It has been almost four years since I joined SparkPeople. It has been a great ride so far.
After I initially lost 60 lbs on Weight Watchers, I joined Spark for the social content and the acountability inbetween my WW meetings. I continued to lose and got to my official Lifetime WW goal weight of 147 in May of 2009, bringing my total weight loss to 70 lbs. In November of 2009, I had major surgery and continued to maintain at 147 until January of 2010. Since then I have fluctuated back and forth with the same 5 pounds. I guess that is what you call Maintaining!!
For me weight loss is a journey not to be delved into and accomplished in a short while. I lost 30 lbs pretty quickly but the last 40 lbs was a struggle and every pound has been a victory. And keeping it off continues to be a struggle.
One thing that has kept me going is admitting that this isn't a diet but a lifestyle change and I am in it for the long haul.
I know the skills I have learned will help keep me on target and keep me from gaining the weight back.
I try to incorporate exercise into my day every day. I walk home from work to my hubby's office and walk my dogs every day, getting in about 3 miles or so. I get up at 5:30 am to exercise. I currently run about 10-15 miles a week, do intervals and HIIT to increase my speed and leg strength, alternate several workout dvds to keep me engaged and challenged. I graduated from C25K and have run several 5Ks. My next goal is to run a 10K.
For my nutritional needs I am following a clean eating style of eating, focusing on protein, veggies and whole grains. I eat several small meals a day. I have a hard time following any one plan so I take the best from the programs I have seen and try to stay in my calorie range. Greek yogurt, lean meat, dairy and all whole grains such as quinoa, brown rice and oatmeal are staples of most of my meals. I did try low carb but it was too hard to sustain for a long period of time. I still eat on the low end of the carbs but I try to balance everything out. Balance really is the key!

Stay motivated by finding new and exciting ways to exercise.
Just finished a bellydancing class and am looking into trampoline aerobics.

My Program:
ST 2-3 days a week

Run Tuesday Thursday Saturday and Spin Monday Wednesday
Walk to hubby's office every work day, walk dogs daily, bike ride with my daughter and stay active on weekends. .

Personal Information:
I have lived in Utah for the past 30 years but I was a military brat so have lived all over the US including California, New York, Hawaii, France, and the Middle East. I have roots in New Hampshire, Lake Tahoe, Ca and Colorado.
