I need to start treating myself like The Queen I pretend to be here. I am a woman who knows she can be healthier and that's what this is about for me. Maybe even finding that spark of myself again along the way.

I am married to a man who still makes my heart skip a beat after 19 years together. We have created two strong-willed young men whom I want to be around for as long as possible and be a better role model for them.

In October 2012 I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and a lupus variant called mixed connective tissue disease. The RA still seems to affect me more days than the MCTD does but for the most part, more often than not I feel 90% normal thanks to working with my Rheumatologist, stubbornness, and positive thinking.

Being a #spoonie isn't easy, but there is so much support from each other it is a true blessing indeed! Want to know what a #spoonie is read "The Spoon Theory" by Christine Miserandino here:

From February 2012 - November 2012, I went back to school and earned my Massage Therapy License (yes I was diagnosed during school). I am proud of myself for having completed the program with the different honors I earned including Valedictorian.

I love being a Massage Therapist, a Reiki Practitioner, a Certified Pediatric Massage Therapist, an End-of-Life Massage Therapist and also an End-of-Life Planning Advocate (Death Doula). Both young/ill kids and the dying are underserved areas and working with both is not only be easier on my body, but it is also richly rewarding in way I cannot describe.

When I first joined SparkPeople in May 2011, I lost 20+ pounds. I am proud of myself for that. Sadly I have put all of that back on and a bit more, but I did it once and I know I can do it again. One step at a time, one choice at a time, one day at a time.

Now I have come back around to SparkPeople and I will go back to setting monthly goals for myself to reach and if other family and friends want to join me they are more than welcome to.

My Program:
My program consists of:

* being more mindful of what I eat

* being more mindful of how much I eat

* being more mindful of what and when I eat

* drinking more water

* exercising for at least 30 minutes each day
