I am 55 yrs. old.and welcome you to my Spark Page! Thank you for taking an interest about me.
I have Muscular Dystrophy and use a wheelchair outside of my home.
I have found this web site in hopes of becoming a stronger person to lose weight for my health and to meet similar friends.
My biggest (LOL) problem is I cannot exercise..And if I can lose 20-30lbs...5 lbs. being my first goal.. I will be able to walk better.And of course I have a whole closet full of clothes waiting to be worn!!!
I have a new puppy, a 16 month old black cockapoo.His name is Barney.He is our 4th rescue dog. We haven't had a puppy in 32yrs.OMG what did I get myself into!My sons encouraged me into getting a puppy to keep me company and to have a goal for keeping active.
I use to be very active.My muscle disease has slowed me down tremendously.I now depend on my Hubby to do things for me that I can no longer do.This has been very difficult for me as I was always so independent!The weight that I have put on over the last 10 yrs.has had a negative impact on my life.
I am hoping to begin a new chapter in my life.I want to regain as much independence as I possibly can.I want to be vibrant again and begin every morning with strength to take me through the day with as little physical dependence as possible from others.
I know this is going to be a slow moving process but I need to give it one more try.


April 9,2009:I have done so well with Spark People.I have lost 12lbs.I go up and down my steps to let Barney out at least once a day.I haven't felt this strong and motivated in a long time.And my new Spark Friends....I can't say enough about everyone of you!
Unfortunately I have a new struggle in my life now.My Hubby has a terminal illness.So I need to continue to lose weight to become stronger now more than ever...not just for me anymore but to care for him as he has for me for 36 years.
I also have a new love in my life.My Granddaughter,Ava Rose.

May 15,2009-After only 10 weeks my wonderful George of 36 years passed away.This is going to be the most difficult obstacle in my life I will have to overcome.

My Goals:
1.Try to do 10 min.of active movement each day.(That would be my P/T)
2.Blog at least 1x weekly.
3.Get down my 4 steps to put Barney outside by myself.
4.Lose 5lbs.#1
5.Lose 5lbs.#2
6.Lose 5lbs.#3
7.Lose 5lbs.#4
8.So my new goal is to lose 20lbs./5 at a time.


My Program:
1.Set a time for my P/T so I do it everyday.
2.Pick a day and blog.
3.Go down those steps everyday with my Hubby and make it a routine so I can do it alone.
4.Don't shoot for that 30lb. goal.Work on 5lbs. at a time and make 20lb. a more realistic goal.
5.Take One Day At A Time!



Personal Information:
I live in the Historic and Beautiful Hudson Valley in New York State.I have been married 35yrs.I have 2 sons 30yrs old & 27yrs.old.They are "The Wind Beneath My Wings"!I also have a wonderful Daughter-in-Law who is expecting our first Grandchild in late March.


Other Information:
I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is a progressive muscle weakening disease.
I love to read...anything with pages!I like all the CSI and Law & Order TV shows.Not to forget House,Bones,Monk,and of course The Biggest Loser.
