Hi and welcome to my Spark page! I realized while at the park with my sons recently that I owe it to them to get the weight off of me and keep it off. They are young now, but I want to be able to keep up when them when they get older and right now I can't.

I've struggled with my weight my entire life, and I'm quickly approaching my 37th birthday...it's way past time when I need to take responsibility for my health and DO SOMETHING to make it right.

Update 1/22/08: My 37th birthday has come and gone and I not only didn't lose the weight I wanted to, but I managed to gain back 20 pounds I had lost. I'm starting again fresh today, and this time I will do it, because I already know I can.

8/11/08: Another update....although I keep falling down I guess the important part is I keep getting up and trying again. I've been diligently entering my food for a couple of weeks again now, and managed to add exercise in (not every day, but trying). I've come to realize it's not the bad decisions I make daily but the good ones, the ones where I change the way I would normally do things, the ones where I make a better decision and do so with presence of mind. I don't beat myself up about what I did wrong and give up anymore and that is a huge accomplishment for me. It took 38 years to put on this weight, I can't take it off in one month.

Edit again: I really haven't been able to keep myself moving in the right direction at all. It seems like one thing after another keeps knocking me off of my good streaks and then I can't get back on. I NEVER make New Year's Resolutions...maybe this is the year to do it. I want to reach my weight goal by my 40th birthday...it's going to be a hard enough day for me (really hate birthdays) without also feeling like I have failed at being healthy.

My Goals:
My goal isn't really to lose weight so much as it is to get fit and healthy and increase my stamina. Losing weight is also a major goal, as I would like to be able to shop for clothing and not worry about whether or not they carry my size.

My Program:
I'm starting with baby steps...I'm going to track what I eat daily, start taking a daily walk, even if it's only 15 minutes a day, and increase my water intake.

Personal Information:
My name is Amy, I'm 38 years old and I live in Kentucky. I have 2 beautiful boys and an incredible, loving husband.

Other Information:
I love to read, listen to music and play rpg video games and Love spending time with my family. I want to be an active, healthy mom who can run With my kids, not struggle to trail behind them. Having my almost 5 year old start kindergarten is really showing me how quickly time is going by with my kids....I don't want to waste another day not improving my health for them.
