I pulled a muscle and had to take a couple of days off. Can we do this again?

So this is for Sunday.

Sunday I did 22 sets. It was shoulders and that is a big day for me. I do six exercises on that day. Some are repeats so when I change my routine, i'll be reducing.

I did:
shrugs
Shoulder press on hammer strength
cable row
later raises on machine
face down flys with dumbbells
front raises with barbell.

i'm not adding up the pounds cause it too much trouble.

It's a good day here and my work out was good, and I feel it.

I did 13 sets
with 5990 or something like it. i'm bad at math, and I didn't have a calculator.

And i've lost my house keys and it is after 1am, and I don't know how i'm getting in the house.

but at least I got buff.

I've been having good workouts for a while so a bad one was about to happen. and that was tonight. it wasn't horrible, just not as much energy as I like.

but I did assisted pull ups. and I know my body weight is 261, which means when I put the weight on 100, I lifted 161, but my rules state: lifting our bodies is 100. I feel cheated by my own rules.

uhhhh!

So I had an OK workout, but a bit disappointed.

I forgot my book at home and I had to do my work out from memory, so I didn't so everything and not the same about of weight. there is a reason why I have that book and its so I don't have to remember what I did last week.

I did back and my lifted total is: 5690.

My exercises were:
dead lift
one arm seated row with twist
assisted pull ups
High Row.

and there were two exercises I forgot. blimey!

Squats and lunges have always been my least favorite; they kill me. And as I get more fit and lose weight my blood pressure medication tends to make me orthostatic, so I get dizzy doing those.

Dude I'm psyched! Thanks for inspiring me.

Yeah that Website is really great. I like the diagrams of the muscles and the matching exercises.

I recently changed my routines. My leg work out has always been challenging. I have naturally big legs and didn't think I needed to work them, then I learned that if you want your upper body to get big you've got to work you lower body too. So I started it somewhat. Then coming on Spark People in September caused me to think about calorie burning. So I decided I would focus more attention on my legs to burn more cals.

But I was always doing the same three exercises for the legs. That web site helped me see some new things. So I changed it, now for legs I do five exercises.

What is surprising is the one I do for my hamstrings I think is easy but I feel it and I feel the results.

and lunges! ohmygawd! that kills my legs every time!

Counting for the tracker is easy. But, it's a bit more complicated for every thing else.

I've decided to break it down in the following way:

Day 1) Neck,Shoulders,Upper Arms and Forearms
Day 2) Back, Chest, and Waist
Day 3) Hips, Thighs and Calves

I use cable, weights (including my own body weight)and do yoga stretching.

I think the website you referenced is going to be essential for figuring out what exercises affect which body part. Thanks, a lot of work but I will also learn a lot.

Hey Guys,
here is a link that I use to create my work out routines. I look at the list of muscles I want to work and then find exercises to go with them. is a great site and easy to use. Also they have demo videos with most of the exercises. And they do all kinds, with lever, cables, barbell and dumbbell.

This sounds intriguing. Right now, I do absolutely no strength training, so my numbers are going to be puny.

This is a Five Day challenge over seven days, and will be tracked in two ways. the goal tracker, and postings in this thread.

Ok Gay Men! Here’s the deal. We've done a lot of cardio but now its time for a strength challenge. There are five parts to the body that we lift: Shoulders, Legs, Back, Chest, arms (arms are sometimes divided into two bis and tris). We are going to do strength exercises on each of them.
Five body parts five days.

We are going to see who can do what, and for how many sets, and how much pounds (the pounds is optional)!

Here are the rules:
--you lift weights or your body (push ups, for example.)
--each body part is counted on one day. So if you do chest on day one and repeat it on day two, it will not count on day two.)
--When you work out a body part, do several exercises. Each different exercise counts. Therefore if you do Chest Flys, and Flat bench on the same day, they count separately and both count (but chest will only count on one day.)
--you are only counting sets on the tracker
--weight is number of reps times the weight. So if you do one set of 10 reps of 23 lbs, that equals 230 lbs. total for that set.
--lifting your body counts as 100 lbs. so if you do 5 push-ups. That is 500 lbs.

How about an example:
Bear does this for a work out on chest:
3 sets of 10 reps Dumbbell flys at 25,30,35 lbs
3 sets of 4,9,3 of flat bench 25,10,20 lbs
2 sets of 8,10 decline bench 50, 30 lbs
3 sets of 10 incline bench 45
2 sets of 10 chest dips 25, 30

On the tracker Bear will count 13 sets on the tracker. That’s easy.

This one not so much. Bear will have to multiply the number of reps times the weight, and all it all together to get his total weight for the day. So for incline, its 3 sets of 10 at 45 = 450+450+450 = 1350 for that exercise. Then add all of them together.

Dumbbell flys = 250+300+350 = 900
Flat bench = 100+90+40 = 230
Decline = 400+300 = 700
Incline = 450+450+450 = 1350
Chest dips = 250+300 = 550
Total =900+230+700+1350+550 = 3730

Then we will add every day together.
Good luck with this one. Remember the sets are what count and the weight is optional. But please post what you did, and share ideas for exersizes.

Thanks
