of it is mind set. Even now after 3+ months of running outside, I still worry about how I'll do on the "hills" I need to run. Keep it up and I bet you'll progress faster than you think.

I did a quick mile this morning to break in my new sneaks. They felt really good. I got the Asics Gel Kayano 16 (I just wore out the 15s) and they are super comfy and have offset laces to ease the pressure on the top of your foot. I also bought (on the suggestion of my hubby) a pair of running socks (which cost an outrageous amount!) I can't wait to try them together for my long run on Saturday.

Happy running this week!

I wonder how much of the treadmill/outside running is mindset? I am able to run 2.5 miles outside with no problem. I get on a treadmill and I swear I can only make it 1 mile. I also know that I set myself up for only running 1 mile on the treadmill.

Tried my first running session outside today..Was that different. The whole mechanics of running was a lot different than running on the treadmill. ( I have been running at 2.5% incline). I wasnt sure I how long I would be able to run. I have set myself back to week 5, Day 2 which is 2 x 8 min, with a 3 minute walk in between..Managed to accomplish it, but I will be there for a while..

Thanks for the cheer Julie..Looking forward to trying the outside thing..Not sure why I am apprehensive about it. Maybe because I have always been a bit of a "wall flower" and feel like outside is where everyone can watch me ( like they would be :-)
Hope the weather holds today and that you have a great time at the wedding!
I see your runs are getting longer and longer..Congrats!

That's great Shelley! Congrats again! I think you'll love running outside. Today was just about perfect here in upstate NY.

Hi Gals! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. I'm gearing up for another long run in the morning. 4.5 miles again. Need to burn some calories before the wedding tomorrow afternoon!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Shelley, Congrats on graduating! That's awesome!

I'm working on extending my distance and trying to increase my time. I'm using my shorter runs (1-2 miles) to really step up my speed and see how quick I can complete them. My longer runs are at a slower, steadier pace. I agree that starting back at intervals seems like a step backwards, but like you, I might need something like that after the winter break.

I did 3.29 miles today at ~9.5 min/mi.

Dragonfly: Congrats on your 5K run! How did it go? I am not following a program, but am working on increasing my endurance and distance. I took the mileage that I was running in 3 days/week and divided it up for 4 days/week. So I am running less each day, but one more day a week. Wednesday and Sunday are my longest runs and Monday and Friday are my shortest. I increase 2 of my runs by about 1/2 mile, so that I am increasing my mileage by no more than 10% a week. So far so good!

Dragonfly - I also suffer from IT Band pain. I bought a foam roller and use that. It hurts like crazy, but the more I use it, the less it hurts and I definitely think it made a difference. Most of the pain is gone now. Still working on getting the rest of the body back to par, hopefully soon. Keeping up with the short runs for now.

Yea! Yea! Yea! Beanpod!!!!! Congrats on your graduation! So proud of you!

I've been in slow down mode since my 5k race weekend last weekend. Did one 35 min run on Friday and am getting IT band pain. Has anyone else had that? I've got stretches to do from physio at work, but it is still aggravated. As long as I can keep the pain at bay I want to try increasing my distance. I was checking out some of the nike+ training/coach programs and they look pretty interesting. Has anyone else found an interesting program to move on from the C25K? Or are you just gradually increasing distance? I really liked the structure of the C25K and think I will personally do better if I have a program to follow... no cheating or cop outs then!! I was using podrunner intervals from itunes for the C25K but it seems like such a step back to start at week 1 of the Gateway to 8K or his 10K program. I am kinda seeing those as options for starting back up after a hiatus (like our Ottawa winter :-0 ) He goes back to intervals but they are really short durations mixed with plenty of walking. It does eventually progress to the 8 or 10k so maybe I'll just find a mid range week and start there. Any other suggestions?

Hi ladies..I have returned from the windy city..Quite a week..No fruits or veggies to be found in any meals ( all supplied) and no grocery store for miles. ( and no car :-(.
However, I DID manage 3 running sessions on the hotel treadmills. Each 30 minutes..so thats week 9! I have not quite made a 5K total, so I know my pace is slow, but at least I am getting there..I think I will stay at this interval and work to get the pace up a bit, to at least be able to say I have run 5K.
Julie you continue to set the bar for me..I am a few weeks behind you, but I like seeing your posts ..I see them as a program for me to strive to achieve, once I have "graduate".
"Icanfly"..Am very concerned to read your post..You make sure you take care of yourself...The running program, and all of us , will be here when you are back to 100%...Sending good luck wishes and positive thoughts your way..
Have a good weekend..Catchya next week!

You will rock that 5K in October! Glad to hear you're still running, even if it's not ideal conditions. Hope you're back on the road soon.

I did a long run this morning. 4.5 miles in 41 min. I'm really enjoying the longer runs, though I think I'll stay with this distance for at least a week or 2. I've been doing a long run on Monday and Saturday with 2 shorter runs on Wed and Thurs. It's worked for me the last couple of weeks and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm maintaining about a 9 min/mi pace for the longer runs, but I have picked up speed on the shorter runs.

Have a great weekend everyone!

So quiet -- I, myself, still have not started W9. Been running on the treadmill, but just a mile. Hate the treadmill.....it's too warm at lunchtime to run outside. If we get a break in the weather I'll get it done, otherwise I'll need to find a route around home to run at night. I'm hoping to run in the Race for a Cure 5K in October so I don't want to stop now.

Hi all. I've been out of commission the past week. Having heart palpitations and wasn't sure why. Still working on a diagnosis, but the doctor thinks it's blood pressure. Didn't run for fear of keeling over. It's hot here this week so I think I'll be taking it easy inside. Maybe a little running on the treadmill and using the elliptical. Not sure when I'll get week 9 started and done, I'm so close!!!

Wow...it's so quiet...

I've been getting out and keeping up with my running. I did 2.5 miles on Saturday (in the rain-I now consider myself a runner) and 3.7 today, both at right around a 10 min/mi pace. I've found that how much sleep I get really impacts my running. I truly need ~8 hours to run at my peak. I've been getting 6-7. My biggest problem has been going to sleep on time.

Hope everyone is having a great long weekend! Good luck with your runs this week!

Julie..Great progress ..Sounds like you are truly a runner...Dragonfly ..good luck this weekend! Sending lots of energy your way. I am sure you will do great!
I completed W8D2 today..Each time I have been almost convinced I would not make the 28 min, but then I do! That's exciting..Supposed to move to Week 9 next week, but I am in Chicago on a business trip all week, so not sure whether it will work for me ( I am a treadmill runner)..However I will take my "stuff" and hope for the best..Probably will be some high end eating, so will need to burn the calories :-)
Best of luck to all

HI everyone! Great job keeping up with the running!

Dragonfly-I can't wait to hear about your race!!

I did 1 mile on Tuesday, sort of a timer just to see how fast I could go. I did it in 8:36:27. I'll probably do another in a month or so to see if I have improved. I also went out today and did another 2 miles. I was a little slower, but I was tired and it is already hot, so I'm okay with it. I have already mapped out a 2.5 mile route at our friend's house to run on Saturday and then Monday I'm going to run 3.75 (or so). I think I'll need to add some more music to my mp3 player!

Have a wonderful day!

Hi Ladies...
just checking in. It has been a busy week and haven't been keeping up on here! I've got my first 5k coming up this weekend. This is with a huge race weekend here in Ottawa (includes 2k, 5k, 10k, half and full marathons). I think there are 8500 people registered for the 5k and my boss (who is an ironman triathlete) said that you are pretty much boxed in for the entire course when there are that many participants. It will be a culture shock after doing my running on the Trans Canada Trail behind my house and many times it was just me, the birds and a few deer on the trail on my morning runs.
I'll report back after the race!!!

It sounds like everyone is doing really well! I'm coming off of a sleepless weekend. We had our Girl Scout camping trip to the beach. It was a great experience, but so cold on the beach in tents! I'll be sure to pack more blankets next year! It's a rainy day here so I won't be able to get outside, plus I need to fit in a trip to the grocery today. Had to send my daughter to school with pb on a hot dog roll!

Beanpod, glad you managed to still get in some runs on your trip. Good luck with your runs this week.

I have never run on a treadmill, so I can't compare, but I have to think that I would find it more difficult as well. I love the changing scenery that the road offers and I like that I'm training under similar conditions to a race.

Ran another 2 miles this morning. Was able to drop my time to 9 min/mile, WOOT! It feels really good to know I can do that, even with one fairly substantial hill about 3/4 of the way through.

Keep up the great work everyone!

thanks for the words of encouragement there Woodmom..I have not yet looked into a specific 5k run in my area..
I have been working the program on my treadmill..Once I have completed week 9, I plan to start again outside.
I saw Ican fly's post about finding running on the treadmill harder than outside..I am the opposite I am intimidated to run outside! I think I needed to lose more weight before I pound my poor knees on that hard ground :-)..I have now been told to ensure my incline is at a 3% before moving to outside..I have been running at 1.5% , have compled W7D2 and plan to move to 2% for the last run, then 3% for week & 9..
Was away this week, but managed to use a hotel treadmill so I am "hanging in there"
have a good weekend all!

Hey everyone! Great job on your runs this week. I got out and ran 3.25 mi. this morning. I can really feel the weight on this week dragging at my feet, but I pushed through and made it.

Busy day today. Hopefully the energy from my run will get me through most of it.

I finished up W8 earlier this week, but do not plan on starting W9 until Monday. We are going away on Friday and I know I won't be running this weekend. I did run a mile today on the treadmill and did strength training, so I'm still working, just not on W9. I probably should have pushed and did W9D1 today on the treadmill, but I have such a hard time running on the treadmill. It just seems so much harder to me than running outside.

I am feeling kind of lost now that I've finished C25K. It's hard to know what to do next. I really like having a program that tells me what to do. I've been surfing the web a lot and found that all the 5K training programs assume you have a hefty running base of at least 6 months of running at least 12-15 miles a week. The training programs are designed to have you run the race on the last day of training.

What I need is another goal to work towards, so here it is: I have signed up for another 5K on October 23 and I want to beat my first 5K time. For now, I will work on my base, running 4 days a week and increasing my mileage by 10% a week. I will start a training program 9-12 weeks before the race, depending on the program's length. I am thinking about the "Coach Jay 5K" or the "5K Training" on the Nike website. The PolarUSA website can also put together training programs. There are plenty more programs on active.com, jeffgalloway.com, etc. I'll decide as I get closer.

My husband told me to take this week off, but I'm dying to get out there and run. So, I'm going to go for a short 1 mile run today. See Ya!

Hi ladies..Just checking in..Started Week 7 today..Did the 25 run without too much difficulty..My hamstring is pretty quiet these days, so that definitely helps..Slowly I am catching up ;-P

You graduates are keeping me inspired to complete the program..Not sure that I will become a runner of more than 5K, but that remains to be seen.

Have a good evening all and happy running!

Hey Frecks
I'm in the same boat as you with wondering how to proceed after this 5k program. I looked at one that was a "gateway to 8k" and then he has a 10k one after that. But it is all intervals and seems to be such a step back from what we are doing right now. I sort of like how these past few weeks have progressed us... 20, 25, 28, 30 mins for each week. I'm sort of thinking that I might do 32, 34 36 etc. and work my way towards the 10k. I have some dedicated running friends at work (one who did the C25k program 2 years ago and is running in a 1/2 marathon this weekend. It would be good to see what she suggests.
Anyone else have an idea of how they will go on after the 5k??

Just checking in with everyone! I am SO impressed with so many people graduating! Hopefully our graduates will still post here, as I think we have become a great, close group of friends!

I miss the running, and can't wait for Plantapalooza to be over so I can get back to it.

Sending my best wishes to everyone for great runs this week! You are all doing a FANTASTIC job!

Karen, that's awesome, congrats!!

I got out and ran 3 miles this morning. I didn't really worry about my time, just wanted to do it. I'm still not sure what I want to do moving forward. I really think I want to start working towards a 10K, but I don't know if I want to just keep trying to add time/distance weekly or if I want to go back to running intervals. Maybe intervals 2 days each week and then one long run the last day. I'll decide next week.

Congratulations Frecks and Dragonfly for graduating C25K. You have worked so hard and I am so proud of you!

I ran in my first 5K on Saturday. It was a tough course, with 5 hills and no true flat sections. I wish I could say that I ran the whole thing, but I had to take 3 short walk breaks up 3 of the hills, because my heart rate monitor was telling me my heart rate was at 100%! I stayed close to this one girl the whole race, but at the last hill, I decided to power up the hill by pumping my arms. I left her in the dust according to my husband! I ran as hard as I could across the finish line and finished in 36:38. I was expecting 38 minutes, so I am really pleased with how I did. It was encouraging to see my family at various points of the race course cheering me on. Even some of my daughter's track friends yelled encouragement to me as they ran past me (they on their way back to the finish, me trying to get to the halfway point!)

This week will be a recovery week and then I will try to run 4 times a week with 3 short runs and one long run. I have my eye on another 5K in October, so I'll just try to work on endurance for now, and then do another training starting in August to increase my speed.

Beanpod, Icanflytoo, Debbie and others: Keep up the good work! I'm so proud of your perseverance. You're making such great progress!

So, tomorrow morning is scheduled to be my last run of the program. I have decided that I will do a local fun run against childhood obesity as my last run tomorrow. I can't wait! I think it's so appropriate and a great opportunity.

Great jobs there Dragonfly & I can fly..you are soooo close! You are inspiring me to keep going..
Did Week 6D3 today...so got through that 25min run..wasnt sure when I started that I would get through..part of that psychological thing again I think, so I told myself just go for 10, then go for 12.5 since that's half way, then before I knew it it was 20 min gone with only 5 to go..Anyway..onward to week 7 next week
Have a good weekend everyone..Julie, been thinking about you and your 5K...best wishes..you will do great!

Dragonfly - that is great! I did W8D2 today. It felt a little bit harder than D1, but I believe that was due to the high humidity. Glad I pushed through anyway. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hey ladies! Hope everyone is having a good running week!
I got my W9D1 in on Wednesday and it went really well. 30 mins went by really quickly and I was done before I knew it. I went just over 5k on that run which made me feel great!
I skipped running on Monday to go out for dinner and shopping with a girlfriend. It was time for some girlfriend therapy so didn't feel guilty about missing my usual running day!
Happy weekend, all!

Awesome running this week everyone! I did D2of W9 today. It was a little warmer (by about 5*, but it flt warmer) than Tuesday but it was foggy! For most of my run I couldn't see the end of the street I was on. I still can't decide if it made it harder or easier to not be able to see a point in the distance.

My time was about the same as Tuesday, I think my lack of good sleep is really catching up to me.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Sorry ladies..another strange electronic gremlin..Did not see anyone's posts since Karen's on May 11, until I posted mine..
Way to go Freck..You are almost there..
Deb..Just my two cents..don't let the thought of the 20 min get you psyched out..Give it a shot..and what the heck,,if you gotta stop running and walk ,,do it..Who's taking notes? Least then you will know, right? You might be suprised..
Also I dont know if you saw my post from a long time ago, but one piece of advice I was given was to run slowly..A long time runner told me that most new runners give up because they start at too fast a pace..Just thought I would share..Stick with it ..You CAN do it!!

Congratulations, ICANFLYTOO, BEANPOD and FRECKS! You are doing great!

Debbie: You're making great progress through one of the toughest parts of the program. I am wondering when you decided, "I'm not ready to run 20 minutes"? Was it during the run or before you even started? IF it was before, I would encourage you to go ahead and try the 20 minute run. You won't know until you try. The whole point of the long run is to build your confidence that you can do it! This is more a mental challenge than a physical one. Take a route that you are familiar with, so you know how close you are to the finish. Now, I'm not saying it will be easy, but if you believe in yourself, I think you will do better than you think. (By the way, your 10-3-10 run was actually the W6D2 workout!)

Best wishes to all runners this week! Go for it!

Deb....fantastic job, and great advice to yourself. I don't have any other advice, because I was going to suggest just increasing the minutes one by one (which is what I will be doing when I can resume the program). I just keep telling myself it's not how fast I complete the program, just that someday I will complete it (if my feet will cooperate)

Great job on your run today!

OK W5D3 today (sort of). I didn't feel ready for a 20 minute run without a break, so I did 2 10 minute runs with a 3 minute walk in between. The last couple of minutes were tough, my legs felt like jello when I finished LOL! But I did it! I think I'll keep adding a minute to the first run and decreasing the rest time until I'm running the full 20 without a break. Any other suggestions? Looks like you're all doing well. Keep up the great work everyone!

Oh Man, was it cold this morning!!! Frost on the ground and mid-30's-but I did it, week 9, day 1-DONE.

It went pretty good. I had mapped out an extended route last night, making my total 4 miles. I finished it in 41 minutes, so my pace was a little slower than last Friday. I still need to figure out my actual running distance, but I think it was about 6mph.

I'm looking forward to Thurs and Saturday-it should be a bit warmer!

Have a great run today or tomorrow if you're going! Keep up the great work!
