January 1, 2008, I renewed my efforts to lose weight. I made a promise that I would really put the time and effort into doing that. I also made myself a promise that I would become a dedicated Sparks member. I have been successful in all my promises. I continue to stay motivated, even with a few slips along the way. The weight is slowly falling off and I have been an active member of Sparks. The friends I have made along the way are a huge reason why I continue to be successful. On the occasion when the old negative self rears her ugly head, there always seems to be a Spark message waiting for me, to remind me of why I am conquering my battles with food.

I am 45 and I have been on Sparks for a year. I did not really get involved until this past January. I have really taken the plunge.
I have learned that I need to take it slowly. This weight did not come to me overnight, it will not leave me that quickly either.
I have learned that the support of people on the boards have been priceless and I appreciate every encouraging word that is sent my way.
I have also learned that the positive changes I have made are having a positive effect on my family. We are all exercising more and eating better.
I really, really, really, want to achieve my goals this time.

This was the original introduction I used a year ago, a lot has changed:
Just turned 44 and still overweight. I coach girls basketball and I enjoy scrapping. I have two great kids who love sports and I enjoy going to their games.

Fitness Minutes: 3,475

My Goals:
I had to adjust my goals a few times, but I am OK with that, because my ultimate goal is to be at a healthy weight and feel good about myself.
I want to lose 15 pounds by the end of August. I do not want summer BB Q's to get the best of me.
Next goal is to get my high blood pressure under control. I know this should probably be first, but I am hoping if I achieve the first two this will easily follow.

My Program:
Controlling my portion sizes (still battling with this one) .
Stop eating in front of the TV or computer.(getting much better at this).
Exercise faithfully.

Personal Information:
Life long resident of MA.
Coach girls basketball for almost 30 years. Started when I was 14.
Enjoy scrap booking and being with friends.

Other Information:
I have been married for 20 years this June.
I love being a mom.
A have a great son who is graduating from high school. Struggling with the idea that he may be going to college 8 hours away.
A great daughter who will be entering high school next year.
I am a substitute teacher at a middle school & an alternative high school.
