I have been out of the USA seven times in my life: four times into Canada (Banff in the summer, Young Life camp, Victoria and Vancouver), once into Nogales Mexico on my honeymoon, South Korea for the Military, and NE Pacific Ocean on a factory ship (Sea of Japan then back to Dutch Harbor).

Person Above Me is dedicated to loving those who are weak and despised in the eyes of the world.

I'm not even near perfect, but I know someone who is.

We did not. We live in a rural area where the youngest child is 17 now. We did spend some time with our youngest grandchildren they are 10 and 12 (Doesn't time fly!)

PAM goes to a small group meeting almost every week.

Yes/no....the sun came out today at last, but I tweaked my back moving alfalfa for the sheep a few days ago. However, I did go out before church and change the sheep water and pulled the stakes on their feeding hut. It is an old tent style greenhouse. I plan to move it to a drier area of the yard this afternoon. What I won't be doing is digging up the huge decorative grass and moving it.

PAM will hide Easter eggs for the kids/grandkids/neighbor kids/Church kids.....

Yep. The leg of lamb is in the freezer; I will smoke it next weekend, then we will enjoy it with our daughter and her kids.

Oh, yeah, Peggy is really grooming me for the Lay Leader position. She laughed when I told her about that intimidating first page of the Guide, patted me on the arm, and said not to worry.

As I mentioned in the Daily Check-in (I think), I've been Firmly Invited to go to a workshop in March.

Hubby's not so sure I'm the best church role model. He has a point.

Last month, twice in a row, I got fortune cookies saying good things would be happening this month. Maybe this is the month I'll get a job...

PAM is planning/allowing for a splurge on Fat Tuesday.

Active, yes. Fun, eh.... I had to work Saturday, so I wa on my feet and walking for a good deal of the day. This weekend, we will be in a local church leaders workshop for most of the day on Saturday, and may make a trip to OKC to do Sam's Warehouse and the bookstores.

I'm sure the Super Bowl will be on, but I'll be ignoring it, except maybe for a good commercial. Forget special party foods. It's just a non-event around here.

What my husband really loves is the college women's basketball playoffs. I call it his soaps. My dad, who was a coach and referee, says if you want to see basketball played the way it was meant to be played, watch the girls.

I am sure that Jared will become something of a good friend through the confirmation process. He does hear, with hearing aids, and I am not sure how much signing he does. I will start learning a few signs anyway.... We have a family in the church wherein the mother is the child of two deaf parents. (She has normal hearing) learned to sign to communicate with them, and now the whole family signs. I will see if Linda will tutor me a bit....

PAM will watch the Super Bowl this weekend.

Yes...My dear friend and former neighbor in Portland is legally blind. She was such a great help and support for me when I returned to college. She taught middle schoolers. Talk about brave...

My granddaughter also copes with autism, although I don't think she has it quite figured out yet. She is also one of my best friends. She is the beautiful Princess Leia on my Spark Page.

Now that I think about this, both of them had categorical eligibilities and probably do not really fit the "developmentally disabled" definition.

Through work I have had many DD friends. A few who were friends outside of work. After I moved to the country my opportunities for outside socialization with anyone have been limited due to the number of grandchildren I have and my husbands health. Which explains why I socialize on the computer.

Rainmusic, try subbing in the Early Childhood Special Ed classrooms first to see if you like it. The classroom aides will guide and direct you. You will find your experiences with your son very helpful.

PAM has a good friend who is developmentally disabled or has some kind of disability.

P.S. Blackberries...That is what the sheep are for.

I might be able to sub. I certainly can tutor math, writing, and chemistry, but I don't really have the classroom management skills. I've applied for a tutoring job at TBCC, but they haven't interviewed yet. A faculty friend of mine says they're most likely waiting for the new budget.

We're still trying to get Daniel into Job Corps. They stuck his file in a pile (piled his file?) for a couple months, and now say they need more paperwork and maybe even a new psychosocial evaluation test, which ESD says they will do, no problem, even though Dan has graduated. But it's just more delays.

What really irritates me is that we sent Job Corps all his IEP stuff, released all his ESD records, and he graduated (full diploma) with a 3.4 GPA! They should be falling all over him, instead of trying to figure out how autistic he is (barely). They get so many dropouts and at-risk kids, why are they having a problem with this?

Soapbox. Sorry.

Sorting. I did put the piles of music on my piano back in order on the shelf. Tax time is here, which means sorting through a lot of paperwork (yikes!).

Um, PAM has a very good friend who is developmentally disabled. (If you don't, you ought to!)

P.S. Blackberries! Hell's state flower.

Yes...clip blackberries and dump run. This morning I hitched Sasha to a borrowed scooter and tried to see if she would make a sled dog. She loves pulling, but the scooter did not have the proper tires. I want to find a wagon or cart for her. That is my wish.

George, Do you know sign language? I am sure your new friend would really enjoy teaching you some simple signs. Let him mentor you on disabilities. It is very eye opening. My most socially savvy student was a child with Downs Syndrome.

Rainmusic, Have you thought about teaching as a sub? The ESD is always looking for good substitutes. If you get on the sub list in Tillamook, we will be working for the same ESD. How cool would that be?

PAM will sort something today.

I can relate to your situation. That is where I was a year ago after I gave up my pastorate. It took time and I finally found a job when I least expected.

This week though I took time off since my husband had to go to a series of meetings this week. And the time off has been good. Makes me wish I had the time I had when I was unemployed to walk several times a day. But, its nice to have the income and to feel I'm doing something.

Can't do yard work since its on 12 degrees with a wind chill of 4 degrees. But, this week when I took time off I worked at the ice on the sidewalk with the wonderful warm weather we had (40-50 degrees). Now its staying inside.

PAM is beginning to get ready for Lent. I'm working at cleaning out the cupboards, refrigerator and freezer in preparation for Lent. Love the idea of Shrove Tuesday. I just do it for a month or two. :-)

Time off? Yes, unemployed. Enjoying? At first, but not so much now.

Vacation? Hubby wants to go to Vegas to celebrate our Silver Anniversary, a sort of second honeymoon, if we can ever get our kid sent off to Job Corps. They let his app sit on the desk for three months, and now say they need more paperwork. Sigh.

Wish? Job!!!

PAM will do some yard jobs today. I think I'll go out now and sweep the deck and patio.

No winter vacation, so I'll go with the previous one, a wish. Right now its to clear debt that we have accumulated over the years.

I realized a dream when I got my second master's degree, which is in counseling in 2005. My first one is a master of divinity. I have to admit that others were encouraging me to get the counseling degree for most of my life. When I was in high school I thought about it. Then when I interviewed for a teaching job I didn't get out of college, the superintendent wanted to hire me as a school counselor instead and then have me work on the degree. I turned down his offer. When I decided to go to seminary I was actually planning on getting my counseling degree, but changed my mind and went to seminary instead. In seminary I had a professor who wanted me to go to a University at the same time and get a duel degree in counseling. And finally in 2001 I decided I had to do it after thinking about it for so many years. Getting the degree was realizing my dream. And last year when I got the job I have it was my dream job, which my previous job as a therapist had not been. I miss the pastorate and there is another piece of my dream that involves pastoral ministry and counseling, but it isn't considered possible at this time where I am.

PAM is enjoying some time off.

We actually had our 'night out' last night. (Dinner at Texas Roadhouse). This afternoon, we will babysit the grandkids as my daughter has to work, and I will do some computer modifications while there. (I will upgrade my daughter's desktop computer, and also my oldest granddaughter's machine).

Tomorrow, I will begin a new adventure -- I will be entering a mentoring relationship with a young man in our congregation. He is hearing impaired, from birth defects, and sometimes a bit of a challenge to relate to. It should be interesting....

PAM has a winter vacation planned.

Special....I need to make a dump run. I am procastinating here on the computer.

I too realized my dream of getting my degree by age 40. I also wanted to be an itinerant special ed teacher and I am that too. In fact there is so much variety to my job that it exceeded my dream. I also went on and got my masters which also exceeded my dream. I wanted to live in the country and made that dream come true. Thank you for asking that question. I have an awful lot to feel thankful for.

PAM is going to write down one wish!

I did finally graduate from college a few years ago, my fortieth birthday present to myself.

Now I'd just like to get a good job.

And I'm working on a book, my next dream/goal.

Let's see---

Tonight we're going out to dinner. My husband's boss gave us tickets to a local fundraiser, Lions Club, I think. This being Cowtown, I doubt it's black tie.

PAM has something special planned tonight or sometime this weekend.

True. I am looking forward to working on one of my hobbies.... I have done some woodcarving in the past (and even won a couple of ribbons at the county fair), and I have decided to start back at that passtime. So, I need to clean up my carving area in the garage, and figure out if it will be warm enough to carve out there. If not, then I will have to figure out how to move the operation into my hobby room, but keep the mess contained.

PAM will particpate in a charity walk or run event this year.

Hobbies. Who has time for hobbies? Actually, what falls under hobbies or interests or activities include: cooking, gardening (vegetable), walking, shopping. Being with my family is a big one right now. I'd love to get back into golf and other activities. I crochet, and do cross stitch, but my time is very limited any more. I guess another interest is spiritual disciplines which include spiritual reading (Bible and other) and prayer. So many things I like to do and so little time to do them in.

PAM is looking forward to the weekend.

Interesting to me, probably not to anyone else. I consider playing with my grandkids my best hobby. The sheep and dogs constitute my one acre hobby farm. Sometimes I knit and I love to read and watch movies. I enjoy gardening, but the sheep usually eat my efforts. I like the question and am interested in everyone else's hobby's so am doing it again for the next person.

PAM has an interesting hobby.

As one of the incorporating members of the Stillwater Community Center Foundation, I am constantly in the fund raising mode. Currently, I serve as the Treasurer of the corporation, though I did miss the monthly meeting this evening due to worrk requirements.

PAM has an interesting hobby.

Not usher, no, but I will be involved. We belong to a small group of churches, TEC (Tillamook Ecumenical Council), who share the Wednesday night services during Lent. The Episcopal church always does Ash Wednesday. We do a Labyrinth service (someone was asking about labyrinths earlier) and Maundy Thursday.

Anyhow, our choir sings for Ash Wednesday, along with any other choir members who wish to join us, and I accompany them.

PAM is hosting/helping with a church or community fundraiser.

this PAM thinks marathoning and running such races is against her religion... emoticon
and this PAM won't be serving on committees which require numbers as in money because she tends to get confused with big numbers.... BUT she always helps the youth group... one idea she had once---was the parents and other adult Sunday School classes provided the food... and the youth served for TIPS rather than for the price of a meal.... and we made more $$$ than when we priced a ticket for a meal....

PAM is planning to usher for ASH WEDNESDAY....

I will certainly try. My work schedule is such that I work some Saturdays, and that seems to be when most of those events take place in our area. Our animal shelter support event is called the 'Walk 'n Wag' -- the idea is to take your dog for a walk around Boomer Lake (one lap = 5k, or 3 miles). The lake is a public park in Stillwater OK. It is also a very popular place to walk, jog, skate, bike, etc.

PAM serves on at least one charitable activity board, foundation, etc.

I sure hope so. I want to take the dogs for a long walk. I spent the whole day with my cousin at a memorial service, graveside service and luncheon for her uncle. He was a retired dairy farmer. Over 200 people attended. He was a quiet and gentle man that was loved and respected by all. I am going to try a corn/frito dish with a million calories in it for the potluck. I got the recipe during the luncheon today.

PAM will sign up to do a walk/run/charity exercise event this year.

I plan to do the Doggie Dash again this year. I am trying to get up the nerve to sign up for a 5K.

Nah. German chocolate cake from a mix, sorry! I did make it with coffee instead of water, and added extra nuts to the frosting. Is that exotic enough?

(Sigh. Hubby is trying to convince me that if he takes a tiny piece now, it will make it easier for everyone else, since that first piece is So Hard to get out of there. How noble of him.)

PAM will get some outdoor exercise this weekend.

True - But then you all know that, as I talk about it all the time. I have 3rd through high school. My oldest student is only 13 though. Still it is a bit of a stretch to keep the lessons interesting for the teens and simple enough for the pre-teens.

Absolutely....We had our Children's Christmas program this morning. The children performed in a bell choir. It was incrdible, touching and funny. I am so glad I got to see it. It has been a month of bad weather and the first time I have been able to get back to church. I feel so much better.

I am acutally answering this during the weekend, but it is very true. This is the first Saturday I have had off since the middle of November! We took advantage of the unstructured day and went to Oklahoma City to browse a couple of bookstores (one used and one Barnes & Noble) and to do our monthly (more or less) run to Sam's Club. It was nice to not have to work, and tomorrow it will be nice to relax and read some of the 5 books that found their way home with me....

Have a blessed Sunday!

Love my garden. I grow vegetables. My garden is pretty chaotic, but I love to watch things grow and I sometimes get carried away. I'm not very good with flowers or landscaping because you have to know what you are doing and I don't really know what I'm doing. I just like to do it. I really need someone to teach me. My husband with the agriculture degree just puts up with me.

PAM is looking forward to the weekend.

As a matter of fact, we are going to start tearing out carpet this weekend with the aim of having 'hard' floors in by the end of the summer. We will put wood laminate in most of the house with floor tile in the utility, sewing and bathrooms.

Hmm....I have replaced flooring three times now. I make a pattern like a dress pattern from paper, then lay it out on the linoleum. It is a lot easier than measuring and works quite well. I plan to put in a tile backsplash in my kitchen this year.

I am interested in other peoples DIY projects. Good Question Roz, I am going to repeat it.

Cathy forgot a PAM statement! So, I will just react to the previous two.

We just had our District Conference meeting last month, so it will be a while before we do that again. We do have a local church leaders workshop coming up. This is something that the Oklahoma Conference started a few years ago. A workshop is held in each district once per year, usually in the first third of the year. The workshop sessions are quite varied. There will be sessions for Lay Leaders, Trustees, Treasurers, etc. as well as topic oriented sessions dealing with "Fruitful Congregations, Youth Ministries, Evangelism, Older Adult Ministries, and so on. In all, there are about 25 different topics that will be discussed in small groups spread over three sessions during the day.

As to reading, I do a lot! Right now, I read about 6 magazines two weekly and four monthly. In addition to the Bible, I usually have two books in progress at any given time. Right now that includes a book on landscape painting, and one on railroad history. Plus I seek out interesting reading on the internet when I have the chance.

PAM will travel someplace new in the next six months.

No..Our District conference is in June. However, as I had another snow day today and my son loaned me his car to go car shopping, I now can drive to district conference in a Chevy Trailblazer 4WD which should guarantee good weather from now on.

Yes...I am an avid reader, which probably contributes to my weight difficulties. I have read about five books and watched over ten movies since the bad weather started. I read everything. Right now I am reading three spiritual books and one sci fi.

TRUE---Although not as much as I used to when I was younger but I'm seriously thinking of reading much more this year.
The bible is my favourite book right now.I've decided to read a psalm to correspond with the date of the month so on Jan 6 the reading will be Ps.6
This is in addition to my usual devotions.

I have done crossword puzzles for as long as I can remember, and I recently have started doing Sudoku. This latter came on a CD with a new printer, and it is becoming rather addictive.... I also have a hand-held Freecell game that gets a lot of use. When I was in college, I did jigsaw puzzles a lot, but that activity has faded through the years.

No caves. I have visited caves and get very claustrophobic in them. So, no caves for me. But, yes to hiking. Want to do more.

I enjoy working with teens. I work with teens in my practice and enjoy them a lot. They can be very challenging and I do like the challenge. I'm enjoying the ages my kids are. Again very challenging. And in the church I like to stay connected with the teens. Also, I think its a group that can be forgotten in a small church.

Yes and no. I would never teach anyone taller than me. I just don't have the skill or knowledge needed. I suppose I could learn. The early teens seem to go through a testing stage like two year olds in bigger bodies. But, the teens I have in Sunday School and the ones that volunteered for VBS are a lot of fun. They are intelligent and funny. We can talk about some pretty deep things. Same thing with my own children when they passed through this age. They were willing to try anything I wanted to do. My son and I hiked all of the Ape Caves at Mount St. Helens when he was in his early teens. It took us three attempts before we were properly outfitted and then it took us three hours of climbing and crawling. It was one of my highlights. So I guess the answer is YES.

Speaking of caves....PAM enjoys hiking in caves.

Yes, I do. In many ways our family has a lifestyle of volunteering. We spend a lot of time professionally trying to get people to volunteer in the church, so we volunteer in ways we can. My husband and I help run a youth center in our town that is outfitted with game systems.

One of the things I enjoy is helping with my children's Sunday school class. I love working with teens and so I enjoy that class a lot. I also see a great need for a teen class. So many of the kids think they have graduated from Sunday school after 6th grade.

There are others, but I won't bore you here.

PAM enjoys working with youth (teens).

A full day? False.

Set times and places? True. At least for prayer. There are several of us that meet on Thursday morning at 0630 for an hour of prayer before getting on about the day. I also try to spend at least a few minutes every morning and evening. I also try to spend 15 to 30 minutes reading in my Bible every evening. I am currently working my way through the Psalms.

Not on purpose, but I was walking up and down the driveway for at least 60 minutes of a two hour time period shoveling snow and ice this morning, so I could get hubby's prescription filled. I fianlly gave up and called my son to come get me. This weather started about December 15th. I am so ready to move to town.

If I can get out I will walk in cold dry weather in the 20's. When it is raining I prefer it to be at least in the 40's. I seem to get chilled so much faster in the rain. However the dogs make me take them out about 6 times a day for at least five minutes mo matter what the weather.

I am going to be a greeter in March. That is something new for me at Church.

PAM is going to replace some furniture this year.

Do try out the Lay leader position. That is sometimes a hard position for the pastor to fill so to have someone who sees it as their ministry is important. You will have some wonderful experiences available to you both in your church and in your Conference. Enough of the preaching and sales job.

I take down many of our decorations but not all right away mainly because I get tired of them and our house is so small. I leave snowmen up into January and I'll leave a nativity that one of my churches gave to me. I replace some of the decorations on a pencil tree with hearts for Valentines. That tree will also be decorated with Easter lights and decorations and then taken down after Easter. Maybe if I had more room and our house didn't get so cluttered with the kids stuff, I'd leave things up.

I have made an exercise commitment for the New Year. I've let my walking slide a lot. So, I'm pledging myself to do at least 1 mile or 15 minutes of a walking DVD with more on the weekends. I know I have to exercise to stay in shape.

PAM walks outside in the cold? How cold?

Oh, dear. Our Lay Leader is moving away. I've considered stepping into an "apprentice" role, if the new person wants an assistant. We'll see what happens. I'm already pretty busy, and there's that website I promised I'd finish. Maybe that's what I'm supposed to do. I'll get right on that.

(Actually, it would be really nice to have that done when Peggy and Ed return from study leave, since Ed has been gently nagging me for a while.)

We wait until Epiphany, too, but we usually don't decorate until the second week of December. Getting the tree is our wedding anniversary tradition. I have a dear church friend whose birthday is Epiphany, which I think is cool.

Oh, the rivers crested sooner than predicted, so the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been. But that was partly because the snow level dropped, and there's another storm coming in Sunday, so we could do this all over again. Anyway, Clark will be able to go home today.

PAM has made an exercise pledge for January.

Actually, we did not have much to take down.... With the little ones at our daughter's house, the festivities tend to take place there, so we often take some of our decorations over there to augment theirs. Traditionally, we wait until Three Kings Day (Epiphany) to take our stuff down. That is the tradition in Spain, and we kind of liked it while we were there. A lot of Germans did the same, so after 9 years, it became a habit....

PAM will step into a new ministry role this year.

I would like to. I might just get that opportunity this year.

My husband worked with FEMA with the floods of 93 in Kansas. I remember it was devastating. Will also remember your area.

Yes...not perfection, but I did think about what was going in my mouth and chose not to eat some things.

Rainmusic, I will pray for Tillamook and Vernonia. What happened in 96 to those two communities was as devastating as a tornado. This morning I spent 40 minutes up the hill in the neighbors yard/pasture in my rubber boots and housecoat digging trenches to divert the water away from the house. It was over the foundation when I got up this morning.

Pam will have an opportunity to walk a prayer labyrinth this year.

I want to plant a prayer labyrinth, but probably the sheep would eat it.

We are enjoying mild tempts and dry weather. Which is nice, but not good since we are tend to be dry anyway. Snow is moisture. The tempts are in the 20's, 30's and 40's which is pretty comfortable after you've been below zero.

PAM was able to start getting back on track today.

I like Pentecost. Something about Advent and Lent and Easter being over and done with, summer coming, red geraniums, and that whole Spirit magic going on...

As for a relaxed holiday, well, the rivers are rising fast, so Daniel's friend Clark may be stuck here for a while. I hope the food holds out, LOL!

This may end up being a repeat of '96, which was supposed to be a hundred-year flood. Tillamook county lost hundreds of cows that year. We didn't live here then, but we were trapped on our mountain for a while, due to mudslides. We have kind of the same situation: unusual snowfall, followed by warm temperatures and rain storm after rain storm pummeling the coast (did I mention the winds?), melting that snow pack faster than the rivers can handle it.

Our weather alert radio, which we bought after last year's Big Storm, actually went off for the first time today! We couldn't figure out what that noisy beeping was all about---it was a flood warning. So it works!

Cathy, are you okay with your creek up there?

I hope PAM is enjoying better weather than this!

I like that self-improvement idea. I guess that is what I do at New Year's with my resolution. I try to get focused on my health and making myself better.

I'm still on "vacation or time off mode". Back to work next week. I even got a voicemail yesterday telling me about Monday when I get back to work. Well, this would get old. So, I'll head back to work and celebrate the fact I love my job and have a job. But, for today, I'm home and enjoying my family.

PAM has a favorite season of the church year? What is it?
I'm going to answer this one for myself. My favorite season of the church year is Lent and Easter. So, I am just itching (bad pun) for Ash Wednesday and deciding my discipline for this year.

Cathy, that was a repeat of one I posted a few days ago, but I'll respond anyway. At least once a year, and often twice, I will attempt something new or somthing in hte self improvement line. That is how I got involved in Spark last year, and Amateur Radio a couple of years ago. This year, I am going to give a go at oil painting. I am doing a fair amount of reading on the subject, and I a about at the point where reading doesn't make any more sense -- it is getting to be time to DO!

PAM is relaxing for the holiday -- watching parades, etc.

Yup....True, true, true.....
The dogs are both snoring and hubby is muttering in his sleep. I am not sure what is playing on TV as the collie's snores are louder. I would go to bed too, but know some of the kids will call.

We have autism in our family too. It just makes for a more interesting time and great stories.

PAM has included a new hobby in his/her resolutions for the year. (I think this statement may be a repeat.)

whoops....I replied to Rainmusic at the same time as Cindi. I will let the next PAM sort it out.

Don't watch the east coast to west coast ball drop because don't have our television hooked up. Used to sometimes. Actually, we just tried to play a game with both boys complaining and threatening to go to bed. At midnight got out the confetti fireworks and ran outside. Now our yard is all confetti and even inside the house since someone didn't close the door before they let loose with one of the fireworks. The wind is blowing so we'll see how much gets around town. Actually we are commenting on how quiet our town is for some reason. No fireworks. Now, we are all lined up for the shower to bath and to bed. The old and the young! My sons have decided that New Year's Eve is a bad time to have a funeral. As if anyone gets to choose.

PAM loves new beginnings like New Year's. Why or why not?

Well, let's see...I nearly killed my kid earlier, because he told me at 1:00 today that he'd invited his friend over for New Year's Eve tonight.

After chewing him out for, once again, making plans for us without consulting us first, and not doing anything toward cleaning the house, and just expecting me to magically come up with a party, I asked when he was expecting Clark.

"After he gets off work."

Ack!! Clark finishes at the workshop at 2:30.

"Well, then, kiddo, you'd better clean fast!"

I didn't know he could move like that!

I was in the shower when Clark's mom dropped him off. When I got out, hubby said, "There's more. We have Clark for two nights."

Did I say AAACK!!!

So anyway, I think they've cleaned out all the food and are downstairs playing PS3 or watching Terminator or something. We'll go out and light some fireworks in a while.

This story might make more sense if I mention that my son is slightly autistic, and Clark is his best friend from Special Olympics, so sometimes little social niceties like including parents in their plans get forgotten.

Oh well. At least they're not out somewhere getting drunk.

Ummm...PAM prefers to watch the East Coast feed of the big Times Square ball-drop at 9:00 and turn in early? Or falls asleep on the couch waiting, until someone says, "Hey, wake up, it's almost midnight!"

(If you were doing anything more interesting, then you wouldn't be at home in front of your computer answering silly questions!)

We celebrate Epiphany in our house. I am very in tune with the rhythms of the seasons and the Christian year. My father's birthday was Epiphany. And as a pastor I always was very focused on the Christian year. I love Wendy Wright's books on the seasons of the year. I also recognize Baptism of Jesus. This year that's when we'll finally have the Sunday School Program that was postphoned a few weeks ago.

PAM is having a wonderful New Year Celebration.

Not at this point. I have not been asked to speak anywhere.... I will have an opportunity to fill the pulpit in about a month as our pastor will be taking part in a Kairos Weekend (a prison ministry).

We are starting a study ('The Truth Project') this week with two groups meeting at the church on different nights. I will be attending the Thursday session.

PAM will attend at least part of their United MEthodist Conference annual meetings this year.

(I should make this a challenge. I have attended the last 5 years, and find the experience enlightening, uplifting, and challenging, all at the same time.)

True-----We have just completed a bible study on"Salvation,Security and Assurance"which was so very educational and very soul searching.
We don't know as yet what our new studies will be on but come next Tuesday we should be starting a new study.
BTW remember I had mentioned how short staffed we were as two of our ministers did not take up their posts?
We now got a minister who is originally from Ghana who took up the post two weeks ago.

I don't remember that my 40th birthday was particularly fun, as I was busy finishing up my final term, so I could graduate! Which happened a month later, and was very, very cool! We drove all the way up to La Grande with my parents, and stayed at an RV park. Then my folks went on to wherever they were going next, and we went exploring.

I found an ancient (circa 1845) Erard piano in remarkable condition in a gallery in Joseph, of all places, and they asked me if I wanted to play it! Oh, to play Chopin, on his own piano! A religious experience. I will scan some pictures for my Spark page.

We camped up at Wallowa Lake, and drove up to Hat Point to see the spectacular view and the gazillions of wildflowers. We watched a pair of nesting bald eagles at the lake edge.

So, yeah, it was a great celebration. Unfortunately, that degree is not doing me a whole lot of good, job-wise.

PAM still has Christmas leftovers to use up.

We will watch the fireworks across the river and I will start good health, seriously, on January 2.

PAM's last birthday that ended in a zero was a lot of fun. My 50th five years ago was wonderful. I hope to make my husbands 60th (this year) as memorable.

In some ways, I just hope to make it through with some semblance of sanity.... This is the first year I have ever worked the Holiday Season in the retail trade. It has been quite an experience! I am looking forward to having the pace slow a bit.

I do hope to get started on some home improvements (bathroom redos, and floors) this Spring.

PAM has a plan for a healthy New Year celebration.

False because nothing is scheduled in the near future, but we could do with an extension on the garage as our daughter has iust bought her first car and although the garage accomodates the two cars only one car is covered.

I wish. Actually, the church is suppose to replace our bathroom which is a health hazard at the moment with all the mold. We've been living with it getting worst for 5 years. The trustees have decided that it is now a priority. But, if the furnace becomes more than a simple repair or if money gets tight, we might have to wait more years for the bathroom. THe joy of parsonages is that home improvement begins with a trustee decision and never happens quickly.

Bummer about your furnace! I'd like to replace ours with a heat pump.

We have plenty of heat, but it can get expensive. We use the big furnace only enough to get the air moving and warm the whole house a little in the morning. We use space heaters and the wood stove just in the areas we're using most of the time.

Our furnace blows a fuse every so often. That's an easy fix.

I'm unemployed right now. Bummer. On the bright side, I had lots of time to enjoy the holidays. Maybe New Year = New Job!

PAM has a home-improvement project coming up soon.

Not expecting to. I was unemployed a year ago and things were pretty discouraging. March I started my job which has been more than I'd ever dreamed of. Its been a job full of possibilities and challenges. I love it. Not expecting any changes there. But, I learned this past year that we never know what the future holds and what God has in store for us. My motto now is "Its all good." Add "In everything God is good." So, at this time nothing new.

PAM has all the heat and warmth they want. (We don't our furnace isn't working.)

Great idea. I have been researching dog scootering. My dogs both need to walk farther than I or my husband are capable, so I thought maybe if they pulled us on a scooter we all could go farther. I will let you know if it works for us.

PAM will take on a new resposibility at work this year.
