A lot of the people on my Team keep talking about or are on the Paleo diet. But the big thing all the coaches and everyone keep pushing is we are training not dieting. And keep saying this is NOT the time to loose weight. But at 205 lbs I don't want to run 13.1 mile...heck I don't even want to run 4 miles this heavy. So I'm stuck I don't know what to do. I'm following my meal plans and tracking calories but we'll see how it works.

The most important thing to consider is to not go crazy with eating. Tracking is the key that helped me to lose about 20 pounds during training. I think some runners get into the mindset that they can eat whatever they want, which isn't the case for most people. You also have to plan your nutrition - you need to eat quality food before and after your runs, as well as eat enough during your long runs, but you can do that without going overboard on your calories as long as you make good choices. I ate about 1500 calories a day, PLUS another 50 for every mile I ran on any particular day. Some weeks were easier than others, but if you are paying attention, you will get a feel for what works for your body. It's a little tricky to balance the weight loss with performance, but it can be done.

Congratulations on signing up and good luck!! :)

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to get down to a healthy weight while also maintaining the nutritional intake to support the increased mileage for marathon training. I would like to keep working on weight loss without sabotaging the training piece!
