They don't always track correctly on stairs... it's not a "normal" stride motion.

That being said, I use a "pocket" pedometer that is usually really accurate. It's an Omron HJ-112. I don't like having one clipped to me - so this style works well for me. (Amazon, about $20)

Hi Carrie (sishare)!

Sorry you were having trouble with your pedometer. The best thing I can say is to experiment with placement and test that thing out regularly. My placement is typically on the waistband of my slacks, nearly all the way to my right side. But that changes if I wear shorts or super lightweight pants. Sometimes I have to wear it around the back of the waistband, other times I clip it on a pocket.

This is what my pedometer said, but I don't think it was working correctly..Where's the best place to place your pedometer to get the most accurate count?? I had walked downstairs 3 flights of stairs and my Pedometer said i walked 10 steps...Obviously wrong

For every 1,000 steps in a 24 hour period, you get ten points. For going over 10,000 steps in a day, you get a bonus of 20 points plus the 100. If you get 10,250 steps in a day you get a grand total of 120 points. Overages do not count.

If, as a team you go over 40,000 steps for the week the team will get a bonus of 1,000 points!

I apologize for any confusion and would like to offer those folks who weren't counting any steps over 10k the chance to repost your step amounts to please do so.

I thought it was easy that for every 1,000 steps you take it's 10 points. I just used 10k as a base number for daily goals. I implied and didn't mean to say that it was a limit. Please repost your steps and get all your points. I also didn't explain overages very well. What I mean by that if you walk 1,150 you only get 10 points. The 150 don't count toward any points.

Again, I'm sorry for any confusion. I had it figured out in my head and that didn't translate to the thread.

Plus, I've corrected any point amounts that were listed wrong so you have the proper points if your steps post is the correct number that you took for that day.

I hope this helps and clarifies all confusion. I"m sorry that things changed at the last minute of the challenge.

Sorry everyone. What I didn't state is that there is no max steps/points for each day. For every 1000 steps there are 10 points. So, if you walk 10,000 you get 100 points. If you want 15,000 you get 150 points. + 20 for a bonus.

What I meant by overages was if you walked 1,150 the 150 steps don't count towards extra points.

I'm thoroughly confused too. Here is your original post: For every 1,000 steps in a 24 hour period, you get ten points. For going over 10,000 steps in a day, you get a bonus of 20 points plus the 10. If you get 10,250 steps in a day you get a grand total of 120 points. Overages do not count.

Please clarify!!!

pedometer. You can get a cheap $5 one at walmart that works just fine. Mine's a sportline, it was cheap and works best if I put it behind my hip rather than in front.

ShayBrew, it's easiest when you have a pedometer. You can pick one up at sporting goods stores (maybe even places like Wal-Mart or Target); mine cost around $10.

Another way to do it would be to log your mileage and figure a mile is roughly 2,000 steps (give or take depending on your stride). You miss incidental steps here, though.

I can't find my pedometer, so yesterday I used the mileage method, and today I'm trying to count steps. It's brutal, I must be honest.
