Days turn to weeks...weeks, months...months, years...and here I am again. After successfully changing poor habits to healthy ones and losing approximately 75 pounds I'm back to square one. I wrote the following when I first joined Sparkpeople and it still holds true...just changing the year to 2014...and beyond!

I've struggled with weight my entire life. I know I am where I am today because of poor choices I have made. I'm ready to make a change! I love my family and want to be around with them for a long time. I want to glorify my Heavenly Father in every area of my life, including the way I think, eat, and take care of my body. I know that with God, nothing is impossible. I am committed to change in 2008!

"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Philippians 4:13

UPDATE: (starting a fresh thread here but leaving the old stuff...all part of my reality!)
Back to baby steps...water, tracking food, and moving. The moving part is tricky as I'm dealing with a foot injury, but I really am looking for balance and easing into walking. Tracking food is easy...just need to get back into the habit again. Biggest strategy change...setting very small monthly goal to set myself up for victory. Determined!

Just finished a week-long healthy challenge group on Facebook and it has lit a fire in me again. I didn't learn anything "new" but was reminded of everything I learned here...drink lots of water, eat intentionally, and move! Guess works! I felt great, had more energy, and even lost 6 pounds! Let the journey begin...again!

Starting BMI--41.2

Six months on SP--I can hardly believe it! I continue to track food/water/fitness and work at staying in calorie range. I've adjusted my goal dates to more realistic ones, considering my slow yet steady weight loss. I'm trying to not be tied to the scale, but use it and my tape measure as a tool to guage the effectiveness of my new, healthy lifestyle. I also try to remember that some of the benefits of eating well and exercising aren't visible on the outside, such as cardio health, etc., but will pay off in my general health and energy levels. To sum it all up...I'm loving my new lifestyle and plan to stick with it!

Current BMI--34.4
Weight lost--41.6 lbs
Inches lost--37.25"

Eight months on SP--time flies when you're getting healthy! No changes in my plan, just continuing to eat in calorie range and move, move, move! It feels great to feel great! Accomplished one of my goals this past Saturday and rode roller coasters again--YIPPEEEE! Unless you've been in the position of not fitting in the seats, you can't appreciate how good it felt to ease myself into those rides without worrying (too much) if I was going to fit. The only rides I didn't ride were the ones I didn't want to! What a thrill to enjoy the day with my kids and hubby!

Starting BMI--41.4
Current BMI--32.7
Weight lost--51.6 lbs
Inches lost--50.25"

Ten months on SP! I can't believe I've stuck with the changes for this long. Even though I believe I've formed some permanent healthy habits, I continue to track food/exercise for reinforcement. Something new I've just started--I'm following SP four-week plan for learning to run a mile. If I wasn't the one out there huffing and puffing down the street I wouldn't believe it myself--me, learning to run! I love being a participant in life rather than sitting on the sidelines!

Starting BMI--41.4
Current BMI--30.8 (almost out of "obese" range!)
Weight lost--63 lbs
Inches lost--62"

ONE YEAR!!! What a difference it makes! The changes I've made have become habits, and though I've stumbled at times I haven't stayed down. It's not about being perfect 100% of the time, but about making the healthiest choices possible 90% of the time. It's about eating "well" and moving more. The weight loss has slowed considerably, but it hasn't stopped completely. The inches also continue to melt away. I'm doing the New YOU Bootcamp this month and am now the proud owner of a stability ball! That would have never excited me a year ago!
What a year!!!

Starting BMI--41.4
Current BMI--29.8 (no longer OBESE!!!)
Weight lost--68.6 lbs
Inches lost--70.25"

I'm still at it! It's been a slow go the last two months with me in a bit of a rut with the same couple pounds/inches coming and going. I'm determined to persevere, though! Today's weigh-in finally gave me a bit of a break, so things are looking up. I've readjusted my end goal...once again! My Christmas gift to myself will be my goal weight. Can't weight...I mean wait! Still tracking food/exercise, but was away for a week and had a chance to go it alone w/o SP. I'm thankful to say that I made some good choices and don't feel there was much harm done. While away I did two more things I was unable to do before...I rode the Giant Swing and ran the 100 steps at The WILDS camp in NC. I couldn't even walk halfway up the steps w/o stopping to catch my breath on a prior trip--WOO HOOO!!! I LOVE being fit! To anyone who reads this and is just starting out...keep going! You can do it!!!

Starting BMI--41.4
Current BMI--29.2 (no longer OBESE!!!)
Weight lost--72.4 lbs
Inches lost--70.75"

Time for another update, but don't really feel like there are any new "revelations" to share. The principles learned here on SP still apply--track food, drink water, and move. I've slowed considerably in my weight loss, even regained 5 lbs. and had to re-lose them, but I did it! I'm determined to get back up from each little stumble and keep pressing on toward the goal. My little chick is getting closer and closer to that goal line! I'm contemplating a new challenge...doing some sort of race. I wouldn't call myself a runner yet, but there's this slowly growing desire to be one. Don't know if it will happen, but just the fact that I'm considering it is amazing! Stay tuned!

Starting BMI--41.4
Current BMI--28.8
Weight lost--75.2 lbs
Inches lost--72.5"

What have I been thinking?!!! What have I been doing?!!! Nothing!!! I've been resting on my laurels and what was once a l-o-o-o-ng plateau period turned into a slippery slope back into bad habits. Now I face the reality of having gained back some weight and clothes that were once comfortable have become too tight to wear. No more! Time to humble myself, face the facts, and get going again! Baby steps!

I may as well just copy and paste my previous entry because nothing positive has happened as far as taking care of myself physically. Lack of exercise and sloppy eating...grrr! That stops TODAY! I turn the big 5-0 in 8 1/2 months and I want to be at a healthy weight and maintaining healthy habits for the rest of my life. I was oh-so-close several years ago and let it slip away from me. The time is now! I was tempted to erase this whole page, but in the spirit of being transparent and real with myself and others, the whole journey will remain. I want to be able to look back on it and remember it all...the good, the bad, and the ugly...and LEARN from it.
