Thank you for stopping by and please leave me a note and let me know you stopped in! I'm a 41 year old christian Mom of a sweet 9 year old daughter. I've been married 17 years. I had Preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my daughter, and she was delivered very early at just 30 weeks. For those of you that were following my story, we gave up on trying to have a second baby a while ago. At this point my Fibromyalgia and other issues are giving me a lot of pain and problems with my mobility. I want to lose weight in hopes of regaining some mobility and being able to enjoy a more active lifestyle again.

I started on my Sparkpeople journey at the end of 2007. I lost 14 lbs. at first, but then I struggled and gained some back. In Sept. 2009 I knew the pain I'd been dealing with was more than just age when I started feeling pain in my face. My Dr. referred me to a Rheumatologist who diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia and confirmed Chronic Fatique Syndrome, IBS, Interstytial Cystitis, chemical sensitivities, Low Vitamin D, osteoarthritis, burstitis in my hips and shoulders as well as some tendonitis and now a joint disease as well. It was quite a lot to swallow, but she said I've probably had most of it for at least 12 years and thinking back she's probably right. The pain I was feeling in my face was bone pain, caused by low Vitamin D.

Update (Aug. 5, 2011) Well, I have continued to avoid dairy products and red meat and my symptoms had disapeared for a while, but over the last week they've returned! Not sure what is causing my stomach problems at this point. I have lost 19 lbs. though! I'm so thrilled and excited to reach the 20 lb. mark! It is the most weight I've ever lost! At this point I don't miss dairy too much and I don't miss red meat at all! I have a long ways to go, but I love how my new body is shaping up. Just 18 more days and I will be back into my walking routine. Hopefully that will help too!

(June 30,2011) Began acupuncture and ttc again when I fell ill with stomach problems. Still trying to get a diagnosis. My chiropractor thinks it could be a food allergy and possibly to dairy. So I have eliminated dairy and am working towards a vegan diet. I'm trying to use up the chicken and turkey already in my fridge first. I need to start a good collection of vegan recipes. It's all a work in progress. In the mean time, the weight is dropping off of me, which I am very pleased about! Now that school is out, I am struggling to find a regular exercise routine, but trying to stay active gardening and playing Just Dance with my daughter as well as occasional walks.

Doing much better! Just taking sublingual D and seems to be working. Also waiting on lab results to see if I have a blood clotting Autoimmune disroder that causes Preeclampsia. (Got the results! It's negative! The Dr. said that since I did have one positive, I'll need to be tested again during pregnancy) In the meantime I continue with my low dose aspirin regimen. I am walking 5 times a week for 40 mins. and working on adding more. I'm rarely having mobility problems and I'm feeling a lot better than I did last year! I stopped the prescription pain meds as it was giving me headaches and causing me sleep problems. We have decided to take a break for at least 3 months from TTC. I was having a hard time losing weight while TTC so I am aiming to lose at least 20 lbs. I also want to try some acupuncture for infertility and hopefully we will be ready to TTC again. So that is the plan! Get lab results, lose 20 lbs., get acupuncture!

(2009)So the treatment and discoveries began. Since we are TTC and most Fibro medications cause birth defects we decided to go with a pregnancy safe pain reliever and sleeping pills as needed. Low vitamin D not only causes fatigue and bone pain but weight gain, and low and behold-Preeclampsia, as well as infertility, and left untreated can lead to cancer. So I have been focusing on trying to get my Vitamin D up. The Dr. first prescribed 50,000 IU's of D a week. After 3 months my level had gone from 22 to 29 and I still had bone pain a few days before I took the pill and nausea a few days after. The doctor switched me to Rocaltrol (a pill of both forms of Vitamin D). Started me with 1 and eventually wanted me to quadruple the dose! I was getting nausea from the form as well and the bone pain had increased and my D levels plummeted to 16! I was so frustrated! I told the doctor I wasn't going to take 4 pills when only 2 was making me nauseous! I told her that I wanted to try something different like a D cream (I had found on the internet.) The good doctor told me to give her some time to do some research and decided that the cream would not be a good idea since I may absorb other ingredients as well. She found out that there is a sub-lingual (under the tongue) D spray that may work since it is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. So I gave it a go, AND awesome results! My D level is up to 57! I am so pleased and now feel like I can go back to TTC.

The bursitis in my hips is still a major source of pain and is getting worse and so is my mobility. My doctor said the only way that may possibly heal it, is to lose weight. So here I am, giving it another go on Sparkpeople. Now I have also been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in several places! Yikes! I'm too young for that!

These are excerts from the beginning of my journey:
I'm down five pounds and probably more now. I weigh on Thursdays and today is Tuesday. I'm feeling enthused about this program. I really like it! I'm eating healthy and losing weight, and for the first time in a long time I'm feeling healthy and strong and empowered! I love this feeling!

Down 10 pounds now (Feb. 7th 2008) and on my way to a healthier new me!
