SEPT 2009-Hello I am a 31 year old mother of 3. I have a lot of weight to lose and I am determined to lose every last inch. I came across Sparkpeople completely accidentally and I have to say...."This is exactly what everyone needs to help motivate them!" I was always very athletic and in great shape. Then, I had my babies. Prepregnancy weight was 130 pounds. I gained 42 pounds with my son, 17 pounds with my first daughter and 30 with my other daughter. I found it extremely hard to lose this extra 100 pounds I put on, but one day I told myself, "You have to do this, get serious and take the time you need to get healthy!" All you mother's out there know what I mean. We are the constantly on the go for everyone else. ( kids, husband and other family members) I decided to be a little selfish, which is completely out of character for me, and track my food intake and take time to exercise. Thus far I have lost 40 pounds. Highest weight was 229. I thought about surgery and have tried every diet known to man before I realized that I needed to REALLY be ready to do this and change my lifestyle. Hard work and sparkpeople has given me my life back.

JUN 2011- Time to refocus! I had lost almost 40 pounds and then over the last few months got a little lazy with my exercise and tracking so I am starting anew. For Christmas I got a Bodybugg that really shows me what I actually burn every day in order to reach my goal. I am hoping to stay motivated the whole year through and my goal is to lose 50 pounds by Christmas 2011. I need all the support I can get in achieving this goal but I have faith! I know I can do it if I just keep focused and stop sabotaging my efforts.

Thank you so much for the encouraging blog comment. It's definitely weird having people around me notice a difference. My brother is 18 and totally uncomfortable expressing his feelings. He lives 2 hrs away and when I last went to see him, he said, "What the heck, skinny? Oh, your neck is so thin and sick." It's his way of giving me a compliment without having to actually say how good I look. It was nice.

Do you watch the Biggest Loser? Well, I was watching clips from the finale on NBC.com and Rebecca was the at-home loser. She lost 139 lbs and people were commenting saying how awful she looked. Some people were saying that Tracy was probably aneorexic, and they were both in a healthy weight range, far from too thin. It's just upsetting that when people get healthy, some people have to compensate for their own inadequacy by throwing insults. No one has done that to me yet, but I would hate if they did.

"It is a common experience that a problem difficult at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it."

    - John Steinbeck, author

Why "sleeping on it" is good advice

Tough challenges call for clear heads. Muddled minds and sluggish skulls make bad decisions and are quick to rash reactions. For sharp thinking, nothing beats regular amounts of good sleep. Some say that your subconscious works on problems while you rest, and that's why solutions come easier in the morning. Could be. Or it could be that brain power is strongest after a good night's sleep. So instead of staying up late, you might actually get more done in the long run by going to bed instead and closing your eyes. With just a little sleep awareness, your mind can stay alert longer through the day and block out your troubles when it's time to sleep. Because if you're dragging all day, or nearly fall asleep in the afternoon, you may be causing more problems than you solve.

Thanks for the comment! I'm so glad that I found something that works for me. Being accountable to you and others on this site is a really big motivator to me. Do you not have the right equipment to video blog? Written blogs are fun too. How did you do through Thanksgiving? I'm excited that you're just about below the 200 mark. I'm cheering you on! Only 1.4 lbs to go! I'm so proud of you! emoticon
