Here we are ... 8 years later.

In February of 2010, I began an odyssey of changes in my life. I ditched a toxic, alcoholic girlfriend and set out to start eating right, exercising, and to quit smoking.

By the end of April that same year, not quite 3 months in, I had lost 50lbs, stopped smoking, and was actively becoming a runner. In July, I ran my very first half-marathon, pedaled a century bike ride, and was actively pushing myself farther and faster, all the while becoming lighter and healthier.

Through that summer and into the fall and winter, I continued to work hard at my goals, and beat them into submission, one-by-one. Maintaining strong willpower no matter the situation - going out to eat with my parents or drinks with friends had me chewing on salads and sipping iced tea despite what others around me were doing.

I had found the "magic pill" that everyone searches for when it comes to personal health and fitness - it was a healthy dose of "StopMakingStupidExcusesAndJustDoTheWork-z
ium." The results were amazing and by December, I was down more than 80lbs and thinking about running a full marathon.

At that point, I mistakenly allowed another toxic person into my life. I became the mark of a con-woman who knew how to play her game very well. Within the year, she was my wife and I was steadily becoming a broken man. She succeeded in tearing me down emotionally and physically, she squandered, stole, abused and recklessly destroyed whatever she wanted to at her whim; a true narcissist and sociopath. When I discovered the truth, I barely escaped with little more than the clothes on my back, my truck, and a storage unit half-full of the dwindling remnants of a previous life I had spent over a decade building, and then dismantled under the guise of starting anew with a loving wife and family.

Having endured the emotional abuse of this monster for the better part of 3 years, I had fallen off the wagon when it came to my healthy life. I had gained back nearly 50lbs of the 80 I had previously lost, I was eating poorly and no longer running. I had invested all of my effort and energy into supporting my family and a wife who seemed to have never-ending appetite for money and trips and material possessions, and had nothing left when it came to taking care of myself. Since December of 2013, it has been a struggle to get back to where I once was.

It has now been almost 4.5 years of struggling, and I think I've finally reached the point where I'm done wallowing around and wishing I wasn't back to being fat and unhealthy. Food has been a huge coping mechanism for me these last few years, and it shows.

I've recently signed up for some more running events, and in an effort to try to get back into shape - I've started trying to manage my food intake again. It has been hard. My job is very demanding and often times it's a real struggle to do meal-prep and make time to eat healthy and exercise.

But - here we are. 265 lbs and trying to get back into running. I managed to work myself up to running about 8 miles now, but my weight is absolutely killing my knees and ankles. I have to wrangle my eating back into control and I have to shed at least 35 lbs before I'm going to start feeling better pounding the pavement.

Fitness Minutes: 19,098

My Goals:
* Eat clean and track my food, staying within my macro limits for calories/fat/protein/carbs.
* Work out at least 30 mins per day or 3500 calories burned per week.
* Drop 10-12lbs a month and achieve a weight below 230lbs by the time my birthday rolls around in July
* Be able to again run a half marathon again in under 2.5 hours.

* Drop a total of 65lbs and be back around the 200lb mark.
* Run a half-marathon in under 2 hours (I haven't done this since February of 2011).
* Pull my bicycle out of cold-storage and pedal a century ride.

IN 2019 I WILL:
* Sign up for the ORRC 10k series
* Place in the top 5 of my age group for one of the races.
* Do the Hagg Lake Triathlon in July '19 (haven't done this since July '12)

My Program:
A combo of things:
1. Getting off my ass despite my desire to sit on it.
2. BeachBody FIXATE recipes and general clean-eating
3. Running 3x per week, HIIT 2x per week, bicycling 1x per week, some other activity like rapid-disc golf, etc. as many times per week as I can fit it in.

Personal Information:
Fat, happily-married to the RIGHT woman nowadays, dissatisfied with my current body condition.
