My name is Karen, and this is my second start at SP. I did a fantastic job last year and lost 55lbs. When people started to notice and compliment on how good I was looking, I fell apart. Only recently have I understood this to be because my own mental self image doesn't match what other people see, so for me to balance the two, I eat my way back to where my self image is. Well, that is the past, that's history.

The Me I want to be is who I am!

My Goals:
My main goal is to learn to enjoy and embrace exercise. To move my body and gain energy and enthusiasm for life will help motivate me to shed some of the excess tonage.

Things I'm looking forward to:

To go to an amusement park and ride the rides - and fit in all of them!

To live as long as I can to see my grandkid's kids!

To make myself proud of myself again, and to see my husband's eyes light up and be able to belive in that light

To buy clothes ANYWHERE!

To go parasailing! And scuba diving! And rock climbing! And hang gliding! And skydiving!

To be one of those "old" people who don't seem old, but seem alive and ready to embrace the rest of their lives, no matter how long.

To be able to eat 1 or 2 cookies, rather than be compelled to eat the whole bag/box/container.

To be able to walk away from food on my plate even if there are starving children elsewhere in the world.


My Program:
Make sure to get at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day, drink at least 8 cups of water, make sensible food choices, trying to eat as many whole foods as possible and limiting processed foods.

I will not beat myself up for going outside of my ranges nor will I let a momentary lapse throw me into a tizzy. If I eat a piece of cake, so be it. I won't punish myself over food any longer. And I won't give up over one bad choice.

I WILL remember that I'm not on a schedule - this will all happen in due time, and I won't rush myself getting it done.




Personal Information:
I'm from Michigan, am married, have one daughter and one grandson. We all share our home with 3 large dogs. I manage a bowling center and I'm my husband's boss - both at work and at home, the poor guy!

This journey is so darn hard...I have been struggling for a year now, I just can not seem to let go of the three hundreds. I think it is a comfortable place for my body... possibly for me as well.
