I have been a member of SparkPeople since April of 2006. Since then, I've gained and lost and regained the same twenty-five pounds. :P In that time, I have walked and completed four half marathons and one 5k.

I suffered a serious back injury in May 2015, which caused me to pretty much stop all exercise. I let myself eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, for all the wrong reasons (and steroids are no help whatsoever). I now find myself slightly above my previous highest weight, and I'm desperately trying to stop the proverbial bleeding with regard to weight gain. I'm returning slowly to the way I used to eat--mostly plant-based. The thing I'm concentrating most on removing from my diet is dairy. I am finally able to do some exercise--physical therapy exercises and Leslie Sansone low-impact DVDs--and will keep doing it as long as it doesn't hurt me.

**Update, June 2018** Feeling much better! DDP Yoga, walking and Leslie Sansone DVDs are helping me. My back pain is nearly gone! I have to be the one to take care of me, and I'm doing that.

My Goals:
New goals as of February 2019:
--Walk the Southern Fried Half Marathon in November 2019.
--Walk the Flying Pirate Half Marathon in April 2020.
--Keep using DDP Yoga at least three times a week to improve my core strength and flexibility.
--Get off some of the medications I'm currently on (having bloodwork retested in August).

My Program:
Right now, determined to reverse some of the chronic inflammation and pain I have. I can do this partly through diet, which is what I'm choosing to concentrate on at the moment. I have finally been able to do some exercise, which will help with movement.

Personal Information:
My name is Christine, and I live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I have some chronic health issues that I live with, including PCOS, high blood pressure, chronic knee and joint problems, and degenerative disk disease. I was also diagnosed with a fatty liver in 2012. I herniated my L5-S1 disk in the summer of 2015 and am still recovering from that injury.

    I got a message that you joined the Living Binge Free group. Welcome! That's our major focus, though weight loss is welcome. Each person decides on her own weight loss plan or none, but any day she is binge free is a victory day, weight loss or not. We also understand if someone doesn't want to follow any restrictive diet plan since those have often backfired for us. But most of us find having some kind of eating routine helps. We know we ate and will eat again, so we know that random food that so often leads to a binge is unnecessary.
