An interpretation of Psalm 27 that I find helpful on my low self esteem days.

You, God are my light and salvation. Whom should I fear?
Within your fortress, what can threaten me?
Even when everyone is against me - even myself-
I'd be a fool to fear when you call me friend.
I ask only to live all my days in your house,
sheltered from all that seeks to ravage my soul.
No matter what comes, I will face it, head held high,
No matter my frailty, you, my God, have chosen me.
William J. O'Malley

I'm a "temporarily retired" high school English teacher with 44 years of experience. I joined SP 4 years ago and did pretty well for a couple of years. Then life got in the way, and I made several false starts at rejoining. I'm pretty determined to make it work this time. I've been married for 38 years, and we have two grown children. One lives in Tokyo with his sweet wife. Our daughter lives in Seattle, and her wedding is scheduled for Oct. 5, 2013. I'm so glad to be back!

Personal Information:
I'm from Seattle. I'm super impressed with Spark People - the site and most of all, the people! I've been "dieting" since I was 8. Now maybe I can just be healthy.

I love my husband and children as well as my students. Even though it's really a lot of work to be a teacher for 40 years, I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to do it.

Other Information:
"Get clear on this: being fat is not disgusting. Child abuse is disgusting. Tying up a dog outside all day and night in every kind of weather is disgusting. Homelessness and starvation and weapons of mass destruction are disgusting. Overweight is a state. A situation. An inconvenience certainly. A threat to health in many cases. A sign, perhaps, of self-indulgence or indifference or emotional distress. But not disgusting." - Victoria Moran

Thanks for the hug and stopping by my page. I work at a calendar with a modified/year round calendar. It is a magnet school due to the calendar so it is 9 weeks or so of school (one quarter) and then a two week intersession where they offer remediation and enrichment classes. It is horrible now when we go back so early but the break in October (and I always take that one) is nice.
