Ok. I managed to hop on the scale this morning and posted before getting my day started.

A lot going on this week. Two more days and my son and his family will be here from Kentucky staying in our house until next Monday morning. They have a 4 year old so I'm working like crazy getting everything out of reach for her benefit. Or hidden where she won't see it, more like.
Then our daughter's wedding is Saturday afternoon. Friday will be the rehearsal. As of right now, I'm not sure there will be a rehearsal dinner afterwards. Mainly as the venue is WAY OUT in the middle of Nowhere. Time will tell. At least the venue is free.
Will still need to run out there to help set up before the rehearsal. Since it's 90 minutes one way out from our house, I think I'll stay out there for the day. Hope and pray the weather is good. I feel tired already just thinking of all the fun walking we'll be doing.

Saturday won't be much different except for taking our wedding garments out with us. Making sure every last minute item is in place. Again, hoping and praying the weather cooperates for this wedding. They so would like to have it outside instead of inside the barn as the view is breathtaking.
Will post pictures when I'm able and everything is back to relative normalcy.

Right now, everyone is running around like chickens trying to make sure nothing is forgotten.
Talk about being "Mother of the Bride." I sincerely wish them nothing but happiness going forward.

The past week has seen ALL scale weights above the scream weight low. emoticon

A couple more months to close out the year and another decade. I've been out of work for 10+ months and have seen very steady (for me) fluctuations in both activity (VERY sedentary) and weight. There's been a consistent teeter-tottering observed in the activity from month to month: up-down-up-down-up-down.

It's amazing to see daily step counts for the year averaging FAR LESS than a loop around our local reservoir. Kind of shocking. Wish I could say that I felt better; but, I don't. I can say that my spirits are better. Physically, the challenges continue with October being a 'rough' one.

I got off to a bad start by forgetting to log the very first weigh in. So...I'll be unofficial for the whole challenge. I'm still using the Hacker's Diet Online and still taking Wednesday's reading.

I also managed to miss posting before 10/1. Oh well. I'm out anyway.

I am just not very into this this time around. I'm glad it's almost over. Next time...next time....

****

I am using the Hacker's Diet Online ("How to lose weight and hair through stress and poor nutrition," and not to be confused with the myriad other Hacker's Diet web sites) web site to calculate my trending weight. I will use the reading for the Wednesday of each week as the official weight for this challenge, regardless the day I post or how many times or what days I weigh myself during the week.

Target weight: 126 (range: 122.22-129.78)

Week 1 : Wed 09/04/2019 - 125.5
Week 2 : Wed 09/11/2019 - 125.5

Gloria, You sound like me. Not sure I'd have purchased the pressure cooker myself. It was gifted to us. I really do love beans; but, a necessity? No. I do know that Eden sells organic, pressure cooked beans in a can and that's how we've used them at home. Otherwise, beans have been eaten out which is a far dicer proposition. We rarely eat out any more; although, in recent weeks we've eaten out far more than usual!

Interesting about the beans! I too have been off beans for quite some time and wouldn't mind trying to reintroduce them into my diet. I agree with the soaking - when my mother made her famous baked beans, she soaked, then made the soup slowly, then baked the beans. It was not something that could be done quickly. I've considered a pressure cooker but not sure I will go that route. I don't want to introduce new kitchen gadgets into the house unless I am certain they will be used frequently. Currently most of meals are salads, fruits and veggies along with some grilled chicken. Beans go well with salads and veggies and I love beans, but are certainly not a necessity at this point.

Trending 115.6

I've managed to pull the trend up nearly 2 lbs. and out of the scream weight lows while continuing to follow body guidance. Despite the low weight I refused to eat beyond satisfaction and the weight has naturally come back up.

Yeah! emoticon

I suspect the fact that I'm not physically active made this easier. With activity I may have felt the need to force feed and push intake beyond satisfaction. And, I hate that feeling!! I know hate is a strong word. That overfed feeling is accompanied by very strong negative feelings. The word hate works to describe that experience for myself.

Looking at the scale weight the past 12 weeks, I see an average of 114.9 lbs. which is below the scream weight low. Appetite seems to be better with gut tolerance, perhaps, improving following years of focused attention. It will be interesting to see how the year closes out.

Here's the YTD Weight Grapher image:

Thank you, Poindextra!

With the weight popping up 2 lbs. overnight and then, dropping 1.6 lbs. this morning, I suspect the weight pop was likely more sodium related and NOT the beans. Yeah! I was at a Mexican restaurant that I suspect cooks their beans in the traditional manner: long soaking periods!!! That's the way my mother prepared beans too. It was a multiple day process. Beans were not prepared quickly.

Here goes. They say you can pressure cook dry beans, but I soak them to get some of the gas out. Dr. G. Says to soak longer and change the water multiple times, so I've started doing that, too. I figure it can't hurt!

So, for a pound of dry beans, after soaking, my last batch used 1.24 cups of water. Pressure cooked on high for 6 minutes, let sit for 10 minutes, and then release the steam. There was still a bit of water in the bottom, so I left the pot on warm with the lid off to evaporate most of it. Next time I'll use only 1 cup of water. My 2 successful batches were with small white beans and small red beans.

Jeanne, did you ever get a pressure cooker? I have finally figured out the right proportions so the pressure-cooked beans don't turn to mush. Let me know if you want instructions. But you probably wouldn't be cooking a pound at a time unless your husband eats them:).

Tested a food (pinto beans) yesterday and the weight blip may be associated with it. I'm not sure though. There is some joint pain evident as well; but, it's subtle compared to the 2 lb. blip up.

Dear Jeanne, I still can't access the google form, could you please save this for me?
My weight graph for the last 4 months looks like sinusoid waves - nice, I just wish fluctuation was around my center weight (orange)... but I keep this center weight for the next challenge.

Kriszta

Goal weight:
58 +- 1 kg /// 128 +-2 pounds
CET (Europe, Hungary)

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings

NOTE: Even though you may be dropped from the "official" challenge, you will still be able to log your weight. If you would like to remain as an “unofficial” challenger and continue to have your statistics calculated, please SparkMail JEANKNEE with the weight and date of the missed weigh-in. Otherwise, feel free to keep us posted on the forum thread, and join us in the next one!

Definitely experiencing some cognitive challenges ... darn it!

Anyway, looks like I didn't post yesterday and neglected to send out the Monday reminder. As WATERMELLEN would say: Oh well oh well oh well

So, for both yesterday and today: 115.2 actual & 115.4 trending

Another week with all scale weights above the scream weight low except one with this morning's weigh in of 116.6 being the high for the past 12 weeks (quarter). October has seen the 5th successive month with scale weights that have dipped below the scream weight low.

The real surprise has been two successive months with the monthly mean of the scale weights also below the scream weight low. With 4 more days remaining in October, it looks like October's monthly mean may also fall below the scream weight low which would make it three successive months with the monthly mean also residing in scream weight territory. With the weight being where it's been the past couple of weeks, it may be enough to pull that October mean up and over the scream weight low. We shall see.

Continuing to allow the body to guide nutritional intake and not worrying about the low scale weights. If my doctors have no concern, I see no need for concern and definitely no need to force myself to eat when not hungry.

Well, I'm not surprised. 3 slices of French Toast and Ham for lunch, and a yummy but salty restaurant dinner: chicken and artichoke sauteed with lots of veggies. My low activity levels this week have also contributed, I'm sure.

Just had 2/3 of my usual healthy breakfast. Will have lunch with Dad before leaving him at the Auto Train. Back on track!

Not surprising after dinner at Carrabbas last night. I indulged in the Calamari, and also had salty minestrone soup and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus. Today will be another indulgent day.

On the mend, except for the cough which kept waking me up last night. I'm at the doc now, and will ask for codeine syrup. It's the only thing that helps nighttime coughing for me. They'll see my last bottle lasted 2 years, so shouldn't think I'm seeking opiates.
