Fitness Minutes: 955

My Goals:
My goals are to further improve my weight and my blood sugar. I started out with a weight of 425 pounds, and am now down to 305. So I've lost 120 pounds. My blood sugar started out at 360 (when diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in doctor's office) and my A1c is now 4.6. So I've improved quite a bit, but still want to do more.

My Program:
I try to eat low carb, high fat, or LCHF, or HFLC, or nutritional ketosis, or whatever you want to call it. I also do intermittent fasting sometimes, though not every day. As for exercise, I believe strongly in strength training, or lifting weights. As heavy as I can. No one pound pink dumbbells for me, thank you.

Personal Information:
Let's see... pertinent information... um... I'm highly intelligent? I like to learn? I'm a writer? Language is something I find fascinating? I know a good deal of Spanish, and am working on learning Japanese? When I was 21, I had weight loss surgery, and it didn't work (much)?

Other Information:
I guess I'll put hobbies here. I knit, crochet, bake, write (though I suppose this one isn't adequately described by the word 'hobby'), and recently took up Magic the Gathering. Hmm... I can't list off a favorite book, but the top five would be, Dune, Oryx and Crake, The Left Hand of Darkness, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and The Nightrunner (series). Yes, those are all sci-fi or fantasy. As for movies... god, that's even harder. I'll just say my all-time favorite film is Jurassic Park. Surprises everyone I tell, since it's not 'intellectual'. Oh well. Music? Erasure, Depeche Mode, Adam Lambert, Duran Duran, Placebo, David Bowie, Ke$ha, and Anberlin. And those are just the ones in English. Too many others in other languages to list off.

    I absolutely love writing, it is my relaxation. And what you said about the meds... It's so true! Same thing happened to me and I had to stop taking them too. And guess what? I felt a lot better after that.

    Don't forget! YOU ARE ALIVE! That's the biggest talent out there... And I'm pretty sure you have a lot more talent in you than you realize...

    I SO NEED THAT! It is so true - giving up, not even trying, THAT is failure. It's "letting food" (and my inpulses!) stay in control. And I don't have to let that happen; I can control what I put in my mouth!

    Hey, I was looking at your recipe for the low carb peanut butter cookies... that looks pretty simple to make. How did you ever figure out to use several different sweeteners? I do some baking on occasion but I'm impressed! I also love peanut butter cookies... thinking I might try the recipe. :)
