LuAnn - I'm so sorry. Your walking will count. What I meant was that when at places like craft fairs we are not steadily walking. We are doing more browsing and very slow walking. Believe me, you don't have to jog for the pedometer to work. I am 69 and have heart problems so I walk and not jog. I probably walk about 3 mph or less uphill and my pedometer works fine. I'm sorry I misguided you. On a good day I do over 10K steps. We're having a dangerous heat wave right now (I'm in CT) and so I'm taking it easy. Did walk at the mall today. I was there for about two hours and all I got was 4,985 steps. That counts all the steps I walked before I went to the mall and since I've been back. My pedometer has a thing called aerobic steps, it counts continuous steps over ten minutes and keeps counting them if they are steady. If you stop for over a minute it stops counting what they call the aerobic steps. I walked at a steady pace just around the mall for about 30 minutes. When in the stores stopping and looking and checking stuff out the steps don't usually count. So I hope I've cleared this up. I would never intentionally talk someone out of buying or wearing a pedometer. I've worn one for over two years almost steadily. Goes on first thing in the morning and comes off at night when I go to bed. It really helps me to keep going. I would strenuously you purchase the pedometer and wear it religiously. You will be glad you did. I always recommend the Omron HJ112 from Amazon (where it's the cheapest). Hope I've straightened this out. Good luck. Pat

"Lots of pedometers won't work when you are just walking "

Hmmm... I thought they WERE for walking!
Then I guess there is no point to me getting one! I walk at a pace of 3.6 to 4.0 mph. I cannot jog.... too bad for the knees.

Hi Luann - Lots of pedometers won't work when you are just walking and browsing, like at an arts and crafts fair. Even the good ones. Unfortunately. You have to be walking a little steadier in order for the steps to be counted. I've been wearing a pedometer for a long time and have had a few of them and have found that to be true for most of them. So ya gotta keep moving. LOL Pat
