Where do I begin...??? Ok, so my best-friend Heather stumbled upon this remarkable program and wanted to share it. This was a long time ago, however I more recently (a year ago) got on the web and started my own page.

I love all the tools it offers, the friends it affords you the opportunity to meet, but most of all the opportunity for self-improvement with a great support team.

A bit about myself...

Well as many know, 3 and a half years ago I weighed in at 354 pounds. Yep I sure did! I was a big girl. A lot led up to that. It had nothing to do with overeating, because I seriously have never done that. I absolutely love the fact that I have no emotional attachment to food. I know people that do and I feel so very sad for them. There are a few members in my family that emotionally eat, one of them being my hubby. I've seen what it can cause and my heart breaks for those who seek comfort or replacement in something that is so completely damaging.

OK, so then what caused my bigness...well I wasn't as selective in my eating habits. No, no, no I wouldn't sit down and eat an entire dozen of doughnuts, or 12 bags of Doritos. I would actually eat ok, it was just maybe higher in fat than most foods should be (if it could be buttered or cheesey, it was). I definitely did not count calories and my idea of exercise at the time was running after my boy!

I gained in one summer 90 pounds. I went to the doctor and asked for a gastric bypass, but he knew my whole family and me quite well and said that I didn't qualify because I was not diabetic, on overeater and a few other things. He DID however check my blood and I had a horrible case of "hypothyroidism." I have Hashimoto's Thyroid and I wish he'd take it back! LoL

Once my doc gave me a very aggressive thyroid treatment and a better perspective of what I can achieve, I immediately began working towards my goal.
It has not been an overnight success, nor has it been easy. I had a lot of support and help along the way. Feather was my rock during it all and I am amazed at her recent success story, too. Rock on sista!!!

I went from 354 to 216...138 pounds. I moved a couple of times and have interrupted my exercise schedule, putting myself on the "back burner" if you will and not taken as good a care of my thyroid either; and that is vicious because ya want to see just how quickly you can pack on the pounds, skip a few weeks of thyroid meds and you'll see. Also, I have not been as strict as usual about what I eat.

However I was talking with my hubby today and I really need to get back on track and stay focused for a while anyway! Because of my "slipping up" I have packed on some pounds. 16 to be completely honest. Just a few weeks ago I was 218, but I forgot to "count" everything and didn't exercise this past month because I've been so sick, so I am 232!!! I can't believe that I gained weight...something that I have not done before during the whole weight loss period. I have allowed other things to become more important within the last year and I say NO MORE!!!

It's back to me time!!! Once and for all so I can be done with the "weight loss" and it just become "maintaining."

So I challenge myself to lose lose 62 by July 4th. That's 14 weeks! I know that might sound crazy, but when I am focused, I lose big numbers and that's right around 4 lbs a week. So that's actually lower for me than usual. However I am factoring in slower weeks and all is about on average. If I only make it to 50 pounds by July 4th, then I will still welcome it, because it would still be a heck of a loss, and I'll just have to set a different date for the rest. Ultimately I would like to be around 150.

But until then I will welcome every pound and inch lost and all the health and confidence gained because of it!

Wish me well......

The secret to happiness is not in doing what one likes to do, but in liking what one has to do.

The upcoming Mother’s Day provides a perfect opportunity to the women in my life. Have you ever noticed that women take care of others before they care for themselves? I am sure that this has something to do with biological functions, probably ingrained into our caring behaviors as children, but you need not have had a child to be a caring and loving woman and thus “mother others!”

Therefore, I wanted to express my appreciation for you in my life. Thank you for being you!

So often I meet women who say I am just a homemaker. Wow, that is a full time job in itself. Then I meet women who work one or two full time jobs, one being a homemaker, as well. It amazes me to see so many women who raise a family, cook, clean, and provide a shoulder to lean on . . . you are all SUPERWOMEN!! So I want to remind you to love how special you are to those around you. You are fantastic that you are balancing and juggling so many things at the same time. You are powerful and strong, you can become whatever you want, and you can say it with conviction!
    Thank you for being you!
