SEPT 2009-Hello I am a 31 year old mother of 3. I have a lot of weight to lose and I am determined to lose every last inch. I came across Sparkpeople completely accidentally and I have to say...."This is exactly what everyone needs to help motivate them!" I was always very athletic and in great shape. Then, I had my babies. Prepregnancy weight was 130 pounds. I gained 42 pounds with my son, 17 pounds with my first daughter and 30 with my other daughter. I found it extremely hard to lose this extra 100 pounds I put on, but one day I told myself, "You have to do this, get serious and take the time you need to get healthy!" All you mother's out there know what I mean. We are the constantly on the go for everyone else. ( kids, husband and other family members) I decided to be a little selfish, which is completely out of character for me, and track my food intake and take time to exercise. Thus far I have lost 40 pounds. Highest weight was 229. I thought about surgery and have tried every diet known to man before I realized that I needed to REALLY be ready to do this and change my lifestyle. Hard work and sparkpeople has given me my life back.

JUN 2011- Time to refocus! I had lost almost 40 pounds and then over the last few months got a little lazy with my exercise and tracking so I am starting anew. For Christmas I got a Bodybugg that really shows me what I actually burn every day in order to reach my goal. I am hoping to stay motivated the whole year through and my goal is to lose 50 pounds by Christmas 2011. I need all the support I can get in achieving this goal but I have faith! I know I can do it if I just keep focused and stop sabotaging my efforts.

Thanks for all your help and input about the Meet & Greet! With out everyone helping out giving their thoughts, I would probably feel bummed right about now, lol. Cause I hate organizing things and I'm not that great at it in my personal life. It's one thing trying to get everyone pumped and motivated to become part of the team and participate anywhere, whether it be the challenges, other areas of the team or whatever. That part I'm ok with, I can type and not feel worried about anyone thinking anything bad about me, lol. As you can tell here I'm a little too self conscious and don't have very much confidence in myself. But I am definitely "TRYING"!

    Anyway THANKS!

Your smallest actions add up to something big

Everything you do makes a difference. Even if you're not on the front lines leading the effort, you have a contribution to make. Without your contribution, no matter how small, so many other things would never happen. The world needs what you have to offer. You have no idea how the simplest of your everyday actions can effect your child, and even people you've never met. Chances are, you'll never know. But if you're looking for a purpose to work toward, all you need is the desire and the right perspective. Define yourself as your task, and that's all you'll ever be. Define yourself as your contribution to your family, and suddenly you're a very important part of a bigger picture. The biggest pictures are the ones where there's room for everyone to be seen.

Thanks for your input on the Meet & Greet thread! I sure hope we can all put our minds together and come up with a plan! I'm a horrible planner and organizer, lol... so will really appreciate everyone's help getting things planned and in order, lol.

Perhaps you’ve seen how an upward spiral can happen with your goals. With momentum and consistent action, success comes easier and easier until results start to exceed the effort you put into it. Well, the same thing can happen when it comes to being a positive force for others. One small action leads to another, which can lead to many. Your actions may inspire others to do the same, with far-reaching results that completely outweigh that first effort. You’ll probably have no idea how much of a total effect your actions will have. But that kindness will often be paid back two-, three- or even tenfold. If not from the person you helped, then from someone further down the “kindness” chain. So go try it out! Do a kind thing for the next person you meet, and see if you don’t get a positive return.

"Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions"
    Harold S. Geneen

Anyone can talk about being a leader…not everyone can actually do it. Think about a project that you are working on at work or at home. Are you talking about being a leader or are you actually being one? In our society we sometimes equate leaders as those who are in charge and giving directions. But, if you really think about it…aren’t the real leaders the ones that show you how to get the job done and do it with you or take the time to lead you in the right direction. Try to think of ways that you can be a better leader this week!
