My name is Kerry and I started SP back in February 2009 at my highest weight of 255. I was recovering from a mental breakdown and an abusive relationship, among major chronic medical issues. I got down to 200 before three surgeries knocked me off my program. I took a break, finished a degree, moved across the country and am trying to establish a new plan for life.

My conditions are complex, chronic and degenerating. They cause massive amounts of pain, drain all my energy and make my day to day life very difficult. All my doctors have run out of options and I'm left circling the drain of pain management. I'm beyond frustrated with them using my weight as an excuse for my medical conditions. Afterall, their medications are what caused a 100lb weight gain in 5 months. However, I recently realized that was over 7 years ago and it's time for me to stop blaming circumstances and close this chapter. The weight needs to come off!! I deserve to be thin & healthy and I don't want any scapegoats for my doctors. I wish they would help me first, so losing weight would be easier, but sometimes you've got to run before you walk.

My life and happiness is being drowned in medical problems. I want control over my life, which I had achieved with SP before. I'm a perfectionist at heart and my SPark is barely glimmering. I may not be able to control my health or my limitations, but I need to regain control over the things I can control! I need to find my SPark and make it shine, to love myself despite my situation, wait, I need to love myself including my situation; and find happiness where I can. SP helped me get there once, I'm hoping it will help me again.

Slow and steady is hard for me, but it is a mandatory method for my success. This is as much a life lesson as a weight loss mission.

~Do more "want to's" instead of all "have to's"

~ Goal is to focus on 25lbs of weightloss at a time.

My Program:
~5 servings freggies/day

~10 glass water/day

~7-9 hours of sleep/night

~Do as much as I can, without pushing too hard, nor using pain as a scapegoat.
--Current goal:
Pilates 1-3x/week

Personal Information:
I am a 29 year old chick living in Denver, but my hometown is New Orleans. I spent the past 7 years in Boston going to school and dealing with medical stuff. I never really clicked with the culture of the northeast, but didn't want to move back south no matter how much I miss certain aspects of it. So, I moved out west for a change of pace.

I'm on a soul-searching mission to try to accept my life's circumstances, as well as myself and, hopefully, find genuine love and happiness along the way.

Other Information:
I have a very sarcastic sense of humor, but it somehow seems to balance my caretaker personality. I am a foodie through and through - cooking, baking, cake decorating, Food Network, etc. I love movies and comparing notes with other movie critics. I'm a House addict. I also enjoy music, arts and crafts, dance, animals, angels and fairies! I'm also kind of a geek - I love to learn... psychology, sociology, biology...

    Thank you for the add! I've been having some bad days for about 2 days now-- not food wise, just feeling wise. BUT I do feel proud that I've tracked through those two days, that's a start!! Anyway, wish you the best! :) Looking forward to seeing how you do.

    Hey Kerry~ So sorry I missed your birthday! My dad has been really sick and in the hospital. It has me doing a lot of traveling back and forth. He is off the respirator, but still in the hospital. Take care.

    Hi Kerry! Thanks for commenting on my blog. How were you before your surgery? Had you been training to get better? I have to be careful with food after, because when I'm sick or hurt, I find I like to munch on things of chocolate. But good news on that front, i'll only be eating soft foods for the first 3 days smoothies!

    Hey Kerry! Really nice to meet you! I love your mission statement. I think it's great that you have a sarcastic sense of humour - love that, I do too. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment on my blog. It really took a load off of me, hearing someone with the same issues who really understands, and is living it. i really did think at one point in my life that once I "knew it" and "understood it" I'd be able to "fix" everything. Ha! Yep, I'm learning that knowledge is yet only one more piece of the ever growing puzzle.

    I wish you well with your health challenges, one thing I have learned is that doctors do not know it all, and that no matter what keep trying - as you said, whatever it takes. I've found that vast majority of my health issues have always been better solved outside the regular medical community. Certainly not always, but enough to remind me that if I don't find a solution with them, not to fear looking elsewhere. Good luck. Namaste CJ
