Jeanette,

Congratulations on the x-country skiing! emoticon

Don't know how to respond regarding the +/- 5 lbs. every 3 weeks. My body did that the entire time I had menstrual cycles and that did not stop until I went into menopause. Still have my uterus though. So ... ???

Hormonal cycles are incredibly powerful! A little well-timed good quality dark chocolate used to support me, plenty of water, dark leafy greens, adequate sleep, healthy fats, watch the sugar/carb/alcohol/caffeine intake, peppers can be an issue for some folks.

You may find with some focused attention that there are certain foods that exacerbate the situation for you.

I'm hoping others will chime in, especially someone that's experienced a hysterectomy; but, still has ovaries.

Update!! I can now cross country ski!! YAY Too bad it's -30 C here for the next week ugh lmao Lovely to be Canadian EH? :oP

Is there anyone on here who has had a hysterectomy but still has ovaries and so hormones? Weird but I'm having trouble with my cycle. I go through the extra hungry, depressed PMS phase but not having the rebuilding of the uterus to burn calories I'm having trouble not gaining and losing like 5 pounds every 3 weeks. I'm not sure how to navigate the extra hunger and emotional eating to not gain weight.

I maintained until 4 years ago. Weight crept back on and I was 130lbs (goal 118-125). Then I had issues with fibroids and my cycle. Got put on a med to stop cycle then another med to shrink fibroids for my hysterectomy. These meds caused depression and so emotional eating and also after a few weeks of both meds together very heavy bleeding. I ended up in the ER needing two blood transfusions and at one point I passed out creating a grade 2 tear of my ACL (ligament inside of knee). OK so now I'm 155 lbs and can't walk without a cane and a brace, and recovering from my hysterectomy. Dr actually told me he'd get me fitted for a permanent brace and this is my life now. Um ok What??!! I'm a freaking runner.
I refused to lie down and be disabled. I searched the internet and found physio to be of help so I spent 4 months doing that (paying for 1/3 of the $2000 cuz benefits only go so far) to heal my knee and the plantar fascitis I developed in my that foot because of limping. I got a custom made orthotic and now 2.5 yrs later my knee is healed completely and my foot is only preventing me from cross country skiing (hoping this year).
I lost 20 pound but then stayed around 135 for a year and then gained back and ended up at 149. Then a co-worker called me fat to my face. I was finally in the head space to actually do something and succeed. I started meditating, the Super Charged Hormone diet, walking 1 hour a day and the Metabolic Renewal workouts. Reducing my stress level drastically and focusing on my hormones was the game changer. I've lost 20 pounds since July and have 4 to go so I can maintain 120-125. It's been a long road but I'm so happy to have navigated it and get myself to this point!!!
