My name is Kristin. I'm a single mother of a gorgeous 5.5 year old little boy. I have a great guy who doesn't care about my looks nor does he judge the fact that I'm a single mother.

My journey started when I was a senior in highschool. Looking at my graduation pictures was horrifying to me. I knew that I needed to make a change, but where to start was the hard part. Over the years following, I had some ups and downs/highs and lows. In 2004 I met a guy (my son’s father) and soon after that I didn’t care about how I looked. I got pregnant in 2005 (weighing in at 168lbs) and had my son in January of 2006. I thought losing weight after giving birth would have been easy.. WOW was I ever so wrong. I topped the scale at 210lbs the day I arrived at the hospital to give birth. I was mortified. Shortly after giving birth I lost 36 lbs (mind you I put on close to 60 lbs while pregnant) and thought I can take off the rest in no time. No time turned into a good 2.5 years. My son’s father never commented on my weight (how could he since he gained the sympathy weight) and so I never really worked my hardest to take the weight off. Well after he moved out in May of 2007 I knew a change needed to be made. I started eating less, not necessarily less in a healthy way but I was seeing a difference on the scale. Guys were noticing me more and friends and family members were telling me that I looked great! AWESOME I’m making progress.

Well then I met my current boyfriend. At this point I had lost all my baby weight and then some. At the time we met I weighed about 140. I was exercising everyday for at least 1 to 2 hours. It felt amazing. Our relationship was great! We went to the Bahamas in June of 2008 and I was in heaven. I weighed about 135 at that point but still wasn’t happy. I hated how I looked in a bathing suit and still do. I was always covered up. I live in mens white t-shirts. I hate wearing shorts. I hate my arms. I swear they are bigger than my boyfriends bulging biceps. No tank tops for this chick. Well I finally moved in with my boyfriend in Dec of 2008 and felt that my weight was starting to go up again. I joined a gym in Feb of 2009 and went once! How pathetic I know. (I work full time Monday through Friday and I am a full time Nursing student Monday through Thursday…talk about no time right).

Well heres where my finally straw came in to play. I went to my dads house and got on the scale… it read 149.5lbs. I swear it must be broken. No way did I gain 14 + lbs in about 5 months. My jeans fit the same as do all my shirts.. where did the weight come from and go to?????

Life update: Restarted my spark journey in July of 2010. Weighing in at 167.8 or so lbs.. PFFF where did all that weight come from?!?! I dont get it. Well NO MORE. I have had ENOUGH. I know there is a skinny version of me in here somewhere and I am determined to show her off to the world. 1 lb at a time.

2011 Update: Well here it is the middle of 2011 and where have I gotten....no where. Not exactly the place I wanted to be but I'm here and I'm going to do something about. Well I actually have already. I have recently taken up kickboxing and zumba. It's a love/hate relationship right now.

I have recently graduated nursing school. Let the fun begin! Can't wait to see what kind of adventures this takes me on. I'm ready for it though.
While mommy graduated nursing school, Mason graduated pre-school. Moving on to bigger and better things. Kindergarten in the fall. YAY! I can't wait.

Hey! Thanks for stopping by my page and for the sweet comment!

My biggest motivation to keep going when I started spark was my exercise streak. It seems silly, but I did NOT want to break it. Even if I could only get in a 10 minute walk on a certain day, I did just that. I did it for pretty much a year, only missing 1 day. That got the ball rolling and made exercise a part of my day no matter what. Now it has become a habit, and I'm usually itching for a workout, whether it be a long run, a strength training workout or just a walk with the dog.

Once you get going, you start gaining momentum, and you see results, which makes you want to keep going. The hardest part really is getting started (for me, it's always the first 3 days). After that, it becomes easier and really worth it!

What can you TODAY to be healthier?? Don't worry about tomorrow or the next 10 pounds. Focus on the decisions you can make today that will get you closer to your goals. One pound at a time, one workout at a time, one healthy meal at a time. They`ll add up real fast, you'll see!!

Keep me posted on your progress! I know you can do it!! emoticon
