I have managed to loose alot of weight several times in the past. Once back in the 1990's I was able to loose 110 lbs over 18 months by hard work and exercise. I went from 220 lbs to 110. Unfortunately i gained all the weight back within 5 years. Again in 2011 I managed to loose 90 lbs by walking and eating healthy. I went from 275 to 165 lbs. Again i got complacent and gained it all back. Now at 50 I find myself on the heels of needing a double knee replacement, needing a hip replacement and have lower back pain from spinal stenosis. I do have early onset Osteoarthritis. I am literally falling apart! When I turned 50 last month I told myself I can continue to eat myself "happy" and continue to live in pain or I could give myself a birthday present I could really use..weight loss! I know when I loose this weight I will help ease some of the pain I now live with. Less weight means less friction on my knees and hips and will alleviate the pressure on my lower back! What I didn't realize or remember was how rewarding the weight loss is mentally. I finally feel in control of something (my weight)! I feel great knowing I"m helping myself be the best I can be not just physically but mentally as well. My challenge is exercise. Now that I have the above issues it is harder to exercise as I have in the past. I am currently joining a gym through my local hospital that can guide me through proper exercises in the water that is low impact as well. So far I started this journey at 242 pounds. I am down to 231 today and it has been just shy of a month. Praying that we can all overcome our personal obstacles during our weight loss journey, loose weight and make some great friends along the way! Best of luck to all of you in the Spark community!
