With week 9 and our challenge coming to a close, scale weight statistics for the challenge are as follows:

114.0 lbs. minimum
115.9 lbs. average
117.4 lbs. maximum

This week's (week 9) scale weight statistics:

115.0 lbs. week 9 low
115.40 lbs. 7-day average
115.48 lbs. 10-day average
116.0 lbs. week 9 high

The 28-day (4-week) scale weight statistics:

114.0 lbs. 4-week low
115.4 lbs. 4-week average
116.6 lbs. 4-week high

The 84-day (12-week) scale weight statistics:

114.0 lbs. 12-week low
116.3 lbs. 12-week average
118.4 lbs. 12-week high

I am extremely pleased to see the daily scale weight fluctuations over the 9 weeks of the challenge confined to 3.0%. The daily scale weight fluctuations in the past 9 weeks have amounted to 2.93%.

And, the 12-week daily scale weight fluctuations are very respectable. They have been confined to 3.78% which is well within a +/- 3.0% or 6,0% range centered around 116.3 lbs.

With June behind us, July upon us and August ahead, I remain optimistic that this summer may be different. And, different, in a better and healthier way than what I have experienced over the past 6 years.

During 2019, scale weights have fluctuated over a range amounting to 5.3% centered around 116.7 lbs. Should my body remain within these scale weight fluctuations (114.0 lbs. - 120.2 lbs.), I will have managed to maintain within a range of 6.0% for the first time since this journey began.

I also realize that as I heal the conditions currently challenging my health and well-being that the weight may rise and I am entirely okay with it. Health, strength and energy is what I desire. The weight will be what it will be and my body may choose an entirely different equilibrium point. I trust its innate wisdom to continue to guide me through this process of exploration and return to health and well-being.

Yesterday was my 1st weighin back at home: 121.1. Yikes! I got right back on plan and today weighed 1.4 pounds less. Still higher than I'd like, but correcting course takes time. I'm still hopeful of getting back to my 115.5 center weight in the next challenge.

I've really been too busy to pay a lot of attention to my weight this week, but I have felt quite FLUFFY. So I was happy to see that all in all my trend has remained about the same and my actual this morning was quite low. This week the daily weights ranged from 136.3 (today) to 138.6 on Tuesday. I had pasta again one day and it didn't seem to have an ill effect, and I also was able to integrate more veggies in. I've also indulged in some lattes this week so all in all it feels like despite some indulgences, I have been eating well enough to maintain the trend. I've been going to yoga regularly, four times this week, and running. Last night's run was cut short due to a sudden electrical storm, and I only ran 1.5 miles - not what I had hoped for but at least I got some exercise.

I'm in the cab heading to the airport to go home. The conference was good, but I ate way too much carbs and sugar the last 2 days. I'm looking forward to eating LOTS of veggies the next few days, before heading out on vacation!

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

Hi Elona,

We are in week 8 until 11:59 pm Eastern time on Tuesday, June 25.

Week 9 will come to an end at 11:59 pm Eastern time on Tuesday, July 2.


For a goal (or center) weight of 130 lbs. The +/- 3.0% range is 126.1 lbs. - 133.9 lbs.

For a goal (or center) weight of 125 lbs. The +/- 3.0% range is 121.25 lbs. - 128.75 lbs.

So, choose the goal weight with the range that you feel is maintainable for you.


Example:

130 - 3.0% = 130*0.97 = 126.1 lbs.
130 + 3.0% = 130*1.03 = 133.9 lbs.

Ranges this week from 137.0 to 139.2 with 137.8 and 138.0 being common. Trying to not binge. Upped running distance slightly this week, two sessions of yoga. I try to avoid pastas and lots of carbs but went out to eat and had a heaping bowl of pasta - enough for a couple of meals and surprisingly so far I haven't seen a huge jump as a result....in fact, the days following were two of my lower weight days. Go figure.

Keep making the healthy choices, Marsha. You're right … hang in there and the weight will come down.

And, remember that medication and inflammation could also be contributing factors.

very disappointing weigh in today: 135.8
It was a 5am weigh-in.

Last 10 days I've eaten smart, between 1150-1350 calories. I wasn't even over on sodium the last 3 days. I've just got to hang in there and this weight will come down.

I am using the Hacker's Diet Online ("How to lose weight and hair through stress and poor nutrition," and not to be confused with the myriad other Hacker's Diet web sites) web site to calculate my trending weight. I will use the reading for the Wednesday of each week as the official weight for this challenge, regardless the day I post or how many times or what days I weigh myself during the week.

Looks like I called yesterday's weight dip, simply fluid fluctuation. More time for the body to dehydrate given that I didn't rise at the usual time. I was up later than usual. When I rise earlier than usual, it is not especially unexpected to see a higher than usual weigh in.

This morning's weigh in initially surprised me. Got 113.8 from the scale when I first stepped on it. In disbelief I stepped off of it, walked away, brushed my teeth, returned and got 114.0. Still not believing it, I sat for a bit, cleaned my glasses, returned for take 3 and got 114.0. So, 114.0 it is … why?

I suspect it likely has something to do with more time for the body to dehydrate. I rose about 2 hours later than usual this morning. Yesterday challenged me in many respects. I can tell I'm going to pay for it today. I cannot even begin to describe the depth of this fatigue.

I see the out-of-plan doctor next week. It will be interesting to hear his take on things. He has training and certifications in Internal Medicine, Infectious Disease, and Functional Medicine. He's worked for the World Health Organization and his work has taken him to South Africa. He majored in genetics at one of my alma maters and is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at a local medical school.
