I think I finally have things figured out. I needed to stop wanting this for all the wrong reasons. It used to be ... such and such event is coming up so I need to lose X amount of pounds or my kids are embarrassed by me ... I should lose weight. I have finally realized the reason I WANT to do this is two-fold. One ... my body is God's temple and being gluttonous is a sin and second ... for my own peace of mind and health.

UPDATE: ... and then she fell flat on her face!

UGH. I ended up winning our Biggest Loser Challenge at work but right after the 30 was gone we had a week long girls' vacation and from that point forward it was all down hill. I guess that's okay ... I'll just try again!

UPDATE: 2014 - well, it seems to have taken a health issue to get me on track. So far I've lost 39 lbs. ... 30 is where I usually give up and go back to my old habits. I have an upcoming surgery to deal with so losing weight is important to my health and wellbeing.

UPDATE: 1-2015 - I got through the holidays without gaining anything WOO HOO ... now to focus on ramping up my exercise and breaking through the 40 lbs. barricade and push forward to having 50 lbs. off!!!

UPDATE: 2-2015 - Maintaining my weight loss is going well and that's crucial. So many times I have lost 34 lbs. and then fallen right back in to the old habits but not this time ... thank the Lord! This week I'm introducing some new exercises, using my new fitbit to keep track of steps and getting back to tracking my food intake. I can do this ... I have great support at home, I'm getting back to using Sparkpeople, I have a new fitbit ... I can do this!!!!!

My Goals:
My ultimate goal is to simply be successful!! I'd like to get down to around 135-145 lbs. and stay there. I'm going to take this in increments of 10 lbs. I wish to become an active person and enjoy hiking like I did when I was younger and fit!! I had lost 41 lbs. but after a vacation to Disney World in May 2008 I fell off the wagon and put about 23 lbs. back on!!!


My Program:
I had a local gym buddy when I first started here on Sparkpeople but she bailed on me when she reached her goal. I've allowed that major disappointment to keep me upset but no longer ... it's time I move on and hopefully trust others who claim they will stick with me to see my success!!



Personal Information:
I'm looking to make new friends whether they are in person or online. I love chatting and getting to know people.


Other Information:
I'd like to reconnect with the friends I originally made on Sparkpeople and also to meet some new friends!! I love working on my family genealogy, I'm big in to scrapbooking and I'm an online addict :-) I also run my own message board.

    Hi, Shelly! Good to meet you! Yes, I bounce back and forth with my time commitment to the pages and tracking, but I got myself into a bit of a different situation for awhile...I'm two months pregnant! I won't be looking to lose for at least the next seven months, but I am looking to stay healthy and prepare for the arrival of our little Peanut!
    Would be glad to be a sparkbuddy though, I think support is important no matter what your goals are!

    Hi Shelly, I am doing well, still stuck inside and not getting enough exercise. On a good note my wound is down to 2 x 1.5 cm I go to the wound center again tomorrow Julie my nurse thinks if it continues to heal as fast as it has in the last week that I will be good to go by the end of the month I can only hope. Hope you are doing well.

    I am alive and kicking well maybe not kicking, still dealing with a wound left over from the hospital stay kinda keeping me down. Although it is getting smaller 3.5 x 2.5 cm considering I started out at about 12x12cm they have had to put a v.a.c. on it To keep my nursing I am not allowed to drive so that's almost 5 months now I have been stuck at home other then going back to the hospital for checkups. I cant wait to just go walk anywhere other then here. I have been challenged to to lose about 50 pounds by sept so I am hoping I can get moving soon. Hope you are doing well miss chatting with you.

    Things are going well. I'm sorry to hear about chat café, I really liked it there, But Just don't have the time for all of my forums, these days. I'm spending all my time at work, with the kids or working out. The kids and I Walk/jog every chance we get, and I've been working my butt off at home also. Hawaii is in about 2 1/2 weeks. I leave on the 16th of April. I can't wait! how are you doing? Thanks for thinking of me :)
