Good for you Dee! Getting enough sleep should be a priority for me in July because I'm so terrible about it.

I am day two of my streak and I did over 2600 steps, so streak is intact for another day. Day three tomorrow. I will do this!!!

Good for you, Dee! I should be off now, but had family over for supper (and boy, were they good!!!) and they didn't leave until 9:30 - then I watched a show I'd DVR'd. So it was late before I got a chance to check in. I hate going to bed without checking my inbox - at least!!!

emoticon Set a timer! It works for me! And I'm always amazed at what I can accomplish even if I'm only able to stand for 5 or 10 minutes! Those small amounts of time add up!!!

Since I've been working from home, I'm finding that I'm not moving around enough. No parking lots to walk. No long trips to the bathroom or copier. Not getting out of my chair to go talk with co-workers, etc. My fitbit report has my average steps below 2000.

So that is my streak for the next three days. Average more than 2500 steps each day.

I think for some of us, working on nutrition is our first baby steps. It really is a combination of the two that will yield you the best results. Need some motivation? When you exercise, you build up your muscles. Muscles burn more calories than your fat does. Who doesn't want something that will burn the pounds away faster?


Final challenge -- Pick one item that you are trying to make a habit but aren't there yet. Let's start small with a 3 day streak. After the 3 days, we hope you will continue it, but all we are asking for is to commit to doing this item for the next 3 days. Can you do it?

Diet alone or exercise alone will not work! It needs to be a combination of the two!!! We've been told that over and over! Why do we insist that only one or the other will work by itself!!

Laura, I didn't make my own dressing. I bought Bolthouse Farms Salsa Ranch Dressing (45 calories and 3 g. fat in a two tablespoon serving). It's so good, I could dip raw vegetables in it (another thing I don't like to eat). I like my veggies cooked.

I weigh in on Sunday. So far mid-week I see a 1.5 pound loss so I'm keeping my hopes up. Been working hard on entering "everything" in the food tracker. That tracker is so very helpful! Good luck to all!

Today, in honor of EB's workout -- lets do a little Office Olympics. You know how this goes. 10 WPUs on each bathroom trip. Use the printer on the other side of the building. Park in the farthest corner of the parking lot. Get up from your desk every hour and take a lap around the office or around the building! Do leg lifts under your desk. Stretch your arms and shoulders every hour.

More movements throughout the day can add up!

Nice job ladies!!! emoticon

Had to have them rebuild my work laptop. Was running in slo-mo this past month. Now I have to re-do all of my settings and load all of my programs back on it. Fun computer time tomorrow. But at least I'm up and running again.

I have meal plans made, I'm just now playing the weather to see what I'm having each night. I'm going to grill out when I can, but planned for some indoor cooking this week. Lots of rain in the forecast. I'll track tonight after I see which dinner I'm making tonight.


Dee -- glad you are trying some new twists on the plain old salads of yesteryears. I really started liking salads better when I added fruit and changed up my dressings. I could have salad more often without it tasting like the same old salad night after night. Even a good taco salad once in awhile is a nice twist. Did you make your own yogurt salsa dressing If so, share the recipe. Sounds delish.

It will come together. Many people get their eating under control before tackling a regular exercise routine. If you are not able to get a "workout" in yet, just try to make your normal daily movements more active. Wall push-ups each time you go to the bathroom. Dance in your kitchen while cooking or cleaning. Get up during commercial breaks and be active during that time. Park farther away. Use the copier on the other side of the office. You get the idea. Once you have tackled one area, then start adding in more.

It is amazing how certain foods or drinks make us crave other foods. The sad part is that is by design. Another good reason to eat clean.


Today's challenge is going to be a simple one. Find something that motivates you today. A quote. A picture. A new shirt in a smaller size. A nice walk outdoors. Anything at all works as long as it gives you a sense of purpose and motivation to keep moving forward.

It wasn't outdoors, but I did "play" for 60 minutes. I used my Xbox Kinect. These are not sit down and play video games. I was up and moving! River rafting and bowling and obstacle courses.

I wish this was yesterdays challenge. Well I guess it kind of is. Last night , for the first time in at least a year, I got 7 hours of sleep. UNHEARD OF!!!! I always get lots of water. Maybe too much but as I hit the loo every 1/2 hour I guess it's okay.

It's Thursday and you know what that means......tomorrow is weigh -in day!

Since I missed yesterday, here is a two prong challenge -- get all of your water servings in earlier in the day and then plan on getting at least 7 hours of sleep. The scale will love you for it.

I struggled with exercise last week!

This morning, I did it early - even before breakfast! I know if I do it before breakfast, it'll get done!! emoticon

Alright Ms Thing -- put your punny where your mouth is....


Weekend challenge -- measure out one meal before you eat it to see what a serving looks like on your plate. If it looks a little lost on your big plate, switch to using a smaller plate to "trick" your mind into thinking you are eating a plate full of food.

Eat clean and add those veggies to your plate. Fills your plate fuller without adding a lot of calories.

Portion control is so VERY important. I have been measuring and weighing everything right now. After a few weeks you begin to learn what a tablespoon really looks like or a 3 oz portion or meat truly is. I know it works--it just that it can be really time consuming.

Now you've hit the nail on the head for me!!! I gained 3 pounds this week - not that I really ate anything "bad" but I ate too much of the good things I DID eat! I've been measuring breakfast, but lunch and dinner just get thrown on a plate!
