I am a 47 yr old wife, mother of 3, and grandmother of 5 beautiful grandchildren. I have always struggled with my weight and have been overweight all of my adult life. In October of 2012 I finally realized that if I didn't do something about my weight that I might not be here very long. I decided that I DO NOT want to die...I have way too much to live for! So, I started looking around online for something that could help me to lose weight. That is when I found sparkpeople. I joined sparkpeople on Oct 16, 2012 and have not looked back.

When I decided to start this journey I went all in and decided to give it my all. I immediately started to use the nutrition tracker and when I started being accountable for what I eat and paying attention to the nutrition values of all the food I was eating, I couldn't believe what I had been putting in my body all these years. So, I made a DRASTIC change in what I was eating and drinking. I decided I didn't want to drink my calories, so I went from drinking 2 or 3 sodas and several sweet teas every day to drinking only water. That was really tough...I hated water and was a sugar and caffeine addict...but I am so glad I did it. Now, I will occasionally drink sweet tea or soda, but very seldom, and when I do, it's not very much as I can't hardly stand the sugar anymore.

Between Oct 16 and now, I have lost 90 pounds (in about 7 mo). I started BLC 21 in January 2013 with a goal to lose at least 20 pounds during the 12 week challenge and finished strong by losing 25. Now I am looking forward to BLC 22!

When I reach my goal weight of 145 pounds...hopefully before my birthday on Feb 1, 2014, I will have lost more than 1/2 of myself...190 pounds....I can't wait to see what my life will be like when I reach my goal weight...but in the meantime, I am enjoying life more than ever because I can do so much more than I have been able to do for so many years, and I know that I will be around to see my grandbabies grow up, and hopefully some great-grandbabies too someday!

My Goals:
Today is May 17 and since Oct 16th, 2012 I have lost 90 pounds. I am almost 1/2 way to my goal weight of 145. When I started on Spark 7 months ago that goal seemed so daunting, but now I know I will get's just a matter of time. I never could have dreamed that I would be this far along this soon. It has been a lot of hard work, but it has been well worth the effort.

My goals:

1. Lose 120 lbs by my 1 year Sparkversary on 10/16/13.

2. Make it to Onederland by Christmas.

3. Make it to 180 by my 48th birthday on Feb 1, 2014.
4. Make it to 160 by 4/1/14

5. Make it to my goal weight of 145 by 6/15/14.

My Program:
I am tracking my food every day and and am eating somewhere around 1500 calories most days.

I try to go to the gym 6 days a week, but always go at least 4 days a week. I have started doing strength training using the activtrax program along with at least 40-60 minutes of cardio every day, usually on the stationary bike or treadmill...(but now that it is starting to get warmer I will be outside walking or playing tennis a lot more)

I am trying to get more rest. I am working on getting 8 hours of sleep at night, but I am not quite there yet. I think this is my biggest challenge because I am a night owl and have to get up to get my granddaughter ready for school every morning at 7:30. I am working on it, but this is a tough one for me.

Personal Information:
I just celebrated my 47th birthday in February. I have been married for 21 years and have 3 children and 5 beautiful grandchildren.

I was born and raised in Bloomington, IN and have lived in Terre Haute, and Indianapolis, IN and in Tulsa/Broken Arrow, OK. I am currently living in Bloomington.

I went to Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, OK from 2004-2006 and graduated with a degree in children's ministry.

My husband and I eventually plan to go on the mission field in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
