I have belonged to several challenges. I joined this team when I was 5 lbs higher than my goal weight, a few years ago. Then I had a series of health issues. I was able to exercise more and differently before the issues and I truly believe i can at least get to where my weight was when I joined. I didn't own a scale before I joined this team! I went by how my clothes fit and the doctor's scale, and the weight just came off slowly but surely. I think a scale is a good thing (despite the fact that all the floors in my apartment slant!) but what lost my weight before was exercising harder and more often. I have bought more exercise clothes and will be buying newer shoes to help the "more". Longer periods of exercise seem to be where I am heading, rather than increasing intensity. I was eating differently too. Right now food is difficult to come by--at least healthy food. I have decided that these challenges do NOT help me and I am going to go back to not worrying and less frustration. I am still going to weigh myself ONCE a month. That was my weight strategy prior also, when i actually lost weight, instead of bouncing back and forth between 4 lbs and not truly losing. I now this challenge works for some people, but not for me. I am not leaving the team, just changing my strategy. And I know the challenges do work for some, so don't leave on my account!

Just thought of something ... need to fill the prescription written, even though it is not yet needed because the situation with the meat packing plants will likely impact availability of that thyroid medication. Yeah. Gotta get on that one!

There have been shortages before and my doctors were absolutely panicking because they had nothing to help me.

Managed to run down a doctor for assistance with the thyroid. Still in need of a doctor's assistance for additional things. Spent a significant amount of time both Monday and Thursday on the telephone to address these issues and have been physically decked by the mental exertion.

Activity (which is already EXTREMELY sedentary) dropped over 40% in the past couple of days. I'm feeling pretty spent.

Medication for the thyroid has been increased. Additional lab requests placed. So, in 8 weeks it is back to the lab for another recheck and so it goes.

As I've shared previously, it took essentially 2 years to right the ship when the thyroid condition was initially diagnosed and the values are significantly worse than they were when the condition was initially diagnosed over 23+ years ago.

Also, the improvement over the past 3 months has been insignificant. So, it isn't realistic to expect significant improvement over the next 8 weeks. These medications are extremely powerful and dosage tweaks are small. My body is also extremely reactive. They were oh so close to hospitalizing me when they first began medicating me for the condition decades ago. Despite starting me on what was considered the absolute lowest dose, it sent my cardiac system into significant distress. And, the initial drug eventually had to be abandoned because it did not work. What works for me is desiccated pork thyroid. It's natural. The synthetics do absolutely nothing for me!

Wow, I've been worried about how I have been eating and thinking my weight is going to go up but here I am, very close to center on both my actual and trend! I am not doing enough strength training but have been running or walking consistently every day. That seems to be compensating for what I feel is not good (for me) eating. I will keep my center the same for the next challenge.

Did get myself into the medical clinic for the needed lab draw. Results not good (as expected given my physical experience). Thyroid function remains seriously out-of-whack and values are significantly out of range with no significant improvement since the late January test.

Still awaiting a response. My PCP has retired and I'm concerned my test results have fallen into a black hole. Tomorrow will be a week. Typically, I get a response in 24 - 48 hours or less.

Today's actual 119.7. I came in just under calorie budget, but did indulge in a Krispy Kreme custard donut. It was OK, but not worth 300 calories! And we took a nice hike, so I guess that balanced out.

This tracks my anxiety response to Corona virus I think - I'm wondering whether it's not just about eating more and exercising less, but also the way my body is responding - ie holding onto weight as it thinks it's an emergency - and affecting my appestat. COVID restrictions have had a good effect on my numbers. More home-cooked food and more sustained exercise are helping my digestive throughput!

My scale weight is down only 0.3 from April first, but the trend is down from about 0.6 (from about 121.2).

I started working from home on March 11. Since then, scale weight is down 1.9 pounds and trend is down about 1.5 pounds..

Hubby has also lost 10 pounds. a couple more pounds and he'll be out of Obese and into Overweight!

Maintenance is as much work as losing, but it has the advantage of allowing us to do it in cuter clothes - BESSHAILE

Maintenance Lessons Learned:
-go on with the healthy lifestyle learned in weight loss phase
-just add healthy foods gradually to stop losing
-work out every day - 30-60 minutes is enough to maintain weight and good mood
-do not try to balance overeating by extreme workouts, it is not going to work
-avoid overeating, instead of satisfaction you get stronger cravings
