STARTING WEIGHT: 250 POUNDS (May 1st, 2007)
GOAL WEIGHT OF 133 pounds reached (July 2008)

My name is Deborah and I'm 43 years old. After a comment from a friend (mouster*LOL*) I decided it was time to update my Sparkspage with new pictures and my success story. It was NOT EASY, it took HARD WORK and MANY MANY lifestyle changes. BUT it was 100% worth it.

In May 2007 I begged all my friends to join Weight Watchers and go exercising with me. I heard lot's of promises and lot's of excuses but in the end I knew what I had to do for Deborah! With that thought in my head I looked up a meeting spot and walked in and joined alone. I went to weekly meeting alone. I walked the local high school track alone most days until I started meeting the other regulars there and getting to know them. My feet ached to no end and my hips hurt. It seemed like my food costed so much more than it use to when I could get that huge plate of Chinese food for $5.00 vs those mixed salad green, grapes and cherries in the local market. And then after paying that price I still had to make it. But after thinking about it I realized it doesn't cost that much more and I was worth the extra time it took to prepare it. You just have to figure out what's on sale, what looks the best and learn not to over buy. Did I really need 3 boxes of Bran cereal because it was on sale...after all I'm only eating 3/4-1 cup per day. So when you eat by the serving sizes most of those more costly foods really last a long time. Oh and one more thing. When I walk into those weekly Weight Watchers meeting still alone every week I walk in as a lifetime member ;) I also walk in 117 pounds gone. For those of you that know the Weight Watchers program I mostly follow the Core Program. I try to eat as clean as I can. I shy alway from almost all processed foods. Even though I go to Weight Watchers I work the program to suit my needs so I make adjustments that worked for me.

In November 2007 I decided it was getting to cool to keep up my walking routine. I joined Brick Bodies (alone again *LOL*) and started working out everyday. I now go at least 5-6 days a week and I swim a couple of days a week as well. It's awesome having a gym with a pool. In May of 2008 as I was nearing my goal I had to make some decisions about my body. I was so happy with my weight loss and I looked great in clothes but at some point each day those clothes came off. I had a lot of hanging skin. With my last child I had a C-Sect and I knew there was no tighting those muscles & skin with just exercise. I decided on surgery. I had a tummy tuck on June 13th, 2008 and then a Breast Lift on June 27th, 2008. Both were in and out the same day. I have no regrets with how the surgeries turned out or the cost. I am still overwhelmed at times with all the changes that have happened to me in a year and a half. I am HAPPY...I am HEALTHY...and I feel GREAT! If you having any questions feel free to ask. I'm an open book when it comes to my weight, my weight loss and my surgeries.

I wish everyone the best of luck on their own personal journey to good health and happiness. Don't let anyone else make decisions for you. Take your life into your own hands and do what you know you can do. If I would have listened to half the people that gave me unwanted advice I'm sure I'd still be 250 pounds and unhappy with myself.

    Hi Deb,
Thanks for stopping by my page. I am actually in Catonsville, Md. We are almost neighbors. Funny thing is I am currently the starting weight you were at. Congratulations on your weight loss !!! I hope to have a similar sucsess story like you.

I read your page and I know how u felt doing it alone. I ask my friends to meet me at the track so that we can catch up while exercising. You would think I used curse words. I have a bike but would love to ride with someone. I work out at home and am a member at Lifebridge.

You think I would have made some friends there. Nope.

I haven't updated my ticker because I'm actually afraid to get on the scale. I have went from a size 18 dress to a 16 but the scale is not my friend. I have also been doing some weight training so I don't know what kind of lies that scale will tell. LOL

Nice meeting you. I added you as a friend as well.

Look at you! You are AMAZING! What an inspiration for me to keep going to reach my goals.

I'm going to need a tummy tuck eventually too. I have that awful flap thing going from the extra weight and also from having a C-section with my son. My husband is in the military and there is a program that I can petition for that will pay for most of the cost. Now it's just down to deciding if we are going to have another baby or not first. I don't want to do the surgery and then decide to stretch it all back out with a pregnancy.

Was it incredibly painful to recover from? I've had a LOT of surgery in my life so I'm a little wary of volunteering for another one even though I hate all this extra, sagging skin. Ugh.
