I am a recent widow. My husband, Richard, of 27 years died in January of 2014 of colon cancer. We have one daughter in her early 20s. Shortly after my husband was diagnosed, my job dropped my position to half time, which had its advantages while Richard was sick. I have been trying since my hours were reduced to find a full-time job with no I am just going to have to put the job search into over drive.

While Richard was sick I put back on a lot of weight, now I have lost 20 pounds. I have to force myself to eat, and not to eat junk. It has been so unbelievably cold here I just cannot warm up. I tell people it is because my "life force" is draining. I just don't see a reason to keep fighting. But I know I have to, if not for me at least for daughter.

My Goals:
1-Healthier Lifestyle
2-Lose 50 pounds
3-Continue Exercising

My Program:
I lost 65 pounds when I had access to a gym and personal trainer. Plus I used the nutrition planner through SparkPeople. Now my job has reduced my hours and I will be forced to find a new job and the possibility of me being able to afford a gym has been taken off the table. Plus I walked 2-3 times a day (5 days a week) for a total of 3-4 miles a day. Now I will only have the option off walking and Wii. I know walking is beneficial, but that gym sure would have helped.

Personal Information:
I moved to North Dakota over 25 years ago when my dad was transferred and absolutely fell in love with it. It is "small town" even in our largest towns. Lower crime rates, good jobs, simple/old fashion values. We have winter nine months of the year, "but that keeps the riff-raff out." You do eventually get used to the weather. It is a great place to raise my daughter.

Other Information:
Since my husband got sick, I have regressed to my former love...the TV show, Emergency! I loved the show as a kid back in the 70s, but now I am totally impressed with what it has done for the world of medicine. The show was not only entertaining, but also help got the paramedic program started throughout the country! Now Randy Mantooth (Johnny from the Show) continues to serve as an advocate for paramedics/EMTs and speaks on their behalf around the country and Canada.
