All schedules being equal, I work out at lunchtime at the office. I kinda have to... I'm the Chairperson for the committee that runs the gyms. :-D I go 5 days per week, at least until I return to Yin yoga. I'm not quite healed enough to go yet, but I'm hoping by the end of the month.

On the weekends, yardwork is my exercise, and I like to get started by 10am, and wrap things up no later than 3pm, 4 if it's going really well. I have a big yard -- one acre is my yard, and I have another 3 that are still wooded.

I try to get my exercise in before 7:30 but it doesn't always work out that way. I wish I had time to in the morning before work, but I don't.

No Sam. I would be the same. The latest I do usually is 7 for Zumba. I think a walk with the fresh air might actually help although I can't say for sure as I haven't walked that late in years. Lol I soon will with summer coming as it don't get dark till 9

Do you exercise late in the evening?

I find that if I exercise say after 9 pm I can't sleep well. It's a pain really because most evenings that's when I get time to do it!

I try to plan for the week but even if I can get a good start with two day that works too. I do soo much better when there is a plan in place.

I love gardens and flowers just not into the time it takes to plant and upkeep. I'd rather be on the side of a mountain somewhere hiking..lol

Do you meal plan for the week? Or are you spontaneous?

I try to plan suppers for the week as I hate deciding what to cook each day. If I have the plan in place I'm less likely to go home and just grab any old thing.

emoticon That must be such a great feeling Glenda. That's awesome!!!!

I love a nice garden but I do NOT have a green thumb nor do I have the time to put into it. Last year my dad came up and we weeded beside our house and we put in a small, garden. We grew carrots, potatoes and planted a few blueberry bushes but that's about it for this house.

emoticon Do you like gardening?

I like a nice well kept yard with some flower gardens. Last year I had a difficult time moving, because of all the weight but since I have lost some, I am finding it a lot easier to do the work.
I am thinking I might plant some veggies in some planters for some nice home grown ones.

Although I am spoiled as my husband does most of the cooking I do my fair share. He does all the bbq in I don't touch it. Propane makes me nervous. We do anything but fish on the grill. I'm not a big fish eater anyway but I will pan fry haddock or roast it in the oven. I love roast beef and bernaise with Yorkshire pudding and mini roasted potatoes. Mmmm
I used to eat ALOT of potatoes and rice but I have substituted that with leafy salad, couscous or quinoa. I love Costcos quinoa. I recently discovered I too am liking cucumber and tomatoe if it's cut small. I still do potatoes rice and garlic bread for the other two but I take a pass.
I still do my pasta salad with veggies which is a big hit hear as we all prefer fresh veggies over booed of baked. Something about the crunch. Lol I usually go heavy on the veggies and light on the pasta part. Lol
Sheppards pie and taco Tuesday's are few and far between now.
The next thing I was to try is fish tacos and and Asian crunch hot salad( basically egg roll mixture) served with corn shells. Mmmm

Ok talked myself hungry. Lol.

Sam, potatoes for supper? All the time? Even I know I'm allowed to keep them off my plate. My faves are whatever My Wife cooks. I am SO spoiled, not denying that. But when it's me making supper, I'm just as happy with fried ground beef, mixed veggies like Italian or Asian blends, a bottle of honey garlic sauce to mix it up good, and serve when hot. I don't use a lot of starchy foods at supper.... remnants of low-carbing. Not sure how many are still at home, but frozen really are good veggies. We steam the broccoli & cauliflower and snowpeas, but boil things like Brussel sprouts and turnip. We also buy premade salads at Sobeys or Costco, depending if we want leftovers. I learned to like cucumbers this year. They're ok, and I won't spit them out now. Chicken is a common meat for us, and pork has been on sale all winter so we've had ribs & chops a lot. Don't want to boil root veggies? Broil 'em in the oven. It really does taste better.

All that to say I try hard to not have pasta or rice at that meal. Things rarely end well if there's heavy starches and yummy charred flesh. That's a battle I gave up a long time ago, and I don't regret it.

My suppers,

I love stir fries, so I tend to have them once/twice a week. Other days, I may have salmon, sometimes roast pork, or beef and occasionally a roast chicken. All of these with veggies of course and sometimes with potato.

What kinds of suppers do you make?

I usually do chicken, pork chops, ground beef, sometimes fish. Normally with potatoes.

Wish I had more of a repertoire! But I don't like spicy or peppers or recipes that I have to go buy spices to make!

I mostly cook without a recipe to go by. If I was baking I would follow one, but normal cooking I like to experiment...

I'm bit of both...I can do basic cooking without a recipe. Meat and potatoes kind of stuff.

I'm not very adventurous when it comes to cooking...so if I so something new it has to be a recipe,

As you all know I'm not the cook in this house. It's not that I can't cook I just don't think I'm a good one compared to hubby. I'm the kind of gal that needs to follow a recipe where hubby grabs whatever is there and goes to it. I could never cook like that.

So the question is are you the type of cook that can just pull things together or do you need to follow a recipe??

So the topic of conversation at my house this morning is should officials be allowed to shoot problem animals (ie Polar Bears too close to towns) OR should they have to tranq and remove.

I believe that there should be no shooting in cases like this. Tranq and release only. It's not the bear's fault that people are there and the officials have the capability to remove the animal.

What do you think?

Hmmm bucket list.

1. To travel everywhere! Really I want to see and hike a lot of places, Ireland, Grand Canyon, Portugal, Alaska....you name it! Right now it's places on the Island because I can't afford to go abroad. But as long as I'm seeing different places and hiking I'm good!

My goal is to take a vacation every two to three years once all the kids are out of school. Last one is in grade 10...so there is an end in sight!

That's it....lol When I plan things it's about where I can go and what I can see.

I always had a list of "when I'm skinny" activities, and after My Guy passed away, I brought that list out again and started thinking about the bucket list. I have a few, including some I've done in recent years:

Go to a sunny destination for a vacation (3rd one coming up, and I have the travel bug)
Do the starter run at TreeGo in Mactaquac park
Go through all covered bridges in NB (11 so far)
Learn enough carpentry to make our own shelves

They're all doable, even the kiddie run at TreeGo. Learning a new skill like carpentry requires patience with myself. I don't find most crafts useful, and I'm a practical kind of Gal, so making new shelves as we update the house would bring me a sense of pride that I can show off. Covered bridges are visited during summer months, and we only need to be gone for a day.

So in the past few years I hear a lot of people talking about their bucket lists. I never really gave it much thought. I used to have a bit of a potty mouth so I always said I had a f**k it list because since becoming a mom I've had to let go of things that I thought were important and just say F**k IT!! Lol
I guess I never really had one because I never really put much thought into things I would want to accomplish, places I like to see or things I would like to do.... That is until now. I think I may have to create a bucket list for myself.

So do you have a bucket list?? If so, would you like to share some things that are on your list??

As much as I love my fur baby mine are Dolphins. I'm blown away by their intelligence!!

I must say though the past few years red cardinals have been showing up in my back yard and their beautiful color is outstanding and I love to listen to them communicate while I'm drinking my tea on the back deck. It's quite enjoyable emoticon

Lori, that would be difficult... The schedule change for meals...

I find for myself the most difficult thing in this life change is cooking for one. But it helps that I love leftovers and can eat them the following day, no problem.

But where there is a will there is a way... and although we all face challenges of different levels, having a positive mindset, will help us achieve the ultimate goal, a much healthier form of ourselves....

Meal planning. My hubby and I both work retail. My schedule is all over the place because I gave up my f/t position and went p/t a few years back and dh is the store manager and works really early to very late hours. He is the cook in this house which is a good thing cause this old girl is not the healthy cook, he is. Lol so
There is no schedule for meals in this house. Sometimes I eat supper at 330 like today cause I work tonight and other days we don't eat till 630 if we both work until 5. I always try to have and quick easy meal planned for our late days.

Meal planning takes a LOT of effort!!

So now that I've gotten into a bit of a workout routine I've discovered that I'm totally addicted to Zumba. I've gone to only 3 classes and I'm addicted, hook line and sinker.

So tell me what is your favourite form of exercise.

Right now mine is Zumba.

So when I posted about singing dd birthday song to her at the exact minute she was born Glenda commented that she thought it was sweet and it would be a nice memory for her.

I thought back to when I was a kid and a memory that was special to me. What I remember the most was a family thing. When we would go for a Sunday drive we always stop for a soft serve ice cream on our way home. I loved being able to spin on those red leather top stools as we all enjoyed our ice cream.

What is your favourite childhood memory.

Lets do the dreaded question...How old are you?

I am 40!

Hubby is 47. I have a 17 year old son (18 in April) and a 21 year old daughter. My two stepdaughters are 15 turning 16 and 20 turning 21 this year.

Trying to navigate in this Team.... not sure what the daily question is today...

But see some posts about Fav TV Shows....

Lol one of my favorites is still the Soap - General Hospital - I know right Lmaoooo

I used to tape it and watch after supper with my daughter... it was our "Girl Time" and she's now on her own..so I still watch it and compare notes with my Mom (she loves it) hehehe

I also like the Voice, This is Us, Master Chef Canada, Greys, Heartland...

I hope everyone has a fantastic day.

My favorite TV show? I don't really have a favorite, but I enjoy Cory, Blue Bloods, Grey's, Heartland, and a few others.

Aww Glenda you truly are an inspiration on moving forward and perseverance. It shows your true inner strength.

Cravings- hmm. Chocolate and chips are my bad boys. I allow myself two tbsp of milk chocolate chips a day..my after supper "smoke" lol. Chips are a bit harder. Actually it's not chips per say it's the crunchy thing. I can sit with a pack of crackers and it's all good. Just have to steer clear of that one.

Out of my comfort zone - Leaving my first husband of 15 years. That put me out of my comfort zone for sure. Best decision I've ever made but was so stressful..everything was unknown and new with so many complications. But that is a whole other story!

What's your favorite tv show?

Mine is Big Bang Theory...it actually makes me laugh out loud. I just love the sarcastic humor.

Oh gosh. It hasn't even been two years yet. My heart breaks for you Glenda. I can't even begin to imagine that type of loss. Big hugs to you darling. I'm so proud of you for pushing forward especially on the hard days. I'm here if you need a friend. Xo

As for Zumba I thought I couldn't do it either but our instructor is awesome and is teaching a beginner class as the most of us are new but she will tell you as long as you are moving she does not care if you are doing all the steps. There are many many things that I can't do but I improvise and she will tell you to do that. She really is great and it is so much fun and I enjoy it a lot. My body takes a beating though. Ha ha

I don't do things that takes me out of my comfort zone. I stay well protected in my zone.
Well that was until I came back here in January. Joining dry Zumba was the one big step outside my box. I am very self conscious of my body. I was always a small girl and I only became over weight after I had my daughter which was my late 30s so wearing sports clothes in public and going out there and shaking my stuff with 13 other ladies and 12 of them which whom I've never met is a big deal foe me!! I was so worked up before I left that night I had butterflies in my stomach. Foolish when I look back on it but. That's the one that stands out to me.

Glenda I applaud you for doing that. That is a major deal!! Across Canada... By yourself!!! Oh my!!! What a great way to celebrate your late husband and get something checked off your bucket list. Do you mind me asking when your husband pass away. Hugs to you sweetheart. It must be hard!!! I'm so sorry for you loss!!! emoticon

What is one thing that you have done that took you right out of your comfort zone?

Travelled totally by myself, first time ever, across Canada by train. I was scared and anxious at the same time. Scared I wouldn't like it. Scared I would totally mess up my connections and get lost. Anxious to do it, as it was on my bucket list, and in tribute also to my late husband who always wanted to do it but never had the chance. Looking back at it, I loved every moment of it. I would do it again in a heartbeat.. Beautiful experience....

I do the bookkeeping for a pool/hot tub store. I have been there for 13 years.

Lori: I usually try to derail my cravings by drinking water. But if it was something I really wanted, I would take a small portion put it in a dish, and savour each small bite. It is probably easier for me to do as I live alone and don't buy those temptations anymore. When my DH was here, we had a JF cupboard. It was always fully stocked.. Harder to avoid then. In all honesty, these past two and half months have helped me a lot. I was a major food junkie but like any addiction it is a daily fight and I just look in the mirror at myself and think, wow, you don't want to go back to where you were. I feel so much better now, just being able to move without gasping for air.

Do you ladies have your treats when you want them or do you have a substitute??
How do you deal with cravings??

I love chocolate but milk chocolate is my favourite. I have substituted with dark chocolate and raw almonds. It's really good but it's not the same!!

I have worked retail all my life but I also worked in homecare for 15 years. I worked for a lady with Spinabifida. I hurt myself one day that put me off for a year. I was never the same after and I had to leave homecare all together because of my restrictions. emoticon
Now I'm just working part time at a little tiny Superstore.

Yes it is the man in the mountain hike. That is my challenge. I'm talking to my niece on fb right now. She is telling me about a few. When I lived home I never hiked. So I would love to hit some trails with you. That would be awesome!! I'll keep you posted. Hoping it works out and I can get home!!

OK Sam so I got two different trails mixed up. Three bear mountain consists of three trails in the city but the one that I actually would love to do if I get in better shape is a trail off of Bear Head Rd that goes up the mountain. When you reach the top it looks down over the Humber river. I heard it takes like three hours to climb. emoticon The view is spectacular but I'm afraid of heights. Like really afraid of heights. A buddy that I hung around with when I was a teenager did it and so did my niece so I'm gonna ask her about it. I would love to do a few trails if we get home.

So I've been trying to plan my vacation for this summer. It looks like I may go home for two weeks to a family reunion ( without my hubby again.. Boo!!) none the less I was thinking about some things that we will do. With Sam doing the challenges it got me thinking I might attempt a huge one when and if I go home. I have seen family members and friends posting pictures of Bear Mountain. I would love to get a picture of me at the top. There's just one problem. I am. Afraid of heights...... DEATHLY AFRAID. I'm not sure if I got what it takes.
So my question is.

Do you have a fear. One that is debilitating???

Yes Sam. Great idea. Making that a new thread. I'd love to set up a reward system for myself.
I know since I had been sick there was more than one day I had to find motivation and it wasn't easy. I too come on here for motivation. Being in contact with you ladies has helped me more than you know. I couldn't do this with you. But that day I was on here and I just turned it off and didn't come back for two days are the days that I need to figure out what I need to do to push through.

When I get in a slump I go through my goals I have set here on SP. I really want to keep this up but sometimes I get lazy...or life gets in the way. My biggest challenge is not letting one or two slip ups totally derail me.

I really like the sticker idea and the rewards.

Will have to think of something for myself as well. Perhaps we need to make this idea a thread on it's own.

Lori this may sound crazy, but my big motivation lately is watching My 600lb Life. I watch it and think, Gees I was almost half way there... OMG... How sad to be in that position. What was I doing to my body? So I give my head a good shake and my butt a good kick and get on with it. Sometimes I just read what others have gone through here on SP.
This site is helping me a lot.

So today I didn't want to do any form of exercise. I was tired and my get up and go must have stayed in bed all day cause I never did find it. I promised myself I would push myself everyday this week as tomorrow is the last day of the February challenge and Wednesday is weigh in day. I swear that was the only reason why I got on that treadmill.

So my question is. Is there anything in particular you do to get moving on those days that you just don't want to? Or is there a friend you may call for a pep talk?

Oh Glenda what a great idea!! I think I just might have to try your sticker idea. I saw teacher stickers the other day that would work perfectly. Glad I asked!!! Not sure what bigger things I will do but I'm sure I'll come up with something. emoticon
Maybe my first reward will be the -10 lb mark.
Just something small. emoticon

Lori I have been giving myself little rewards along the way. I went to the dollar store and got some stickers to put on my calendar, and when I reach bigger goals I am treating myself to night or two away somewhere. I have been putting a dollar a day away for the big goals..

Hey ladies. So after talking with my bestie last night she put a thought into my head. She asked was I rewarding myself. Was I giving myself incentive. I never really thought about doing it. She said, "oh if I were you I would set a goal and when I got there I would reward myself"
Like reaching 200lbs get a pedicure or a new water bottle or new pair of work out pants when I reach the - 15lbs mark.

So my question is has anybody set a challenge/ reward system for themselves??

I think I just might do this as incentive.

Frozen Ghost, Gowan, Colin James, the Mahones, Rita MacNeil , Charlie Pride, Great big Sea and kiss.
I went to a concert on the hill and I can't even remember the line up but I remember I had a great time. Lol I'm sure there's more but it's early and I have not finished my tea yet but you get the idea.

NO, I detest the dentist.

Hard core Spring cleaning usually starts when I can open the windows. I'm always going around trying to declutter. I do good but when I make my second circle I'm always surprised at how much I find again. Lol I'm also very surprised how long it takes me to get things do these days. I remember my mother complaint about her sore legs. I'm turning Into my mother. Lol

I will probably start my spring clean up next month. I am going to start by cleaning out my closets and then my dresser drawers and also my kitchen cabinets. I want to declutter them and take whatever is not being used, and donate them.

What do you for spring clean up and when do you start?

I try to clutter and usually I start around the time when it's warm enough to open all the windows and doors and let the whole house air out!

Hubby does the major wall washing and such..I have a bum shoulder.
