Ah that sounds delicious. I have really embraced the idea of saying i'll cook, or i'll bring the food. Kills 2 birds with one stone: I get to bring what I can eat, and everyone thinks I'm an amazing thoughful generous friend (which I am, obviously haha)

Ohhh - that was such a sweet thing to do for your grandparents! I'm sure they love you so much. And it sounds like things you could really eat, too. What a great idea.

My extremely fit and healthy grandpa turned 91 today!

I was happy about that, but worried about the meal. We're Italian, so it might be something with a heavy sauce, Italian bread, etc.

Since my grandma can't go out anymore (strokes), I offered to bring dinner tonight. They eat backwards - they have their big meal at lunch. So for dinner, I put together a big platter full of cold cuts - pepperoni, salami, ham, provolone, american cheese, roast beef and garnishes. I rolled each piece of meat and made it look really beautiful around a big bed of lettuce, tomato and onion.

I made a big antipasto platter overflowing with gardiniera, olives, roasted red peppers, and little wedges of cheese.

I bought assorted breads, and put a low carb wrap for myself in the bag.

It was so good. I didn't have to explain the low carb thing to anyone, and it was stuff we all like.

I did eat a half slice of Boston cream pie, which is not low carb, but it's only my third cheat in almost 4 weeks, and it was for a good cause :)
