My 40th birthday came last week and I was NOT happy about it. This is the first birthday that has bothered me. I'm afraid that if I continue on the road I'm on that my birthdays will be cut short. So I'm starting over again. Read on to learn more about me.

The following written in March 2011
Hi! I'm Carey. I am starting over on my journey to get healthy and loose some weight. I have been overweight most of my adult life. I have two children and I got heavier after each child. My life has revolved around my children and my husband for 14 years now. I sacrificed a lot for them. Now I'm ready to start living for myself!

I joined Spark People in January of 2009 when I decided to get serious about loosing weight. I managed to loose 15 pounds before that summer hit. Then summer came and my family was at home on summer vacation (my husband teaches). I wanted to take a vacation too. Unfortunately that vacation lasted over a year. I am back where I started in Jan. of 2009.

I'm taking it slow this time around. I'm starting by cutting pop out of my diet. My annual doctor visit this year prompted me to do this. My glucose levels are climbing and the doctor said I needed to watch my sugars. I was gestational diabetic during both of my pregnancies. This is a tough challenge for me because I LOVE Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew. I've decided to try to cut them out completely. In the past I have found that if I leave them in my diet I start drinking way too much of them.

Next I plan to slowly incorporate more exercise and food journaling into my routine. I also want to plan my meals. I don't know what order all of this will come into being, but I'll get it done.

I'm starting to discover the joy of Spark People again. I found some blogs today that have motivated me. I actually stepped away from the computer this morning and did some exercise with the Wii Fit.

My Goals:
My first goal is to loose 10 lbs by Sept. 2.

My Program:
Still working this out. I'm going to try to limit sweets and incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet. I also need to track my calories. That's what has brought me success in the past.

Personal Information:
I recently turned 40 and am 100 lbs over weight. I am married with two kids. I suffer from asthma (since high school), acid reflux and slight high blood pressure.
