Done with the challenge. I did lose some weight but it seemed to slow down when I started going to a gym and the holiday snacks and cookies started flowing. All good though, all part of the process.

Hi MIKE your doing great. That is true about the exercise. You start losing weight but gain muscle which is heavier. So we really should be measuring by how our clothes fit.

I too am dealing with water retention from an inflamed/swollen knee problem. Doctor told me yesterday that the MRI showed its just a sore muscle not a torn meniscus. Thank goodness. So hoping when the swelling goes down the weight loss will show.

Again .....forgot to update on the 20th.

So I have been in the gym 3 times a week and once a week meeting with a trainer. End result if my weight loss is slowing. I googled that problem and found there is something called exercise induced weight gain. It is common when starting a weight training program for your body to react to sore muscles by creating inflammation and snf flooding the sore area with water to wash away any toxins. Supposedly in a few weeks this stops but we will see.

MIKE - You are doing fantastic! Yes, Mexican foods can be a challenge. When I eat at a Mexican restaurant (rarely) I order a Taco salad that comes in a tortilla bowl. But I leave the bowl. It depends on what food plan you are following. I follow KETO so its all about LOW carbs for me/ no bread or rice.

I wasn't going to post this week because I am so embarrassed and frustrated. But I decided I have to own up to my increase in weight and spend some time trying to figure out what is going on with me. On a positive note I have started going back to the gym this week ..... we'll have to wait and see how that helps. In the meantime, thank you for this challenge. It makes me accountable for the ups and downs of my weight loss journey. Now I just need more downs. Have a great and successful week ahead.
