I am Debi and in January 2008 weighing 230 I decided I did not want to continue down the road I was on. I had gotten in the best shape ever in 2002 and I had found my Inner Warrior back then. I loved the feeling that I could conquer anything.
I had gone through some major issues in my personal life and what starts out as 5 pounds turns into 10 then 50 then....then I just went numb and was in denial of how unhealthy I had become, mentally and physically.
What I missed most was that feeling of Inner Strength and I knew the element in all my diets since 02 was that I had not found my Inner Warrior.

That feeling grows within me everytime I choose to do my workout when I don't feel like it. Everytime I choose to eat something healthy over that bag of chips. I get more powerful with every healthy choice until one day I looked in the mirror and just knew that there is NOTHING that will stop me from reaching my goals. There is no cookie or chip out there that has that kind of power over me anymore!!
That Warrior grows everytime I say kind things to myself and treat myself with respect.

So much of getting healthy has to do with how we look and talk to ourselves. Much of my old bingeing habits also had to do with the fact that I would cut my calories too low and workout to much and I would send my body into starvation mode and then wonder why I wanted to hi-jack the first potato truck that drove by. Our bodies will tell us to just scarf down the first thing handy if it's starving. I was lucky to find the Calorie cycling team early on and they recommended I increase my calories and I did start losing the fat again and not the muscle. I also read Tom Venuto's e-book, burn the fat feed the muscle and found the in depth goal setting to be outstanding. I also love Body for Life, I find that very motivatioal and I have completed two 12 wk challenges so far this year and I am starting my next one on Sept 15th.

My goals are now set up as Fat Loss not weight loss. Don't get me wrong...sometimes it drives me crazy that I tend to weigh more, but I am all about dropping the body fat not how many pounds I lose. After all if I'm size 7 who cares what I weigh! Plus I always win the prize at the carnival game "guess your weight"!!

I had a Body Fat Composition test done, a DEXA scan. Totally worth the money. I know exactly where I am starting. And therefore know exactly where I'm going. The test also showed my bone density and at my age that is good info to know. I have very good bones. And after months of weight lifting the % goes up every time I get a comp test done.

Battling this Fat has not always been smooth. We want it to come off according to how we set up our goals. I have seen my goal dates come and go by. I still continue to look for that calorie deficit that works perfect...if there is such a thing! It could be easy to get hung up on that and let frustration bring me down but that's what's so great about SP...My Spark friends are always there for me when I need to bend their ear. I have learned so much from so many different people. Another way I look at myself is as if I am an experiment. It's all trial and error and as soon as I quite investing so much of my emotional energy into whether I gained a pound or only lost 1/2 pound it just got easier....it became data that says I need to change something in my program. I adjust my thinking and move on.

My size continues to get smaller, The Warrior in me gets stronger and all I can say is............
