Im right there with you We are headed on a cruse in Jan. I started at 248 ld and today i waited in at 245 lb Still have a ways to go but Im not giving up

I am not sure when this started. But my goal this year is to be at goal weight by December 26. It is nice to have people headed in the same direction. Good luck to you all!!

4thelifeofme - it's the 5th challenge down under "Challenges." Just click on "more topics" under Challenges or even click on the "Challenges" heading on this page or on the team page and it will open up the page with challenges. This works if you are on the computer - not sure if you are looking at things on your phone but I assume it's the same concept.

Too much eating = going up and down for the past few weeks. Ultimately stayed the same. Didn't make my goal for this challenge. 13 pounds down total since the beginning and I wanted to make 15. I'm looking forward to the next one - hopefully will be better.

Our leader was such a dynamo. She is missed. I definitely want to continue. Need to record my final weight. I have 6 special dinners in December. I'm not beating myself up over gaining.

I finally went back down, now to keep it there. I know we're having lots of food for Christmas. I'm hoping I will do better this year then I did last year and chose only the good foods and those in moderation. I have all my Christmas quilts finished to give to the family. I'm hoping the love them as much as I loved making them.

SPIEGY-- I will be eating Chinese food for Christmas dinner and the we al go to a movie also.
All three of my girls and boyfriends will be here for Christmas and looking forward to many good times, visiting and just enjoying each other.

LIndaLou, that sounds horrible! I hope that the medication side effects calm down soon. That has to be so frustrating!

Big holiday weekend coming up - I hope that everyone has a wonderful Christmas, if you celebrate it, and a great long weekend if you don't! Personally, I will be going to the movies, eating out (yikes- yet again!) and then doing Thanksgiving 2.0 for the family since we bought a very inexpensive turkey when they were on sale for Thanksgiving and decided that having a second Thanksgiving would be twice as nice!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I haven't been participating. My doctor changed my diabetes meds and it has been an awful experience. Gave me Metformin, made me sick - couldn't take it. He then prescribed Actos, that has been a terrible experience. It caused me to gain weight and retain fluid, which is some of the side affects. He has taken me off that, I'm back to my original meds, Januvia and Glipizide. I'm still carrying the weight I gained and trying very hard to lose it again. This is very frustrating. Doctor wants me to lose weight and then gives me meds that cause weight gain. ERGH!!!!!!!!!! My feet are swelling also and that drives me crazy as I never have had my feet swell before.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy healthy New Year..

Overall not a good challenge for me this time around. Too many things going on, not enough time to think everything through like I should, the food goes in and the weight goes on.
Yes, holidays don't help, but it really is up to me to do what I should and not say, "Oh, this one time is okay, and I'll do better tomorrow."

Didn't do as good this week. I went up instead of down. I've been trying to watch what I eat and how much, but some days it's hard to not eat the wrong things, especially during holidays. I'll just keep trying and watching what I eat.

YES, Spiegy. We have the same stats. Also the same goal. I want to lose a few more pounds by the end of the year so I can be in the 170's. It will be a challenge getting through the holiday but I really want to do this. I have been trying to walk more during the day and doing my best to resist the cookies. Everywhere I go they have cookies!! Good Luck.

Staff party yesterday, met with a 2nd Cuz from out of state for dinner out tonight, Classroom parties tomorrow...and on it goes. Trying but not doing well but not giving up and really looking forward to the new challenge. I can and I will do this. I did not hit my goal so I will reset it and try again. I hope we really work together and encourage each other and share ideas of what is working for us and that all of us find what works for us and that we will all see a loss the next challenge.
SPIEGY-- Thanks and yes you are right I will do it .but just slower then what I had planned. Time to set new goals. Also time to get healthier

My mini-goal is to make it into the 170's by Dec. 31 and I think I'm going to get there. The next 2 weeks will be difficult but I'm going to try not to go too crazy. I want to lose weight these next two weeks, not maintain. We're getting together with my sister's family for Chanukah this weekend, so there will be latkes and doughnuts, but I'm going to try to stick to 2 latkes and 1 doughnut and plan my calories for the day around that. Wish me luck! It's so much easier for me not to eat this stuff at all then to try to eat just ONE homemade doughnut.

Anyway, everyone on this team is ahead of the game because everyone else is waiting for New Year's to make their commitments, and we've already committed! Even if these next couple of weeks are tough, we know that it's just a blip, right?

Della - you can do this! Lots of support here! emoticon emoticon Don't let the pounds creep. Mine crept back up 70 pounds last time I wasn't looking and it wasn't worth it!

I know those escape rooms are all over the place, but I've never done one - I think I'm afraid that I won't be able to do it - I'm terrible at puzzles and games. That's great that you overcame your reluctance and had fun!

emoticon I finally lost some. Now I just have to keep losing and not gain. I've been trying to watch what I eat, even at church potlucks. I did pretty good tonight with the food there. Small amounts of 3 or 4 items and lots of water to drink.

Weight has been creeping up. I have a list of excuses as to why but, as I look at them they are JUST EXCUSES! I need to get back on track and throw out the excuses and look at the positives. That is my goal for this week--NO EXCUSES--ONLY POSITIVIES!

Last night was my middle daughters 31st birthday. All three of my girls were here, one boyfriend, one like a son friend, my nephew, niece and great niece were here. We went to a portal escape room and oh my what fun! I was not going to do it but they talked me into it and so happy that they did! We got through all three rooms with 2 min. to spare! We really had to work together to solve all the clues. May have to try a different one soon.

Feeling better, my shoulder still hurts at times but I don't have to use the sling any more. The Dr. told me not to use it as my shoulder might freeze up from not using it and that I would not get that movement back so it's grin and bare it lol

Thanks! I hope everyone is having a great weekend! We have snow here in northern NJ - it's looking very pretty but hopefully there won't be too much to shovel tomorrow. We have a little snowblower but it's not the greatest... I have some chicken curry cooking in the oven and we're in for the day. Looking forward to a big bowl of chicken goodness then a good snuggle under the blanket on the couch. Aaaaahhh, winter weekends!

Hi Chris, That happens to me also. I get stuck and stay the same weight for weeks. It really gets me down, too. I have a little trick for that - when that happens I change up my food selections and use less salt. Like I will have tuna or egg salad instead of my usual sliced turkey or what ever. I tend to eat the same foods everyday so switching that does something and that usually gets me losing again. Hang in there. The scale will move.

Thanks Spiegy for the kind words on my last post. You asked how I am able to keep the steady loss, well....... sheer determination! I keep the calories under 1600(most of the time ;), I exercise 5 days a week, 3 of those days include good sweaty cardio, I don't eat the calories that I burn through exercise, and i drink lots of water. Good luck and I hope everyone loses pounds and gain joy and happiness of the season!

Hi Della, Sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving day with your family. Mine went well also. Dinner with my family at my son's house. I also did not take seconds. I promised myself before I even got there I would not over eat. But my daughter-in-law made a special dessert recipe handed down from her late grandmother. Can't remember the name of it but it was like a creme brulee she even torched the top. THAT I did eat. Yum. At home I am still watching closely to how much I eat. I think that is my biggest problem. Portion control. Congrats on that weight loss! Okay. I'll be weighing in here on Tuesday. Take care.

I sure miss the daily chats on this challenge.. We use to chat, share ideas, encourage each other and it was a lot more fun than just weighing in. Maybe everyone is to busy. I hope after the first of the year we will get back to how it was.

Airyausty - you are KILLING this challenge! So inspiring! Can I ask what you are doing to keep those pounds dropping so steadily?

I'm now in my 3rd week of staying the same but I'm not on a plateau because I've been eating A LOT for the past couple of weeks, with my son home from college for Thanksgiving, lots of eating out, lots of eating in emoticon emoticon etc. etc. My weight has actually been going up and down continuously, but I've been managing to get it in hand for the few days before my weigh-in, so my official weight has stayed the same. Whew! But now it's back to basic eating. The plan is for next week to be a pound down. C'mon, 183!!

Yesterday at parents with most on that side of the family and I put too much emphasis on things I shouldn’t even worry or care about. I have such a hard time with that. On Thanksgiving I didn't have seconds but I did have pie. Also my oldest daughter was in town so Fri. and Sat we ate out. Tried to make ok choices but as my weight showed I really gained. I know water is part of it as my feet are really bigger. I just made turkey noodle soup as my daughter gave me the bones so I will be eating that this week and I hope those feet get back to normal and so does my weight. Weigh in is Tue so hope I will be back down and maybe even a loss!

I actually didn't gain even with all the goodies we had laying out on the table. I didn't lose either, but that's better then gaining. I'll just keep working on it. Need to work on getting tummy smaller if possible

Hi Everyone! Just got back from a 6 day trip and for the most part, stayed on plan resulting in being down a pound. I'm learning that holidays, parties, birthdays, weddings, trips, etc... doesn't mean dread, deprivation or over indulgences but rather, to enjoy all that it entails but always with my health and goals in mind. Happy Thanksgiving to all the US members of the team! I know I am looking forward to some Thanksgiving goodies and have been dreaming of some stuffing and pie (not together) for the past couple of weeks! I'm not planning on going too crazy because my stomach can't take overloading, so my plan is to stick to the foods that I really like and not bother adding in calories from the stuff I just don't care about...

I stayed the same this week which is fine since my son is home from college for the week and we've been eating out more, so I'm pretty happy I didn't add on any weight! Hope everyone has a great holiday and a super week!

Was gone all last week at a conference (no scale) and came back to be thoroughly disheartened when I saw a weight I haven't seen in years! Yep, that bad. I'm slowly getting back in the right direction with the numbers falling.
Hope the rest of us are doing much better than I've been doing emoticon There's still time in this challenge for me to do well, so I need to concentrate on that.

I didn't lose, but I didn't gain either. Been a long weekend. I'll keep trying. Hopefully part of the not losing is muscle gain after this weekend

Missed my weigh in today. Maybe get it done tomorrow. Had to rush to the Food Bank I take care of and get set up for the Scouting For Food with the boy scouts. Long day and wonderful time. Got lots of steps in.
