I feel I've been overweight my entire life. But looking back at my younger days, I wish I weighed now what I did then! My weight has gone up and down during my lifetime, but overall the line just goes up. I am nearing the age of 50 and I would really like to lose this weight for once and for all.
Update to 2014: I have now reached the age of 51. I managed to lose 20 pounds back in 2013 but stalled prior to the holidays, and never did get back on track in early 2014 as planned - and subsequently gained back all 20 pounds :( I gave up on working out, even though I know it is the only way I can get the weight off. Trying Spark People again to re-motivate myself to get back on track with losing weight for good!
Update - September 2015
Although I have been consistently active on SparkPeople for the last year - I have not made any headway in my weight loss journey. I was holding pretty steady as I participated in 3 5% weight loss challenges (Winter, Spring & Summer) but since the last challenge ended I have GAINED and now weigh more than I have in 2 years! :( It makes me so depressed. I am trying out a new team for the Fall 5% Challenge and I hope I can motivate myself to truly work the challenge and WORK OUT so that I can lose the weight.
Update - January 2020
I have been off Sparkpeople for quite a while now. It just wasn't working for me. I am thinking about giving it another try - wipe the slate clean and start over. In 2018 from June through December, I lost about 30 pounds. It was great! Wasn't even trying! Of course, I discovered in December that my sugar was sky high and the weight was coming of due to as yet undiagnosed diabetes. :( I started taking Janumet in January 2019 to control my blood sugar. I got my A1c down from over 13 in December to 6.9 in June. YAY! But I slipped during the second half of the year and it went up to 7.4 in December 2019. I have managed to keep off about 20 pounds of the weight I lost - but I need to lose more! Therefore, I thought I would give Sparkpeople another try.

My Goals:
Keeping it simple - I want to lose 10% of my current weight by December 2020 which works out to be a total of 22 pounds - that gets me down to 200. My ultimate goal would be to reach 150 pounds - I would still be classified as overweight for my height but I spent many years at this weight and I still have clothes from then!

My Program:
Walking, Step Reebok and Resistance Machine, Low Carb Diet
