My nickname comes from a TV show I used to watch called "Dead Like Me." The main character was spoiled, unmotivated and kind of selfish until she got hit on the head by a toilet seat from the Mir Space station. After that, she was just dead. But, since she didn't do such a great job at living, she had to work her way into the light by becoming a grim reaper. In death, she found that her actions really did have consequences and that she alone was responsible for herself and her future.

I am kind of hoping to figure all that out before I die. :)

My Goals:
1. Fight the depression by finding and doing things that are enjoyable (even if I don't feel like doing them at the time.)

2. Build my endurance so that I can do even more fun and healthy activities, like contra dancing, without getting fatigued.

3. Keep track of where I am now as well as where I want to be.

My Program:

Personal Information:
I'm from Houston, TX but I live in Seattle, WA. I like the Pacific Northwest very much except for the really short days in winter. Summer more than makes up for it.

Other Information:
I have what my pdoc calls "double depression." The actual diagnosis is "dysthymia with recurrent major depressive episodes." I struggled for years before getting help. I spent more than three years having to consciously decide not to kill myself every single day (and sometimes multiple times a day) before I finally reached out for help. When I wasn't really sure whether I wanted to live another day, little things like nutrition, exercise, personal hygiene, etc., became unimportant and so I did not attend to them.
