01/02/2021
It was definitely time to update my page again! I am now 66 and an officially retired Grandma of 9, the oldest of which is gonna make me a great-grandma. (gasp!) I had a total hip replacement in 2011, and finally a total knee replacement on the same side in 2017. Hopefully, I won't need any new parts for a while!
I have fibromyalgia, grave's disease(basically, an overactive thyroid gland which ended up being destroyed by radiation so that now I have to take a thyroid replacement every day) chronic fatigue, sleep apnea, and ADD. I also had restless leg syndrome, but my surgeon said it might clear up after my knee replacement, and it did!
I tried keto back in 2016-2017 and lost weight, but things went a little haywire after my knee surgery, in March 2017. Then at my checkup in June, a heart murmur was detected, which turned out to be a leaky mitral valve. So, I ended up with a cardiologist and a diagnosis of heart failure along with the mitral valve thing. Also, I had high cholesterol from the keto, refused the statin drug they wanted to put me on, and started my vegan adventure, which is now more of a whole food plant-based lifestyle.
And the adventure continues...

My Goals:
Goals? We don't need no stinking goals.... Oh wait, maybe we do! Having vague generalizations of what I'd like to happen isn't really working for me, so..

I am going to lose (eventually) 100 lbs. and get back to a healthy weight.UPDATE 01/02/2021 Well, this was an old goal, and I guess I'm making progress because now it's less than 75 pounds!

I am going to learn how to incorporate exercise into every day, even if it's only 10 minutes. UPDATE; 01/2/2021 Well, this has been upgraded to at least 30 minutes a day, so I've succeeded here, too. Whoo-hoo!

I am going to seriously get into this goal-setting stuff so that I can be more organized and productive.UPDATE; 01/02/2021. Work in progress...LOL

My Program:

I have been tracking my food here since I started; it's been very helpful. This is vital for my weight loss efforts.

I am committing to doing at least 30 minutes of exercise every day, mostly it's more than that.

01//2021: I joined the 5% challenge! I've never done a challenge before, so I'm looking forward to it. Something new for the new year.

Personal Information:
Moved back to OH in December 2012 after living in Florida for 14 years. It was those 9 grandchildren....
Sometimes I really miss it, mostly in the wintertime, of course! I would love to figure out how to be a snowbird....

Other Information:
I love to read, mostly science fiction/fantasy. I love drumming, drum circles, nature, herding dogs, historical reenacting, organic food, Mother Earth, being green, all kinds of music.

“Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." ~ Buddha

I tend to dwell in my "past". There are happy memories but the ones I continually think of are not happy. They are the ones that involved sadness, frustration, embarrassment, hurt - the ones that I let mold my life for so many years. My "past" is not always a pleasant place to be. Dreaming of the "future" is fun but my dreams all involve nonrealistic things, things that are "would-have-beens" if I had had a different past. I now know that I need to concentrate on my true "present" to build my true "future."
It's time I learn to live in my "present." It's time to face reality, set my priorities, and move on. It's time to enjoy my "present" and be thankful for what I am and have. It's time to make the "present" a happier place.
Let's concentrate on our true "present" and let our true "future" evolve. Let's enjoy our NOW!

“Don’t settle for what life gives you; make life better and build something.” ~ Ashton Kutcher

I've spent too much time settling for what life gave me the past few years. Settling only took me deeper into a dark place that I've struggle to climb out of.
It's time for me (and us) to make our lives better. Our lives are what we are building with every small victory that we reach.
I say let's keep building our lives the way we dream of them being! If an obstacle blocks our way, it's up to us to find a way over, around or under it. It's up to us to not let it stop us on our life-building journey!

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” ~ Dolly Parton

I think I'm finally seeing glimpses of the rainbow after a very long rainy season! How about you? Is there a "rainbow" in your life right now or are you, like me, still looking for one?
I believe our first step is staying strong on our wellness journey. Every step forward we move takes us closer to our rainbow!

Thank you for commenting on my status! I tend to wake up feeling very sore from my pulled tooth, but I find that the hot coffee (or I think any other hot beverage) really help to relax the muscles and I feel better after about an hour.
