Hope:

I will weigh in on Wednesday, so I will let you know how things go!

How awesome for you to be back online after only what, 10 days after giving birth???!! It took me 8 months before I could find the energy to even CONSIDER myself again!! I suppose it might be easier the second time around??

How is your son adjusting to the new little princess?

I have an older brother, (by only by 2 years, tho) and when I was brought home from the hospital, he ran down the hallway and on purpose went head first into the couch and cut split his forehead open...guess HE was not that happy that I was around. It took him about 16 years to get over it!!
AHHH, siblings....

Hey Diane

Did the extra protein help? I find that when I eat more protein I am less likely to veer from the plan.

All the best.

I'm back down 3 lbs this week, so back to where I was 3 weeks ago before my derailment!! Glad it only took me one week to get there. I am trying to add more protein to my diet, and shake things up a bit to see if that will keep me chugging along in the right direction.

Hope things are going well for you all...if there's anyone else out there still checking in in this group??

Hey All: Since we are all parents of young ones, I just thought I'd check in with you to see what ideas you have to keep the winter blues from setting in? We live in MN, and we have LOTS of snow this year, and our daddy is WAY overprotective and does not like us to venture out on the cold days. So that keeps is inside most of the time, and I feel like Justine gets bored some days with the same old stuff.

Do you have any ideas for me to help keep her occupied until we can get outside again? She is 18 months old.

Hope you all have a great weekend!!

Not yet Dawn.

C-Section scheduled for the 18th (Thursday) if I don't go before hand.

Glad you had a good time with hubby's female relatives, and some new recipes to boot! Drink lots of water today and try and flush out your system.

Well the Texas relatives have gone back South for the remainder of the winter! We all had a great time having fun outside in the snow and shopping and eating. We hosted a Lebanese dinner here at our house, so I got to see firsthand how to prepare some of the Lebanese dishes that my husband loves so much. These were my husband's mother's relatives that came up, and she was 100% Lebanese. I hope I can make some of these things on my own now...but everything is so time consuming to make!!

Anyway, it was great fun, but my diet DID suffer for those 5 days, and I was not able to get in very much exercise, either. I will hit the scale tomorrow, but I'm not sure I will be willing to post what it says!! I may just silently record it in my journal at home, and wait until next week to post, hoping that another week on track will make a difference.

HOPE: Have you had that baby yet????

OK, I will try to work it into my calories intake today and I will try to keep it in check!

It should be easier to keep in check today, because I weighed in this morning to a 1 lb gain this week. UG! That really bums me out. Seems like a week I was doing OK, so I'm not really sure what the difference was. My calorie intake has been on the high side, or over a few days, but I had done a lot more exercise for the week, and the site even gave me a note that said I had done so much exercise that I might want to adjust my calories up a bit...so I thought I was doing OK. Obviously not. And my husband's relatives are coming in town tomorrow for 5 days, and we will be hosting some of them at our house, so I KNOW it is going to be difficult to eat well the rest of the week. But I must try, because I do NOT want to gain 2 weeks in a row!

Feeling a little deflated today...

Oh Dawn....

Baking. Yes I do that too. Why not bake a batch of cookies, muffins, lemon squares, banana bread, you name it... just to have on hand. Here is my tip...you can't bake and not indulge, you have to have at least a piece of whatever it is you are baking, right? Well work that in to your food allowance. There is no sense in depriving yourself, because later you will binge, and you know you will. Why not browse through the spark recipes and see if there is anything that tickles your fancy that is lower in fat, calories etc...

Good Luck.

Ugggghhhhhh!! I am having another major sweet tooth break-down. I had two fig newtons, one Dove Promise and a Kudos after lunch...adding up to 232 empty calories of junk. And I am planning on making a batch of chocolate chip cookies for when the relatives come to have on hand...and I KNOW half the reason I want to make them is because I REALLY want to eat about six cookies worth of dough as I'm baking them!!!

HELP...I need self control HELP!!!!

Just checking in to see how we are all doing after the weekend. Nothing major going on for me, but we are getting ready to have my husband's relatives in from Texas for the long weekend (I live in MN). They love to come and "visit" the snow and cold and then go back to their heat down South...who can blame them??

Hope all is going well for all of you and you all have a super week!

Ha!! When I first read this I though you were saying your son was 10 MONTHS old...and I know you are only DAYS away from giving birth again...you almost gave me a heart attack for you!!

Yes, I will try to do everything I can to stay home for as long as possible. I may have to look into alternative means to working at home that is not in my actual profession...you know, like the "medical billing specialists" you always see advertised that you can do from home with the little ones.

Dawn I feel for you with the decisions. It is a challenge trying to find that right balance for you and your family.
I struggle with this as well. When my son, who is turning 10 this month was born, I tried many different avenues to earn an income be able to spend more time with him.

I have had too many careers in the past 10 years trying the next best thing...:) I was just getting content in the current position of over two years, that is a record in the past 10 years. This job requires a bit of travel, about 6-8 times a years I am gone for approx 3 days, and with a husband and a 10 year old this schedule worked fine...with a baby, I'm not so sure.

I also need to make some decisions...although I have a year of maternity leave here in Canada so I can take my time and look at other options over the next 11 months.

Everything points to making sacrifices to stay at home with my little one. I just can't think of leaving her full time, and I just can't think of turning over the bulk of her day to another person to be in charge of her. I would miss being with her too much, she is such fun and she is at such an impressionable age. i really think I need to be here for her. We'll take the finances day by day and see what happens.

Happy Mid-Week Everyone!!

I am SSOOOOOOOO excited that I made it past the halfway mark today!!! I have been losing so slowly the past few weeks, but this week made a nice big jump!! I am now down 17 lbs and I am feeling really good about that! I know the second half is traditionally slower and longer to lose, but to get halfway there is such a great milestone!! I know I will be looking great by the time I get out those shorts and think about taking my toddler to swimming lessons!!

Moxy: We eat Japanese food probably once a week, sometimes sushi (cooked, I can't do the raw stuff) or Yakiniku (grilling meat that has been marinated) along with rice..we do this one at home because its super easy and our commissary typically sells the meat already cut in the right sizes).

I do want to thank all you lovely ladies for the support during my breakdown. I am not sure which is better at this point...sticking to 1200 cal or going closer to the 1500, Ive had quite a few days closer to the 1500 and almost a week where I didn't really keep track and did my first official weigh-in in two weeks and some how I lost 4.7lbs in 2 weeks.

Hey Michelle:

Sounds like you are eating pretty healthy! Bummer that things are so expensive for you there in Japan. I agree that you could find some good recipes on SparkRecipes...there is so much there to look through, and you can find some more things that you like, and the nutritional information is all there.

I have never used the menu suggestions on this site, because I found that the suggestions were not what I would normally eat, and I did not know how to substitute, either.

Also, Weight Watchers has an online site that you can see menus and healthy recipes on, so you could peek at that, too.

Hope some of this helps. Look under "Healthy Lifestyle" and find some articles on MOTIVATION, too, to help you through this time that you are feeling defeated and ready to give up. Getting healthy for your son is the BEST reason to keep at it and NOT give up!! He needs a healthy and happy Mommy to look after him!!!

Moxy: I live in Japan on a military base.Currently I pretty much eat the same things everyday...Breakfast; a fruit (usually a banana or canned peaches), Egg Beaters with weight watchers cheese melted in it. Mid morning snack is a fat free yogurt. Lunch is usually tuna with fat free mayo on honey wheat and a veggie (or sometimes a frozen meal that I can squeeze in while DS naps, because that is also the only time I have to exercise). Mid day I have baby carrots as a snack. Dinner is a meat (pork, chicken or beef), starch and veggies. Desert in the evening is usually either a 100 cal ice cream or a 60cal pudding (to curb my sweet tooth). I am a really picky eater..the only "beans" are green beans, peas and baked beans (IE:Bush's out of a can). Things here are expensive..a bag of chicken with 4-5 pieces in it is $6, we never have fresh chicken, it all comes frozen in bags. Potatoes are $8 for a 4lb bag (leaving me to spend $1 on box potatoes). Small frozen bag of veggies is usually $1.50.

I don't know where you are, but potatoes should be a cheap staple along with rice and beans. Between those, eggs, and veggies (on sale a 10-12oz frozen bag should be $1, fresh may be even cheaper) you should be able to come up with lots of good easy foods!

What are you eating currently?

Hey Mag

Create a menu that you like that is within your budget and your preferences.

Look through the recipes on Spark, see what other people are eating, think about what you would like and add a recipe every week until you find meals/foods/combinations that you like.

You can do this...take small steps to change your lifestyle and reap the rewards.

Im beginning to think Im just not cut out for eating healthy. Im just too picky of an eater. I don't have any variety in my diet and don't know where to get it from. Things here are so expensive and we just can't afford the good stuff on our budget (pint of strawberries $6, 4lb bag of potatoes $8). I try so hard...and I fail everyday. I'm sure it doesn't help that I have NO SUPPORT here, none of my friends have to diet, they can eat whatever they want and still stay skinny, while I struggle everyday sticking to 1200 calories.

Does anyone find the "meal plans" helpful? What about if there is something on there you don't eat, what do you do?

Yikes.

The scale is showing yet another 2 pound gain.

I can no longer see my ankles so there has to be some water weight in there as well.

I am off the the OB today. I have a few, ok a lot of questions about the c-section. Just want to be prepared for my little girl.

Today I must make good choices.

Today I will not beat myself up.

Today I will breathe. Today I will Relax. Today I will be ok!

Happy Monday.

Weight gain has climbed up to 40 give or take a pound, more than likely on the right side :)

I have had a week full of binges...

Homemade muffins
Cinnamon Rolls
Cereal with milk
peanut butter and crackers
cookies
caramels
bread and peanut butter
peanut butter and jam - right from the pot

None of the above in moderation - go hard or go home!

Today the insanity stops....I have already made good choices today.

Seriously what was I thinking?

I feel physically worn out, my hips ache, my back aches I can hardly move and I am tired...bingeing does not help any of the above and will not help prepare me for recovery from the surgery. I so need to focus.

I have 18 days...what else can I do to prepare for the c-section on the 18th.

Can I make it another 18 days.....:)

Hope

Happy Friday!

Just checking in to see how everyone's week has been going. I have been doing well with exercise this week, but have been a bit over several days with calories. I need to get more fruits and veggies in the house to eat, so I can feel more full with fewer calories!

Nothing much on the agenda for the weekend, but were are taking our 17 month old to the zoo on Monday for the first time...looking forward to a fun time for all!!

I'm in King of Prussia PA, outside Philadelphia right down the road from Valley Forge Park.

The kid and I are sick- blech. I take meds and feel better- what can I do for her? She loves her bath with the vapor stuff and our housemate is a PTA so does all this stuff to help encourage mucus break up and teas and stuff, but I feel so bad to hear her cough even if she seems ok. Sigh.

Hope everyone stays healthy!

Oh yea, love those computer problems!! It is amazing how dependent we become to these evil little boxes on our desks!!

I weighed in this morning...another 6/10th of a pound lost...that's three weeks in a row losing the same amount each week...aaaarrruuughgghghghgh!! How about a true full pound, please!! Oh well, I guess I should be happy since I also got the old visit from my monthly friend today. Just wanna curl up in a ball and take a nap!

Keep focused on yourself and your goals, and have a great week everyone!!

It is so nice to be back online. Our computer had to have a little work done on it and now its back up and running better than ever. We upgraded the RAM and put Windows7 on it. This thing has never been better. I haven't been able to use my tools on here, but Ive been watching what I eat and exercising. I will weigh in tomorrow morning (its Tuesday Night here).

Happy Weekend everyone!

Do weekends help or harm your dieting? I always think that they help, but somehow I find by the end of the weekend that they have hindered me. More to do, so less time to focus on myself or something...not quite sure.

Have a good one everyone...where are you all, anyway??

I don't know pre baby, but my problem post baby was that I wasn't eating ENOUGH and it is still my problem. Not as much as it used to be, but my body was convinced I was starving (I guess technically I was) so I didn't lose any weight. I ate enough- bam!- 10 lbs gone.

Make sure you are adding extra calories if you are breast feeding. It may just be like athlete's- your body is so accustomed to all that extra work that now it's confused and still thinking it needs all the extras!

Good luck!

Ok, I have always been curious about this...will you all report back and let me know if you have any trouble staying within your calorie range? Before I got pregnant, I had NO trouble staying within my range (which is 1200-1550). But now, it seems to be much more difficult for me, post-baby. I'd say that I make my range most days...5-6 per week, but it is a lot of tracking and WORK to make sure I get there. I'm just curious if this is easy or hard for others.

Hope you have a great Wednesday!

Hello!

I'm a 31 year old mother of a 20 month old in King of Prussia PA (yes, we live in a monarch of a defuct nation). She is awesome and I am working on getting fit. I'd never really been an "exerciser" (your body gets to expect it and then wants it all the time...::grin::). I am trying to change the way I eat and think about food and exercise so that I never get to a point where I have to worry about my health because of my weight- lots of folks in my family have had this challenge and I am not interested in it. My husband is trying as well, at least in cutting out soda (he tracked for two days and was horrified at his calories).

Nice to meet you all! Have a great day!

Hi There

I'm Hope. 35 weeks pregnant. C - Section scheduled for Feb 18. 29 days to go!

I'm a 37 year old mother to Callum (10 next month). Married to John for 13 years and we are expecting our little girl pretty soon. Just started mat leave and I'm in Canada so we get a year :).

I am looking to stay healthy during this last 4 weeks - then keep healthy habits after baby girl is born. And of course take off all excess weight.

So far I have gained 33 pounds...it is what it is. I'm looking at about 35-40 lb gain overall.

Small daily goals to attain - water - 8 glasses
10 mins cardio daily
babyfit videos - 2 a day
rest daily

Make good choices and drink lots of water, we can do this emoticon

Took Mason to the Dr last night, his cold has moved to his lungs and he has bronchiolitis. It is different than bronchitis but 1 in 5 babies who develop that also have asthma later on in life. I hope we can keep his lungs healthy so that doesnt happen.

Hello everyone,
My name is Michelle. I am 28 (29 in 3 weeks). I have a 17 month old son. My husband is in the military and we live in Japan (moving back to the US in just over 5 months!!!).

Some of the challenges I face when losing weight is finding time to exercise. I want to do it before DS gets up in them morning, but alas he is an early riser and the only way to get him to go back to sleep is to bring him to bed with us (and then he doesn't let me move an inch). My son was born by c-section and it has done a number to my body physically, emotionally and hormonally. It is also very expensive here to buy the fresh produce in order to keep processed foods out of my diet.

I hope to lose 55lbs, Ive lost 3 so far and I started this journey 2 weeks ago.

Hi White Team!
My name is Dawn, and I have been on SparkPeople on and off for over two years! I used it to successfully lose weight before getting pregnant. Then I got pregnant and gained 48 lbs...too much!! I was able to lose a little weight right away because of breastfeeding, but I ended up using it as an excuse NOT to eat right and exercise...besides, the experience, as wonderful as it was, truly drained me and I never had any energy!! So right about mid Nov, when I turned 40 and was still 30 lbs off from my pre-pregnancy weight, I got fed up enough with myself to make ME the priority again, and get on the stick once again with diet and exercise, using SparkPeople to help once more. My daughter, Justine, is 17 months now. We left BF'ing behind in 2009, and so since Jan 1 I have been free to do whatever it takes to get my old self back! I have shed 13 lbs so far, so I am happy with my progress! I have never been in a buddy group before, because I just really have not had the time. But I also got laid off before Thanksgiving, so I am finding more time for myself right now.

I'm excited to meet us all and to help us get revved up to become that healthy person that is inside us all, screaming to get out again and feel the sunshine!!

Hi my name is Ashley. I am a 24 yr old mother to 3 beautiful children. They are 6,4, and 5 months. I stay VERY busy. I also work at a hospital here in town on the transplant unit. I am in the process of being transfered to the ER in the hospital that is due to open in April. I have been with my husband for 7 years (7 1/2 this february) and we have been married 3 1/2 (4 years this march)years.
A few years ago my husband became ill and we decided we wanted to get married before he had his surgery. So we were married in the chapel in the hospital. Til this day we have never had a "real" wedding. My goal is to lose all these "baby lbs", buy a dress that was not bought from the plus sizes, and get remarried on our 5th wedding anniversary in March 2011.
I currently have 110 lbs to lose. I have lost 6.2 of those lbs since the beginning of the year. My mini goal is to lose 2 lbs a week. I know if I keep my mind to it I can do it!
I am new here and I am looking for some buddies, so if anyone is interested please email me.
Good luck to all, and I am looking forward to chatting with many of you.
Best of luck,
Ashley

I am excited about the changes I am already seeing. I need all the motivation and support I can get and I hope to also give motivation and support to others. This is YOUR group until the end of February. Please post often and motivate and support each other as much as possible. Visit each otherís Sparkpages, give Spark goodies, talk about your day, ask about others, even find ways to challenge each other!!

If you stay connected and involved, you will make some great friends before the month is up! So make the most of the time you have to get to know each other!!!

Again, for those of you who just happened to find this team, please DO NOT post here!!

If you would like to know more information about the BSG (Buddy Support Groups), feel free to contact me. Sign-ups for new groups will begin at the end of February.

ATTENTION: To post to your group, please hit REPLY instead of CREATE A NEW TOPIC! This way no one will miss the other's post! You want to stay in the same thread so that you can keep everyone together!!! Also, there would be way to many threads created and it would become hard for everyone to find their teams!!!
